Den foreliggende opfindelse angår en fremgangsmåde til bekæmpelse af mikroorganismer, heterocycliske pentalenderivater og en fremgangsmåde til fremstilling af derivaterne.
Fra Perrier og Vialle, Bull. Soc. Chim. France, II, 1979, s. 199-208 5 og Beer and Poole, Tetrahedron Letters, nr. 18, 1972, s. 1835-36, kendes visse oxadithiadiaza- og dioxathiadiaza-2,5-pentalener med nedenstående kondenserede ringstruktur

W" hvor Y betegner svovl, og X betegner svovl eller oxygen. I ovenstående referencer er det angivet, at forbindelsen med denne kondenserede 10 ringstruktur kan fremstilles ved at omsætte en dioxim af en /J-diketon med svovlmonochlorid eller svovldichlorid, idet produktet typisk er en blanding af de to ringsystemer. Ligeledes fra Perrier og Vialle, Bull. Soc. Chim. France, nr. 12, 1971, s. 4591-2, kendes visse dioxa-selenadiaza- og dioxatelluradiaza-2,5-pentalener, hvor Y betegner 15 selen og tellur, og X betegner oxygen. Ingen af de ovenstående referencer angiver, at forbindelserne har nyttige biologiske egenskaber.
I EP offentliggørelsesskrift nr. 68 557 er det angivet, at visse oxadithiadiaza-, dioxaselenadiaza-, dioxatelluradiaza- og dioxathia-20 diaza-2,5-pentalener har nyttige herbicide egenskaber. Disse heterocycliske pentalenderivater er forbindelser med den almene formel I

hvor Y betegner svovl, selen eller tellur; kA og R2 hver for sig uafhængigt af hinanden betegner en eventuelt substitueret alkyl-25 eller arylgruppe eller en alkoxycarbonylgruppe, eller og R2 tilsammen betegner en alkylenkæde eller en alkylenkæde, der indeholder et heteroatom i kæden, idet hver kæde eventuelt er substitueret med 2 én eller flere alkylgrupper eller phenylgrupper eller en alkoxy-substitueret phenylgruppe, en benzylgruppe, en acylgruppe, en pyridyl-gruppe eller en furylgruppe under forudsætning af, at når heteroato-raet betegner svovl, forekommer det eventuelt i en oxideret form; og X 5 betegner oxygen, og derudover, når Y betegner svovl, betegner X eventuelt svovl; eller om muligt syreadditionssalte deraf.
I ingen af de ovenstående referencer er det beskrevet eller antydet, at nogen af de heterocycliske pentalenderivater kan udvise antimikro-biel virkning.
10 Mikroorganismer, fx bakterier, trådsvampe, gærarter, mikroalger og protozoer, kan have skadelige virkninger på mange forskellige miljøer, fx i industrielle produkter og fremgangsmåder, offentlige vandforsyninger, swimming-pools, befugtningsanlæg, kølesystemer og indenfor restaurationsbranchen og hospitalsvæsenet.
15 Sulfatreducerende bakterier kan have skadelige virkninger inden for olieproduktion og lagerfaciliteter. Patogene bakterier kan forårsage sygdomme hos mennesker og dyr. Til bekæmpelse af mikroorganismer kan der anvendes et biocidt eller biostatisk middel. I praksis er forskellen mellem biocid og biostatisk virkning, normalt et spørgsmål 20 om koncentrationen, idet det samme middel kan være biocidt ved højere koncentrationer og biostatisk ved lavere koncentrationer.
Det har nu overraskende vist sig, at en specifik underklasse af heterocycliske pentalenderivater, hvilken klasse omfatter nogle, men ikke alle af den klasse af forbindelser, som er beskrevet i EP of-25 fentliggørelsesskrift nr. 68 557 som havende herbicide egenskaber, er nyttig til bekæmpelse af mikroorganismer. Disse forbindelser kan anvendes både til bekæmpelse af patogene mikroorganismer hos mennesker og/eller dyr, og til bekæmpelse af mikroorganismer i industrielle miljøer, fx indenfor de ovenfor nævnte områder. Forbindelserne er 30 virksomme mod et bredt spektrum af mikroorganismer, herunder gram--positive og gram-negative bakterier.
Den foreliggende opfindelse bygger på denne erkendelse og angår en fremgangsmåde til bekæmpelse af mikroorganismer, undtagen til tera- 3
peutisk behandling af mennesker og/eller dyr, hvor et heterocyclisk pentalenderivat med den almene formel I

Foretrukne forbindelser med den almene formel I til anvendelse ved 15 fremgangsmåden ifølge den foreliggende opfindelse har ét eller flere af de følgende karakteristika: (i) Y betegner svovl, og R^- og R^ betegner tilsammen -CH2-S(0)n-CH2-, (ii) n er 2, og 20 (iii) X betegner svovl eller -SO-.
En særlig nyttig anvendelse af fremgangsmåden ifølge den foreliggende opfindelse ligger i bekæmpelse af sulfatreducerende bakterier.
Generelt er forbindelserne med den almene formel I enten kendte forbindelser som ovenfor anført, eller forbindelser, som kan fremstilles 25 ved analoge metoder til fremstilling af de kendte forbindelser, fx sådanne, som er beskrevet i EP offentliggørelseskrift nr. 68 557.
Visse forbindelser med den almene forbindelse I er hidtil ukendte. I overensstemmelse hermed angår opfindelsen også forbindelser med den almene formel I som ovenfor defineret, hvor Y betegner svovl, X 30 betegner svovl, og R*- og R^ tilsammen betegner 4 -CH2-C(CH3)2"CCl(CONH2) -, eller hvor X betegner -SO-, og Y, rA og har de i krav 1 anførte betydninger, idet og R^ fortrinsvis tilsammen betegner -CH2-SO2-CH2--
Opfindelsen angår yderligere en fremgangsmåde til fremstilling af en 5 forbindelse med den almene formel I som ovenfor defineret, hvor X betegner -SO-, og Y, R^- og R^ har de i krav 1 anførte betydninger, hvilken fremgangsmåde er ejendommelig ved, at en forbindelse med den almene formel I som ovenfor defineret, hvor X betegner svovl, og Y, R·*· og R^ har de i krav 1 anførte betydninger, behandles med et oxida-10 tionsmiddel, fortrinsvis en persyre, fx en perbenzoesyre, såsom meta-chlorperbenzoesyre. Reaktionen kan hensigtsmæssigt udføres under anvendelse af et opløsningsmiddel såsom chloroform ved omgivelses-temperatur.
Den foreliggende opfindelse angår yderligere en fremgangsmåde til 15 fremstilling af en forbindelse med den almene formel I som ovenfor defineret, hvor X og Y begge betegner svovl, og R^· og R^ tilsammen betegner -CH2-C(CH3)2-001(001¾) - > hvilken fremgangsmåde er ejendommelig ved, at 4-cyano-5,5-dimethyl-l,3-cyclohexadiondioxim omsættes med disvovldichlorid. Reaktionen kan hensigtsmæssigt udføres 20 ved en temperatur i området fra -65°C til omgivelsestemperatur, fx i et etheropløsningsmiddel såsom tetrahydrofuran.
Når forbindelserne med den almene formel I anvendes til terapeutiske formål, kan de formuleres som farmaceutiske præparater til indgift ad en hvilken som helst konventionel vej i analogi med antibiotika.
25 Forbindelsen foreligger da i en farmaceutisk ren form.
De farmaceutiske præparater kan foreligge i en form, der er egnet til optagelse gennem det gastrointestinale system, især når den aktive bestanddel udviser oral optagelse. Tabletter og kapsler til oral indgift kan foreligge i enhedsdosisform og kan indeholde konventionelle 30 excipienser såsom bindemidler, fx sirup, akacie, gelatine, sorbitol, traganth eller polyvinylpyrrolidon, fyldstoffer, fx laktose, sukker, majsstivelse, calciumphosphat, sorbitol eller glycin, tabletterings-glittemidler, fx magnesiumstearat, talkum, polyethylenglycol, silica, desintegranter, fx kartoffelstivelse, eller acceptable befugtnings- 5 midler såsom natriumlaurylsulfat. Tabletterne kan overtrækkes ved indenfor teknikken velkendte metoder. Orale flydende præparater kan foreligge i form af vandige eller olieagtige suspensioner, opløsninger, emulsioner, sirupper eller eleksirer, eller de kan foreligge 5 som et tørt produkt til rekons ti tut ion med vand eller en anden egnet bærer før brug. Sådanne flydende præparater kan indeholde konventionelle tilsætningsstoffer såsom suspenderingsmidler, fx sorbitolsirup, methylcellulose, glucose/sukkersirup, gelatine, hydroxyethylcellulo-se, carboxymethylcellulose, aluminiumetearatgel eller hydrogenerede 10 spiselige fedtstoffer, emulgeringsmidler, fx lecithin, sorbitanmonoo-leat eller akacie, ikke-vandige bærere, som kan omfatte spiselige olier, fx mandelolie, fraktioneret kokosnøddeolie, olieagtige estere, propylenglycol eller ethylalkohol, konserveringsmidler, fx methyl-eller propyl-p-hydroxybenzoater eller sorbinsyre. Suppositorier 15 indeholder konventionelle suppositoriumbaser, fx kakaosmør eller andre glycerider.
Forbindelserne ifølge den foreliggende opfindelse kan også formuleres til injektion og kan foreligge i enhedsdosisform i ampuller eller i multidosisbeholdere, om nødvendigt med et tilsat konserveringsmiddel. 20 Præparaterne kan også foreligge i form af suspensioner, opløsninger eller emulsioner i olieagtige eller vandige bærere, og de kan indeholde formuleringsmidler såsom suspenderings-, stabiliserings- og/el-ler dispergeringsmidler. Alternativt kan den aktive bestanddel foreligge i pulverform til rekonstitution før brug med en egnet bærer, 25 fx sterilt, pyrogen-frit vand.
Præparater til brug inden for veterinærmedicinen kan fx formuleres som intramammapræparater i basis med enten langsom eller hurtig frigivelse .
Når forbindelserne med den almene formel I anvendes inden for in-30 dustrielle områder, kan de inkorporeres direkte eller i form af et koncentreret præparat i produkterne, fx flydende produkter såsom vandbaserede malinger eller klæbemidler, eller i vandige omgivelser såsom kølesystemer, oplagringstanke eller i produktionsanlæg inden for olieindustrien, eller de kan anvendes i flydende præparater til 35 behandling af fx overflader. I flydende omgivelser kan forbindelserne 6 med den almene formel I typisk anvendes i koncentrationer i området fra 5 til 1000 mg/1 (5 til 1000 ppm).
Antimikrobielle præparater indeholdende forbindelser med den almene formel I kan imidlertid være i fast eller flydende form og kan inde-5 holde inerte, faste eller flydende bærestoffer.
Egnede inerte faste bærestoffer omfatter talkum, aluminium, majsstivelse, diatoméjord og -ler.
Egnede flydende bærestoffer omfatter vand; alkoholer, fx methanol, isopropylalkohol, isobutylalkohol; glycoler, fx ethylenglycol; keto-10 ner, fx acetone; ethyloxalat; dimethylformamid; dimethylacetamid; flydende carbonhydrider, fx petroleum; organiske syrer, fx eddikesyre. Blanding af forskellige flydende stoffer foretrækkes ofte.
Antimikrobielle præparater formuleres og transporteres ofte i koncentreret form, som efterfølgende fortyndes af forbrugeren før anvendel-15 se. Tilstedeværelsen af små mængder bærestof, som er et overfladeaktivt middel, letter denne fortyndingsproces. Det foretrækkes derfor, at mindst ét bærestof i et sådant præparat er et overfladeaktivt middel. Fx kan præparatet indeholde mindst to bærestoffer, hvoraf mindst det ene er et overfladeaktivt middel.
20 Et overfladeaktivt middel kan være et emulgeringsmiddel, et disper-geringsmiddel eller et befugtningsmiddel; det kan være ikke-ionisk eller ionisk. Eksempler på overfladeaktive midler omfatter natriumsal tene af polyacrylsyrer og ligninsulfonsyrer; kondensationsprodukter af fedtholdige syrer eller aliphatiske aminer eller amider inde-25 holdende mindst 12 carbonatomer i molekylet med ethylenoxid og/eller propylenoxid; fedtholdige syrerestere af glycerol, sorbitol, saccharose eller pentaerythritol; kondensater af disse med ethylenoxid og/eller propylenoxid; kondenseringsprodukter af fedtholdige alkoholer eller alkylphenoler, fx p-octylphenol eller p-octylcresol, med 30 ethylenoxid og/eller propylenoxid; sulfater eller sulfonater af disse kondenseringsprodukter; alkalimetal- eller jordalkalimetalsalte, fortrinsvis natriumsalte, af svovl- eller sulfonsyreestere med mindst 10 carbonatomer i molekylet, fx natriumlaurylsulfat, natrium-sek.al- i 7 kylsulfater, natriumsalte af sulfoneret ricinusolie og natriumalky-larylsulfonater, såsom natriumdodecylbenzensulfonat; og polymerer af ethylenoxid og copolymerer af ethylenoxid og propylenoxid.
De antimikrobielle præparater kan fx formuleres som opløsninger, 5 emulgerbare koncentrater, emulsioner, suspensionskoncentrater, pul vere, som er opløst i et egnet fortyndingsmiddel før anvendelse, eller som faste stoffer med langsom frigivelse af formuleringen ifølge den foreliggende opfindelse. Generelt kan sådanne præparater indeholde 5-95% aktiv bestanddel, fortrinsvis 10-50%, hvor det resterende 10 er hjælpestoffer, der konventionelt anvendes til sådanne præparater, fx inerte bærestoffer, tilsætningsstoffer såsom stabilisatorer (fx magnesiumchlorid, magnesiumnitrat og kobbernitrat) og/eller overfladeaktive midler.
Præparater indeholdende forbindelser med den almene formel I kan også 15 indeholde andre bestanddele, fx andre forbindelser med biocide egenskaber og kompatible forbindelser, såsom oxygenrensestoffer, korrosionsinhibitorer og af sætnings inhibitorer.
De følgende eksempler illustrerer den foreliggende opfindelse yderligere, idet eksempel 1 og eksempel 2 angår synteser af visse forbin-20 delser med den almene formel I, og eksempel 3 viser virkningen af forbindelser med den almene formel I ved bekæmpelse af mikroorganismer.
EKSEMPEL 1
Fremstilling af 5H,7H-oxa-2a,3,6-trithia(2a-S^)-1,4-diazacyclopent-25 [cd]inden-3-oxid-6,6-dioxid (forbindelse A) 4,1 g af forbindelsen fra eksempel 14 i EP offentliggørelsesskrift nr. 68 557, 5H,7H-2-oxa-2a,3,6-trithia(2a-SIV)-l,4-diazacyclopent-[cd]inden (20 mmol) blev opløst i 150 ml chloroform. Til den resulterende opløsning blev der under omrøring sat en opløsning af 11,9 g 30 meta-chlorperbenzoesyre (69 mmol) i 15 ml chloroform, og blandingen blev omrørt i 18 timer ved omgivelsestemperatur (20°C). 1,8 g me- 8 ta-chlorperbenzosyre (11 mmol) i 25 ml chloroform blev yderligere tilsat og omrøringen fortsattes ved omgivelsestemperatur i yderligere 18 timer. Chloroformet blev afdampet under reduceret tryk, remanensen blev opløst i ethylacetat, og den resulterende opløsning blev vasket 5 med mættet, vandigt natriumhydrogencarbonat, tørret over natriumsulfat og inddampet ved 40°C, hvilket gav en remanens, som blev chro-matograferet på en silicasøjle under anvendelse af ethylacetat som eluens. Det første eluerede bånd blev isoleret, og efter omkrystallisation vandtes 2,3 g (46%) af titelforbindelsen (formel I; Y=S, X=SO, 10 rA og bA tilsammen = -CH2-SO2-CH2-) som små gyldne blade med metallisk udseende, smeltepunkt 198°G (sønderdeling).

Fremstilling af 6-carboxamido-6-chlor-7,8-dihydro-7,7-dimethyl-6H-[1,2,3]dithiazol[4,5,1-hi][2,1,3]benzoxathiazol-3-S^ (forbindelse B) a) 11,5 g natriummetal (0,5 mol) blev opløst i 225 ml tørt ethanol ved omgivelsestemperatur (20°C). 60 g ethylcyanoacetat (0,53 mol) 20 blev tildryppet tinder omrøring ved omgivelsestemperatur. Til den resulterende opløsning blev der under omrøring dryppet mesityloxid, og blandingen blev opvarmet til kogning under tilbagesvaling i 4 timer. Efter afkøling blev blandingen ekstraheret med diethylether til fjernelse af eventuelt uomsat udgangsmateriale og syrnet med 2M 25 vandig saltsyre. Den brune olie, som udskiltes, blev ekstraheret med diethylether, tørret over natriumsulfat, inddampet og tritureret med petroleumsether (40-60°C), hvilket gav et bleggult fast stof, som efter omkrystallisation i diethylether gav 48,6 g (58,9%) 4-cyano- 5,5-dimethyll,3-cyclohexandion som et hvidt krystallinsk fast stof, 30 smeltepunkt 130-132eC.

Beregnet for CgHjjNC^: C 65,45 H 6,7 N 8,5 Fundet: C 65,8 H 7,0 N 8,6 b) 1,65 g 4-cyano-5,5-dimethyl-l,3-cyclohexandion (10 mmol), 1,4 g 5 hydroxylaminhydrochlorid (20 mmol) og 1,65 g natriumacetat (20 mmol) blev opløst sammen i 50 ml vand og opvarmet til kogning under tilbagesvaling i 30 min. Opløsningen blev afkølet til 0°C, og det resulterende bundfald blev frafiltreret og lufttørret, hvilket gav et gult pulver, som efter omkrystallisation i vand 10 gav 1,5 g 4-cyano-5,5-dimethyl-l,3-cyclohexandiondioxim (77%) som bleggule nåle, smeltepunkt 139-140°C med blødgørelse ved 105°C.

Beregnet for ¢9^0^0282: C 55,4 H 6,7 N21,5 Fundet: C 54,8 H 7,0 N 21,4 15 c) 13,7 g 4-cyano-5,5-dimethyl-l,3-cyclohexandiondioxim (70,25 mmol) blev opløst i 300 ml tørt tetrahydrofuran ved -65°C. 20,3 g disvovl-dichlorid (150 mmol) blev tildryppet under omrøring ved -65eC, og den resulterende gulbrune blanding blev omrørt i 16 timer, før den fik lov til at blive opvarmet til omgivelsestemperatur (20°C). Blan-20 dingen blev hældt ud i vand, ekstraheret med chloroform/methanol i volumenforholdet 9:1 og tørret over natriumsulfat. Efter chromato-grafi på en silicasøjle under eluering med chloroform/methanol i volumenforholdet 9:1 blev det mørkorange eluerede bånd inddampet, hvilket gav 3,0 g (14,6%) tilsammen af titelforbindelsen (formel I; 25 Y=S, X=S, R*- og r2 tilsammen = -CH2-0(CH3)2'CC1(C0NH2)-) som et svagt orange pulver, smeltepunkt 228°C (sønderdeling).

Med hensyn til de patogene bakterier S. aureus, B. subtilis og E. coli blev mikroorganismerne dyrket i 50 ml alikvoter af en trypton-soyanæringsvæske i 250 ml's koniske kolber ved 30°C i et roterende 30 "rysteapparat" ved 200 omdrejninger pr. minut i 24 timer. Trypton- 11 soyanæringsvæsken blev fremstillet ved tilsætning af 17 g bugspytfordøjelsesprodukt af casein, 3 g papainfordøj elsesprodukt af soyabønne-mel, 5 g natriumchlorid, 2,5 g dikaliumhydrogenphosphat og 2,5 g dextrose til 1 liter destilleret vand, blanding og sterilisering ved 5 kogning i autoklav ved 121°C i 15 min, 1 ml alikvoter af de resulterende kulturer blev blandet med 99 ml frisk tryptonsoyanæringsvæske og anvendt som podestoffer i forsøgene.
De sulfatreducerende bakterier Desulfovibrio sp. og D. salexigens blev dyrket i et modificeret Postgate's medium B i 24 timer ved 30°C 10 og anvendt direkte som podestof. Det modificerede Postgate's medium B bestod af 0,5 g dikaliumhydrogenphosphat, 1 g ammoniumchlorid, 1 g natriumsulfat, 5 g natriumlactat, 1 g gærekstrakt, 0,1 ml thiogly-colsyre, 0,1 ml ascorbinsyre, 0,5 g ferrosulfatheptåhydrat, 750 ml lagret havvand og 250 ml destilleret vand, pH-værdien var indstillet 15 på 7,8, og blandingen blev opdelt i alikvoter og steriliseret ved kogning i autoklav ved 121°C i 15 min.
Podestofferne af S. cerevisiae blev fremstillet på samme måde som for S. aureus, B. subtilis og E. coli, men under anvendelse af gær-malt-næringsvæske i stedet for tryptonsoyanæringsvæske. Gær-malt-nærings-20 væsken blev fremstillet ved suspension af 3 g gærekstrakt, 3 g maltekstrakt, 5 g pepton og 10 g dextrose i 1 liter destilleret vand, opvarmning til dannelse af en opløsning og sterilisering ved kogning i autoklav ved 121°C i 15 min.
Podestofferne af svampene Aspergillus niger og Cladosporium resinae 25 blev fremstillet med et indhold af 5x10^ conidier/ml i en kartoffel-dextrosenæringsvæske. Kartoffeldextrosenæringsvæsken blev fremstillet ved suspension af 4 g kartoffelekstrakt og 20 g dextrose i 1 liter destilleret vand, opvarmning til dannelse af en opløsning, adskillelse i alikvoter og sterilisering ved kogning i autoklav ved 121eC i 15 30 min.
Stamopløsninger af de forskellige testforbindelser blev fremstillet med indhold af 10.000 ppm (1 vægtprocent) forbindelse i destilleret vand (i tilfælde af, at forbindelsen ikke blev opløst, blev indtil 4 volumenprocent acetone tilsat stamopløsningen). Forsøg viste, at der 12 ved sådanne niveauer af acetone ikke kunne observeres nogen ugunstige virkninger på væksten af de ovenfor nævnte mikroorganismer. Forsøgene blev udført som følger, alt afhængigt af, om forsøget var imod sulfatreducerende bakterier (Desulfovibrio sp. eller D. salexigens) 5 eller de andre testbakterier, gærkulturer og trådsvampe.
i) Forsøg med fortyndingsrække for sulfatreducerende bakterier.
9,9 ml dobbelte alikvoter af fortyndingsrækken fra stamopløsningerne af hver forbindelse blev fremstillet i den ovenfor beskrevne modificerede Postgate's medium B. Disse indeholdt 25 og 50 ppm forbindelse. 10 Disse blev podet med 0,1 ml podestof af en af de ovenfor nævnte sulfatreducerende bakterier. Efter inkubation ved 30°C blev tilstedeværelsen af eller manglen på vækst - som viste sig ved en formørkelse af dyrkningsvæsken på grund af produktion af ferrosulfid - målt ved 2, 5 og 10 dage. Forbindelser, der var virksomme ved 25 ppm, blev 15 yderligere testet ved lavere koncentrationer på 5, 10 og 15 ppm.
ii) Forsøg med fortyndingsrække for de andre testbakterier, gærkulturer og trådsvampe.
Dobbelte fortyndingsrækker fra stamopløsningerne af hver forbindelse blev fremstillet i sterilt destilleret vand. Disse indeholdt 50, 20 100, 500, 1000 og 5000 ppm forbindelse.
Til en række kvadratiske petriskåle med 5 rum sattes 0,3 ml af hver testforbindelses koncentration sammen med 2,7 ml af et af de ovenfor nævnte mikrobielle podestoffer. Dette gav afsluttende koncentrationer af testforbindelsen på 5, 10, 50, 100 og 500 ppm.
25 Efter inkubation i mørke ved 30°C blev skålene undersøgt for tilstedeværelse af eller mangel på vækst. Bakterielle kulturer og gærkulturer blev undersøgt efter en inkubationstid på henholdsvis 24 timer og 72 timer, svampekulturene efter 3,7 og 10 dage.

Bakterielle kulturer og gærkulturer blev bedømt som følger: +++ = god vækst = kontrolkultur ++ = vækst + = ringe vækst 5 - = ingen vækst.
Svampekulturene blev bedømt som følger: +++ = god mycelievækst og sporedannelse ++ = mycelievækst med reduceret sporedannelse + = ringe mycelievækst uden sporedannelse 10 - = ingen vækst.
Ved afslutning af hvert forsøg blev de rum, der ikke viste nogen vækst, undersøgt for mikrobiostatisk eller mikrobiocid virkning af forbindelsen ved at lave stregkulturer af indholdet på et egnet agarmedium. Efter inkubation ved 30°C i 24 timer blev pladerne undersøgt 15 for tilstedeværelse af eller mangel på vækst.
Ved hjælp af de ovenfor nævnte forsøg blev de minimale inhibitoriske koncentrationer bestemt for de forskellige testforbindelser, dvs. de minimale koncentrationer, ved hvilke ingen vækst blev observeret.
Til sammenligningsformål blev de ovenfor nævnte forsøg også udført 20 under anvendelse af standardforbindelser, der er tilgængelige i handelen. Standardforbindelsen anvendt i relation til de sulfatreducerende bakterier var XC-102 ™ (ex Petrolite), som er en 25 vægtprocents opløsning af glutaraldehyd i vand, og standardforbindelsen anvendt i relation til de øvrige mikroorganismer var det bredspektrede anti-25 mikrobielt KA.THON©893 (ex Rohm & Haas), som omfatter 2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-on.
Resultaterne af de forskellige forsøg fremgår af tabel I nedenfor. I tabellen referer en forbindelses betegnelse såsom Εϋ 1 til forbindelsen ifølge eksempel 1 i EP offentliggørelsskrift nr. 68 557.

Claims (8)
1. Fremgangsmåde til bekæmpelse af mikroorganismer, undtagen til terapeutisk behandling af mennesker og/eller dyr, hvor et hetero-cyclisk pentalenderivat med den almene formel I
2. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, kendetegnet ved, at i derivatet med den almene formel I, betegner Y svovl, og R^· og R^ betegner tilsammen -CH2-S(0)n-CH2-, hvor n er som defineret i krav 1.
3. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 2, 20 kendetegnet ved, at i derivatet med den almene formel I, er n 2.
4. Fremgangsmåde ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1-3, kendetegnet ved, at i derivatet med den almene formel I, betegner X svovl eller -S0-.
5. Fremgangsmåde ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1-4, kendetegnet ved, at mikroorganismen er en sulfatreducerende bakterie.

6. Forbindelse med den i krav 1 definerede almene formel I, hvor enten Y betegner svovl, X betegner svovl, og rA og rA tilsammen betegner -CH2-C(CH3)2-CCl(CONH2)-> eller hvor X betegner -SO-, og Y, rA og har de i krav 1 anførte betydninger.
7. Fremgangsmåde til fremstilling af en forbindelse med den i et hvilket som helst af kravene 1-4 definerede almene formel I, hvor X betegner -SO-, og Y, rA og rA har de i krav 1 anførte betydninger, kendetegnet ved, at en forbindelse med den i krav 1 definerede almene formel I, hvor X betegner svovl, og Y, rA og R^ har 10 de i krav 1 anførte betydninger, behandles med et oxideringsmiddel.
8. Fremgangsmåde til fremstilling af en forbindelse med den i krav 1 definerede almene formel I, hvor X og Y begge betegner svovl, og R^· og rA tilsammen betegner -CH2-C(CH3)2-CC1(C0NH2)-, kendetegnet ved, at 4-cyano-5,5-dimethyl-l,3-cyclohexadi-15 ondioxim omsættes med disvovldichlorid.
