In the steamer, which is constructed according to the steam bell principle and is therefore independently air-free, the webs of material WB enter the steamer from below and leave the steamer again downwards. The steam fills the steamer from above due to its lower specific weight and pushes the heavier air downwards out of the steamer.

The steam supply 1 is located on the rear end wall of the steamer. In a distribution shaft H, the flow rate of the incoming steam is reduced, the steam flow is diverted, and the amount of steam is evenly distributed horizontally on both sides. Any condensate carried along from the pipe is intercepted here and drained into the water lock located below.
