1.' Purpose of the invention

The purpose of the invention is to realize a nodular power distribution system primarily for use in conjunction with low-voltage transformers to supply several consumers (e.g. low-voltage lights) from a transformer with a single secondary winding.

2.) State of the art

In the field of lighting technology, the use of low-voltage halogen lamps is becoming increasingly common.

For economic reasons, lighting systems with several lamps are fed from just one mains transformer, which must have a number of connection contacts corresponding to the number of lamps to be connected.

Due to the existing safety regulations (e.g. VBS), these transformers must be designed in accordance with the regulations of the electrical safety authority, i.e. in the event of a fault, they must be encapsulated with a suitable electrical insulation material.

As the number of connection contacts increases, sealing problems arise at the housing points where cables or contact elements have to be felt through the housing wall.

Since leakage of the sealing compound at the feedthrough points generally leads to failure of the otherwise electrically functional part, the rejection rates and thus the costs can become considerably high.

The invention is based on the idea of reducing the housing areas to be sealed to a necessary minimum with only a single feedthrough of a two-wire cable or the feedthrough of two single-wire cables and of realizing the distribution of the supply currents outside the potting area.

In addition, the increasing number of connection contacts, increasing soldering and wiring work in the casting area should be reduced and the possibility should be created to subsequently process any faulty electrical connections even after casting, thus reducing scrap costs.

4.) Execution

The solution to the problem is achieved by using a suitable additional housing, which is either firmly connected to the transformer housing or is movably attached to the end of the cable leading out of the transformer.

Two electrical conductors are installed inside the housing in such a way that, on the one hand, they are supplied by the supply line coming from the transformer and, on the other hand, they have enough connection points to allow the corresponding number of consumers to be connected.

The dimensioning of the conductors depends on the maximum current that the transformer can deliver and the maximum permissible current of the selected connection contact system.

This means that the power distributor can be adapted to the performance data of the transformer by optionally equipping it with connection contacts.

The connection contacts can be designed in &&t, plug-in, seed-raid or germ technology by suitable design of the additional bus.

By appropriately modifying the additional housing and the conductor system installed therein, the physical conditions of the most diverse connection contact systems can be taken into account without the transformer housing itself having to be modified in any way.

Finally, it should be noted that this system can also be used in other areas outside of lighting technology where there is a need to distribute currents in the protective extra-low voltage range between several consumers in a rational and simple manner.
