Anwendungsgebiet der ErfindungField of application of the invention
The invention relates to a method for producing microporous activated charcoal from lignite coke, which can be used for the purification and separation of gases.
Charakteristik der bekannten technischen LösungenCharacteristic of the known technical solutions
Activated carbons are widely used to remove impurities from gases and liquids. Raw materials are usually brown coal coke or organic products such as wood, coconut pachals, .Knoshen u. a. The coal production takes place via the processing stages coking, activation and extraction with mineral acids as well as classification. Decisive for the solution of certain separation tasks is the setting of certain porosities and pore size distributions. It is known, for example, to produce a high macropore activated carbon activated carbon for water purification by specific coking processes of selected lignites and subsequent activation at high temperatures. There are also numerous processes known to produce activated charcoal from conventional lignite coke by activation in rotary kilns or fluidized-bed reactors in hot gas streams, the desired pore volume being in the meso and macroporous region. Such activated carbons are preferably used to purify liquids of larger molecular diameter contaminants. For the production of activated carbons with a predominant proportion of micropores below 1 nm, the raw materials used are mainly coal coke of special production conditions and under strict conditions the desired porosities are produced.
Special activated carbon for flue gas desulfurization is produced according to WO 8504247 and WO 8504388 by coating ceramic materials with powdered coal coke, activated coke with adjustable pore system according to. DE OS 2624663 by shaping finely divided coke with plastics as a binder and subsequent sulfurization. Activated charcoal for flue gas desulphurisation acc. DE OS 332772 "/ and DE OS 1 263970 duioh pressing of finely divided coal with soft pitch and subsequent coking produced.
According to DD-PS 252550 a carbon molecular sieve is produced from brown coal by the desired pore dimension by selection of the raw material, a special raw material preparation, the choice of special Brikettierungs- L ir > d smoldering conditions is generated. Activated coke for the flue gas desulphurization is produced analogously by coking in COj / HjO-containing purge gas. A lignite coke commercially available Provionence is not yet used to produce predominantly microporous activated carbon with the properties of a molecular sieve. Disadvantages of the described methods are also that special binders are required and coke preparation requires many and special treatment methods.
The aim of the invention is to produce microporous activated carbon from lignite coke of poor proximity in a simple process.
The invention is based on the object of producing a microporous activated carbon from lignite coke with low porosity, in which the micropore volume has a high proportion of the total pore volume and, in particular, the volume of the pores having a radius of less than 1.25 nm the volume of the pores with a radius between 1, 25 and 15nm far surpasses. The microporous activated carbon should be similar in their separation properties to those of the molecular sieves. According to the invention the object is achieved by the Brsunkohlekoko in a reactor with a narrow residence time spectrum or batchwise in an oxygen-free gas atmosphere heated to Akti '' tion temperature and at bis80 to 1 200K by supplying a heat of reaction of 100 to 80OkJ per kg of carbon is activated, then in inert Cooled and cooled if necessary in a conventional manner by extraction, water washing and drying. The reaction heat supplied for activation is given as the product of specific Qaslurchsatzmenge, difference between temperature of combustion gas supplied and activation, specific heat of the gas and activation time. The amount of energy required to heat to the reaction temperature is not included in this heat of reaction. Surprisingly, it has been shown that in this low and homogeneous activation of brown coal coke a high micropore volume in the range of pores below 1 nm diameter is formed, but the pore structure cs 3S coke in the macro- and Transpüriporen changes only slightly and mesopores at all The products produced according to the invention have a porosity of 35 to 45%, half of which accounts for pores with a diameter of 0.4 to 0.7 nm, the remainder being on transport pores with a diameter> 20 nm The proportion of mesopores is less 10%, based on the total pore volume.
The gas required for activation is expediently produced in a combustion chamber upstream of the reactor by combustion of hydrocarbon-containing gases with air, the air ratio λ being less than 1 and the proportion of the reducing gas constituents CO + H2 being more than 5%. The reaction rate is controlled depending on the reactivity of the raw material and the reactor type by the proportion of water vapor and the reduced gas components and the Verbrennungssterrporatur to realize a homogeneous reaction sequence. A suitable raw material for the process according to the invention has been lignite low temperature (BTT) coke, produced as a by-product of the flushing gas liquor. This coke is activated in the fluidized bed reactor preferably in the temperature range 1020 to 1070 K in an atmosphere with 15 to 20% water vapor and 6% reducing gas components over (i to 8 minutes, wherein the temperature of the supplied activating gas should not be higher than 1170 K. In the shaft reactor the activation is expediently carried out at 1000 to 1070 K in an atmosphere with 15 to 20% steam and 6% reducing gases over 15 to 30 minutes, the temperature of the combustion gas supplied not exceeding 1070 K. Essential for carrying out the process according to the invention The stated activation times are therefore only guideline values which result from the sum of the influence reactors on the activation, such as reactivity of the fuel and reactor type, water vapor content of the gas, proportion of the reducing gas components andReaction temperature. The partial demineralization of the activated product is expediently carried out by extraction with half-concentrated hydrochloric acid, the sulfur compounds present being reduced during activation and being present as sulfides being largely dissolved. In addition, the content of iron and calcium compounds is reduced by more than 90%. It is surprising that the almost vollstap.diga implementation of Jer minerals and thus so much reduction of the mineral and sulfur content of the final product over d ^ m raw material despite the low C-burnout is possible. The subsequent washing with water and a residual neutralization by sodium hydroxide solution, a microporous coal is produced, which corresponds to the requirements of an activated carbon also in terms of mineral content. If necessary, the process steps of density sorting and grain size classification can be added to further demineralize and improve the quality of the product.

The porosimetric parameters of the activated carbons produced in Examples 1 to 5 were determined by known standard methods. The distribution of macropores was determined by high-pressure mercury high-pressure porosimetry, which derived mesopore partitioning from the course of nitrogen low-temperature sorption. From the difference between total adsorbed nitrogen volume and the cumulative pore volume from the nitrogen desorption isotherms to pore radii . r p = 1.25 nm, the micropore volume was determined. An estimation of the micro pore distribution was carried out using pycnometric density measurements on the investigated coal products. The total pore volume V p is given as the difference Vp = V k - V 0 of the grain volume V k and framework volume V 0 , where V> is determined using mercury as Pyknometerflüssigkeit. In the presence of micropores, the framework volume V 0 is obtained differently depending on the molecular size of the pycnometer liquid used. From these differences, the micropore volume for pore radius ranges within the sizes of the types of molecules used can be estimated. As pycnometer liquids, methanol, ethanol, cyclohexane and isooctane were used.

Reactor, which is equipped with a thermally well insulated quartz tube with sieve bottom as a reaction chamber and an immediately upstream ceramic heating block, 300g BTT coke (70% C) are filled in the Gyfreie Nj-stream initially heated to 970K; through the electrically heated Keramikblcck then a COj stream of
Die an einer Probe gemessenen Kennworte sind in Tabelle 1 enthalten.51 CO 2 / min, which enters the reactor with 110OK and activates the coke. The gas leaves the reactor at 1020K, the coke heats up to 980K. After 20 minutes, the supply of hot gas is interrupted and cooled in the N2 stream. The Ko! <S has taken about 23kJ from the CO2-stream, ie about 100k / k ^ C. After cooling in CO2, the product is removed, extracted with HCl and washed with water. The passwords measured on a sample are included in Table 1.
