Description

The invention relates to a dryer for trickling dry goods with a vertical trickle chute.

For drying trickling dry goods such as grain, oilseeds or the like, advantageous dryers are used in which the dry goods slowly trickle through a certain height in vertical shafts with a rectangular or ring-shaped cross section. The trickling corresponds to the steady slipping of the sand in the hourglass. The side walls of the trickle chute mostly consist of sieve-like perforated sheets or, in particular in the case of rectangular channels, of step-like delimiting surfaces. In the conventional dryers, heated air is blown in through the openings in the sieve plates or the openings between the lateral projections of the boundary surface and is intended to dry the material to be dried. In the most varied of ways, the air is blown through the dry goods in different levels one after the other in order to increase the economy. A major disadvantage of this construction results from the fact that, given the low specific heat of the air, relatively large amounts of air have to be blown through the dry material in order to supply it with the heat required for evaporation of the moisture. This means that relatively large drive powers are required for the air conveying devices. Also surrendered quite extensive performance cross-sections for the guidance of the dry air.

In order to remedy this problem, in newer designs, heating surfaces heated with steam were embedded directly in the dry goods, especially for heating up the dry goods in front of the air-drying zones, which transfer the heat to the dry goods through direct contact. Likewise, in a further variation, such contact heating surfaces were switched on by interrupting the air drying zones in the actual drying area in order to reheat the drying material in the meantime.

These local heating surfaces ran through the dry material in a horizontal direction and mostly had teardrop-shaped cross-sections to reduce the flow resistance.

Even if the air output could be reduced noticeably with these constructions, the drying process was still unsteady with noticeable jumps in the temperature profile of the drying process. The division into air-drying zones and warm-up zones also leads to a noticeable cost-related construction effort.

Here these disadvantages have now been eliminated by a particularly favorable combination of air drying and heating of the material to be dried by means of heating surfaces embedded in the material to be dried.

Mit 1 sind die örtlichen Heizflächen bezeichnet, die alsIn a dryer for trickling dry goods with a vertical drying shaft, in which additional heat is supplied to the dry goods via radiators embedded in the dry goods, the heating elements according to the invention are designed as vertical heating pipes with a circular cross-section that extend through the dry goods in the drying shaft over most of its height the desiccant flows through the drying agent simultaneously over its entire fall or trickle path. This combination of air drying and local heating ensures that the amount of heat required for evaporation is largely supplied to the material to be dried by contact effect via the heating surfaces, while the amount of air flowing through the material to be dried can be reduced to a minimum. The figure shows exemplary embodiments in vertical section and horizontal section through the dryer. With 1 the local heating surfaces are referred to as

Tubes with a circular cross-section are combined to form a heating battery. The air flow is indicated by arrows, in which, for example, the air in the embodiment shown flows through the drying material twice on its fall path. 2 shows the air heater, which preheats the air before it passes through the dryer.

In order not to impair the germination capacity of the dry material through overheating, the dryer is expediently operated with warm water heating, whereby the heated water advantageously first flows through the air heater and is then passed via the return at a reduced temperature through the heating battery embedded in the dry material.

In a further embodiment, the dryer for trickling dry goods, which can be dried at temperatures above 100 °, is designed as a so-called superheated steam dryer. The circulated air is conveyed in a circuit without the supply of fresh air and an exhaust air opening (see Figure 3) is provided to the outside only for the discharge of the developing water vapor. With this construction, the drying air initially present in the dryer is gradually displaced by the developing water vapor, so that the circuit is ultimately primarily filled with superheated water vapor and drying is carried out by superheated water vapor. Since this method eliminates the heat losses due to the heating of the fresh air, it shows a particularly good thermal efficiency, in which the steam consumption per kg of water to be evaporated can be reduced to 1.3 kg of steam with good insulation of the dryer.
