Abstract
Bei einem lichtemittierenden Element (2), bestehend aus einem Material, welches bei Anlegen eines elektrischen Stroms Licht erzeugt, ist zumindest ein Teil einer für die Lichtabstrahlung vorgesehenen Oberfläche (6) des lichtemittierenden Elements (2) mit einer Struktur versehen, deren Abmessungen unterhalb der Wellenlänge des erzeugten Lichts liegen. Die Auskopplung von innerhalb des Materials entstehenden Lichtstrahlen wird hierdurch verbessert, wodurch insgesamt eine höhere Lichtausbeute erzielt wird.
