Claims (22)
1. Forbindelse med den generelle formel I:
hvor: — betegner en enkelt eller dobbelt binding; og (i) R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 er uafhængigt valgt fra H, OH eller en gruppe ifølge formel (la):
(la) hvor: O er oxygen; L og D er manglende og E er en ester ifølge formlen (Ic):
(Ic) hvor Q er en ikke-substitueret lineær eller forgrenet kæde alkylen med 1 til 6 kulstofatomer; W er O; og X er H, substitueret eller ikke-substitueret alkyl, et mono-kationisk salt, eller et ammonium kationisk salt; og forudsat at mindst et af R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 er andet end H eller OH; eller dets farmaceutisk acceptable salt.
2. Forbindelse ifølge krav 1, hvor R4 og R5 begge er H.
3. Forbindelse ifølge krav 2, hvor R1 og R2 begge er OH.
4. Forbindelse ifølge krav 1, hvor hvert af R1, R2 og R4 er H.

Forbindelse ifølge krav 1 valgt fra gruppen omfattende 3-(benzyloxycarbonylbutylcarbonyloxy)flavon; 3-hydroxyflavon 3-hemiadipat; 4'-(benzyloxy)-3-(benzyloxycarbonylbutylcarbonyloxy)flavon; 4'-hydroxyflavon 3-hemiadipat; 3',4'-dibenzyloxy-3-(benzyloxycarbonylbutylcarbonyloxy)flavon; 3',4'-dihydroxyflavon 3-hemiadipat; 3,4'-di- (benzyloxycarbonylbutylcarbonyloxy)flavon; flavon 3,4'-bis(hemiadipat); 3,7-di-(benzyloxycarbonylbutylcarbonyloxy)flavon; 3,7-dihydroxyflavon 3,7-bis(hemiadipat); eller 4'-dydroxy-3-dydroxyflavon-3-kvarternær ammoniumester.
8. Forbindelse omfattende en farmaceutisk og/eller veterinær acceptabel bærer eller fortynder sammen med mindst en forbindelse ifølge et hvilket som helst af de foregående krav.
9. Forbindelse ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 7 til anvendelse i forebyggelse og/eller behandling af en eller flere sygdomme hos et individ associeret med tilstedeværelsen af reaktive ilt arter (ROS).
10. Forbindelse ifølge krav 9, hvor individet som har brug for sådan behandling har risiko for at udvikle iskæmi.

13. Forbindelse ifølge krav 12, hvor den akutte tilstand er valgt fra slagtilfælde, myokardieinfarkt, mekanisk traume som resultat af knusningslæsion eller kirurgi.
14. Forbindelse ifølge krav 13, hvor kirurgien er karkirurgi.
15. Forbindelse ifølge krav 14, hvor karkirurgien er hjerte-bypass og/eller transplantationskirurgi.
16. Forbindelse ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 7 til anvendelse i forebyggelse af, forsinke påbegyndelsen af og/eller nedsætte udviklingen af aterosklerose og/eller hjertekarsygdom hos et individ.
17. Forbindelse ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 7 til anvendelse i forebyggelse af og/eller mindst forbedre skaden hos et individ forårsaget af iskæmi og/eller reperfusionskade.
18. Forbindelse ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 7 til anvendelse i forebyggelse og/eller mindst forbedre skaden hos et individ forårsaget af administrationen af et terapeutisk middel.
19. Forbindelse ifølge krav 18, hvor det terapeutiske middel er et oxidativt terapeutisk middel.
20. Forbindelse ifølge krav 18, hvor det terapeutiske middel er et anticancermiddel.
21. Forbindelse ifølge krav 20, hvor anticancermidlet er anthracyclin og homologer deraf.
22. Forbindelse ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 9 til 21, hvor forbindelsen er administreret til individet oralt.
