Abstract

Prodn. of an expandable print roller sleeve consists of preparing a rotary support cylinder with release agent; winding on a layer (24) of material (26) having regularly distributed holes (34) over its surface. The material is a complex composed of a layer (28) of non woven material over which is placed a layer of expanded natural (30) having a high space ratio and scream printed with a given pattern (32); This layer is coated with a resin (22), e.g. of vinyl ester or epoxy base, having the ability to retract a given amount on curing. After gelification of the resin an air tight material (37) e.g. of polyester is wound (36) over it. The system is cured at temp. coated (44) with a finishing resin (46), cured and the sleeve removed by dilation under gas press. Finally a layer of elastomer is joined to the sleeve. <IMAGE>
