Abstract

To produce fine printing patterns on large screen printing frames, use can be made of an exposure through correspondingly large film surfaces but it is less expensive to use successive linear exposure using a modulated light or laser beam which is made to sweep over an emulsion-coated printing frame surface from an oscillating deflecting mirror. The beam 20 is, in its outer positions, inclined in towards the surface 14, and if the latter changes the distance from the oscillating mirror 20, the exposure lines 16 will become correspondingly shorter or longer, as a result of which the printing pattern can be deformed. According to the invention, this is counteracted by the beam being made to pass through a lens beam 56 which is arranged directly in front of the exposure line and adapted so as, everywhere along the line, to deflect the beam to right-angled incidence on the surface, as a result of which the line length remains unchanged in the event of variations in distance. The width of the lens beam 56 should be at least two line widths, as the invention also provides for a transverse displacement of the beam in order that the latter can, with great working speed, be delivered from a sympathetically vibrating goniometer mirror 48 without overlapping between the exposure lines. <IMAGE>
