Abstract

An inflatable rescue slide, which can be folded out to provide an inclined descent path for persons to be evacuated, has a first and a second inflatable slide section fitted side by side, each slide section having a slideway, and the two slideways 16 and 17 being separated by an inflatable centre wall 13. One or more separating members 20 extend through the entire length of the centre wall 13 and subdivide this internally into non- communicating first and second compartments or series of compartments, the first compartment or series of compartments forming part of and being inflated together with the first slide section, and the second compartment or series of compartments forming part of and being inflated together with the second slide section. Inlet elements 23, 24, 25 and 26 are provided for inflating each slide section independently of the inflation of the other slide section. In the event of loss or deficiency in the inflation of one slide section, the flexible separating members 20 will be dilated during inflation of the other slide section, or can be dilated by additional inflation of the other slide section to compensate for the failed or deficient inflation of the compartment or series of compartments of the centre wall 13 in the non- inflated or under-inflated slide section. <IMAGE>
