Description
- Verfahren zur Herstellung von gefärbten borsäurehaltigen Gläsern. Man hat bereits blaues Glas dadurch hergestellt, daß man dem Glase außer dem Färbemittel (Metalloxyd, z. B. Kobaltoxyd) noch ein Halogensalz hinzufügte. Das Halogensalz hat dabei den Zweck der Farbtönung. Will man dagegen ein hitzebeständiges, farbiges Glas, das Borsäure enthalten muß, herstellen, so hat die Hinzufügung von Halogensalzen zunächst einen anderen Zweck. Bei Borsilikatgläsern bewirkt schon die Borsäure eine Änderung des Farbtones der Metallsalze, und zwar im ungünstigsten Sinne. Um dies zu verhindern, wird nun eine entsprechende Menge eines Halogensalzes hinzugefügt, welches die Wirkung der Borsäure ganz oder teilweise aufhebt.
Am auffallendsten ist die Wirkung des Halogensalzes bei Glasfärbungen vermittels Kobaltoxydes; die von dem Kobaltoxyd herrührende tiefblaue satte Färbung würde durch,die Borsäure bedeutend aufgehellt werden; beim Hinzutritt von Halogensalz, z. B. Kochsalz, dagegen tritt die ursprüngliche Farbe, der bekannte tiefblaue Ton, wieder hervor. An Stelle des Kochsalzes kann auch Kalzumchlorid verwendet werden.Ausführungsbeispiele: Si02 B203 K20 AI203iCo203 Ni0 Na20 nat. Farbe Farbe mit KCl x. 15 8o - - o,z - 5 rot grün 2. 47 39 =T 3 0,1 - __ rot grün 3. 47 39 =I 3 - 0,I - zitronengelb indigo 4- 47 39 =I 3 0,2 - - rot blaugrün 5. 66 32 2 -- o,2 - - rot bis purpur blau 55 31 14 - 0J - - purpurrot blau 55 3= 14 - - 0,I - gelb violett B. 68 24 8 - o,2 - - purpurrot blau 9. 76 =9 5 - 0,2 - - purpurrot Blaupurpur 10. 70 12 18 - o, z - - purpurblau blau. 11. 65 23 7 5 0,3 - - purpurrot blau 12. 65 23 7 5 - o,z - bernsteingelb bernsteingelb - Werden andere Metalloxyde als Kobaltoxyd mit Halogensalzen in Borsilikatgläsern benutzt, so treten weniger bemerkbare Farbänderungen auf; stets jedoch werden die Färbungen hierbei durch Einführung von Halogen mehr oder weniger beeinflußt. Die durch Nickeloxyd in einem gewöhnlichen Glase erzeugte gelbe Farbe wird in einem Borsilikatglase bei Zusatz von Halogensalzen in eine violette Farbe umgewandelt oder verändert. Andere färbende Metalloxyde, wie Mangandioxyd, Eisenoxyd, Kupferoxyd, Chromoxyd, Vanadiumoxyd, Neodymoxyd und Uranoxyd, werden durch Zusatz von Halogensalzen weniger beeinflußt.
- Bei der Benutzung von Alkalichloriden in Borsilikatgläsern, die mit Kobaltoxyd gefärbt sind,. ist der erzeugte Farbton vort' dem Verhältnis des Alkalis zum Boroxyd und zur Kieselsäure, ferner von dem Prozentgehalt des Kobaltoxydes sowie des zum Glassatz hinzugefügten Halogensalzes abhängig, endlich von dem Prozentsatz des Chlorids, das beim Schmelzen nicht entweicht, sondern im Glase zurückgehalten wird, sowie von dem Prozentsatz der übrigen Bestandteile. Als Alkalimetalle können Kalium, Natrium und Lithium benutzt werden. Je höher der .Prozentgehalt des Boroxydes ist, desto mehr Rot enthält die vom Kobaltoxyd erzeugte Farbe, welche sich. jedoch mehr dem Grün zuneigt, sobald gleichzeitig ein Halogen verwendet wird.
- Die in der letzten Reihe umstehender Tabelle enthaltenen Farbtönungen werden durch Hinzufügung von drei Teilen Kaliumchlorid zu 97 Teilen Glasfluß erzeugt; Platten von 6 mm Dicke geben dann im durchscheinenden, Licht die angegebenen Farbtöne.
- Das Verfahren ist jedoch nicht auf die in obiger Zusammenstellung angegebenen Mengen beschränkt, da es sich bei allen Gläsern, welche Alkali und Boroxyd enthalten, anwenden läßt.

- PATENTANSPRÜCHE: i. Verfahren zur Herstellung von durch Metalloxyd gefärbten borsäurehaltigen, insbesondere Borsilikatgläsern, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Glas unter Hinzufügung geeigneter Halogensalze in geeigneten Mengen erschmolzen wird, um die Wirkung der Borsäure -auf das färbende Metallsalz abzuändern oder gänzlich aufzuheben. z. Verfahren nach Anspruch i, dadurch gekennzeichnet,_ daß als Halogensalz .ein Alkalichlorid, vorzugsweise Kaliumchlorid, benutzt wird.
