Bei den Kabel-Sicherheitsschaltungen nach dem Parallelschaltungsprinzip muß am Anfang und Ende der zu schützenden Teilstrecke für jede der parallel geschalteten Leitungen i, 2 usw. je ein Stromwandler vorgesehen werden (Fig. 1). Da diese Stromwandler sekundär an Niederspannungsapparate (Relais für Schalterauslösung) angeschlossen werden, müssen sie primär für die ganze Betriebsspannung der Kabel isoliert sein.
