Den .foreliggende opfindelse angår en vandholdig fugemasse indeholdende mineralske fyldstoffer og en vinylpolymer samt tilstrækkeligt vand til opnåelse af en plastisk konsistens.
Opfindelsen angår navnlig fugemasser til anvendelse ved udfyldning af sammenføjninger mellem tilstødende byggeplader i tørvægkonstruktioner.
Fra USA patentskrift nr. 3.382.119 kendes en fugemasse, der er særlig egnet til udfyldning af mellemrum mellem gipsplader.
Denne kendte fugemasse, der kan foreligge i form af et tørt pulver eller i en brugsfærdig emulsion, er sammensat af ca. 96% fyldstof, 3% bindemiddel og 1% tilsætningsmiddel, fortrinsvis methylcellulose. Bindemidlet udgøres af ca. 2,25% polyvinylacetat og ca. 0,75% polyvi-nylalkohol. Det er imidlertid ikke økonomisk at kombinere separat fremstillet polyvinylacetat og polyvinylalkohol i en emulsion i betragtning af, at disse to forbindelser dannes sammen under fremstillingen af polyvinyiacetatemulsioner.
Svensk fremlæggelsesskrift nr. 300.081 beskriver fremstillingen af papir forsynet med en belægning fremstillet ud fra et belægningsmiddel, der udover et sædvanligt fyldstof som bindemiddel indeholder et copolymerisat af vinylacetat og en vinylester af en monocar-boxylsyre, hvis carboxylsyregruppe er bundet til et tertiært eller kvaternært carbonatom. Eksempler på sådanne monocarboxylsyrer er reaktionsprodukter fremstillet ud fra myresyre eller carbonoxid og vand og olefiner under tilstedeværelse af væskeformige sure katalysatorer.
Ydermere indeholder belægningen casein som bindemiddel. Belægningen har en god vandbestandighed. Da de krav, der stilles til et belægningsmiddel, er helt andre end de, der stilles til en fugemasse, kan man ud fra det nævnte svenske fremlæggelsesskrift intet bestemt udlede med hensyn til sammensætningen af fugemasser.
Formålet med opfindelsen er at tilvejebringe en færdigblan-det fugemasse med god stabilitet og gode bearbejdningsegenskaber og med passende fleksibilitet, når den er anbragt på plads.
Dette har vist sig opnåeligt ifølge den foreliggende opfindelse med en vandholdig fugemasse af den i krav 1's indledning anførte art, hvilken masse er ejendommelig ved, at den er hovedsagelig sammensat af 1,5-10 vægtdele af en copolymer af vinylacetat og vinylesteren af en syntetisk, i det væsentlige tertiær carboxylsyre og fremstillet ved reaktion mellem olefiner og carbonmonooxid og vand i nærvæ 144370 2 relse af en syrekatalysator, 30-80 vægtdele kalkstenmel, 0-50 vægtdele talkum, 0-15 vægtdele glimmer og 0-8 vægtdele asbest.
Copolymere af vinylacetat og vinylestere af de ovennævnte carboxylsyrer findes i handelen, og det er kendt at anvende sådanne copolymere til fremstilling af overfladebelægninger, jfr. beskrivelsen til fransk patent nr. 1.388.513. De i handelen værende copolymere af ovennævnte art findes i handelen i form af vandige emulsioner.
Et typisk eksempel pi en tertiær carboxylsyre til brug til fremstilling af copolymeren, som indgår i fugemassen ifølge opfindel-sen, er et i handelen værende produkt, "Versatic 911", der er fremstillet af olefiner, opnået udfra råolie, og som er en blanding af Cg-, C.jQ- og -syrer, der indeholder omkring 90% tertiære og 10% sekundære syrer, stort set uden indhold af primære syrer.
Et eksempel på en copolymeremulsion, der er egnet til anvendelse i en fugemasse ifølge den foreliggende opfindelse, er en emulsion, der sælges under handelsnavnet "Polimul 1261" og indeholder 50% copolymer på tørstofbasis og eventuelt 3,3% diisobutylphthalat, 8,3% ethylenglycol og 0,55% antiskumningsmiddel baseret på emulsionens vægt.
Fugemasser ifølge opfindelsen indeholder kalksten eller talkum som hovedfyldstof, idet de foretrukne mængder af copolymer og andre bestanddele varierer med fyldstoffernes nøjagtige beskaffenhed for at opnå de bedste bearbejdningsegenskaber.
Masser med den i krav 1 nævnte sammensætning kan også indeholde op til 0,6 dele celluloseether, op til 1 del farvestof og op til 0,5 dele konserveringsmiddel sammen med op til 0,1 del antiskumningsmiddel og op til 2 dele ethylenglycol, hvor disse indføres i emulsionen.
I det følgende er der omtalt to eksempler på fugemasser, der er fundet at være af fremragende praktisk værdi.
