Das vorliegende Verfahren bezweckt die Herstellung von mehrfarbigen Originalgemälden und Zeichnungen sowohl, als auch die Herstellung gemalter oder gezeichneter Copied nach solchen, sowie das Coloriren von eintönigen oder in sich -gleichtonigen Bildern dadurch, dafs jede Farbe ohne Benutzung irgend eines photographischen Hülfsmittels auf eine separate transparente Schicht gemalt wird, indem jede einzelne transparente Schicht mit Anhältsmerkmalen für das Auftragen der Farbe an die richtige Stelle versehen wird, oder indem jeder dieser transparenten Schichten beim Bemalen eine Schicht mit Anhaltsmerkmalen untergelegt wird. Diese so gemalten oder gezeichneten, über einander gelegten Schichten ergeben vermittels ihrer Transparenz das farbige Gesammtbild, welches sich von anderen Gemälden vortheilhaft dadurch unterscheidet, dafs das benutzte transparente Material den Farben einen weichen Schmelz verleiht, und dafs nach Belieben einzelne dieser Farbenplatten fortgelassen werden können und dadurch der Stimmungseffekt desselben Bildes in der verschiedensten Weise variirt werden kann. Will man z. B. ein Originalgemälde in dieser Weise herstellen, so zeichnet man eine Skizze zu demselben und legt auf dieselbe eine transparente Schicht, auf welche man nach den durch die unterliegende sichtbare Skizze gegebenen Merkmalen eine der im Bilde gewünschten Farben malt. Auf diese in einer Farbe übermalte Schicht legt man eine weitere Schicht, auf welche man eine andere der gewünschten Farben aufträgt, und in dieser Weise fortfährt, bis man den gewünschten Gesammtfarbeneffekt erzielt hat.
