Abstract
The track has a permanent way with rails (14) laid on sleepers (13), which are supported on a bed (15) of ballast. The bed is supported by a concrete slab (21) which is laid on the ground. The slab has a thickness of at least 0.4 m, and is in the form of a continuous band which is poured in situ. The thickness may also be up to 1.4 m, and pref. may be 0.7 m. The outsides of the slab may have edge covers (22) which project upwards in order to contain the ballast bed. The slab may also have a central cover projecting from its upper surface, and a track may be arranged on each side of it.
