Abstract

The method involves measurement of the distortion products of otoacoustic emissions or DPOAEs by inserting a probe in the ear canal; generating first and second notes with different frequencies and sound levels in the outer canal to trigger DPOAEs; measuring the DPOAEs; applying the emission level wrt. a sound pressure of one note to maintain DPOAE growth function; and extrapolating the function to estimate the hearing threshold. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for objective determination of sound propagation in a tube close to the threshold and superthreshold flow.
