Abstract

In order to avoid dirt and moisture penetrating the connection between two pipes, a connecting element for pipes, in particular steel-armoured conduits, is produced, instead of expensive threaded sleeves, in which element the outer surface of a smooth connecting sleeve 1 is surrounded by a sealing sleeve 2 made of elastic material. The sealing sleeve 2 has annular shoulders 2a which project in the longitudinal direction beyond the surface 1a of the connecting sleeve and project inwardly over the two end surfaces 1b of the connecting sleeve 1. The internal diameter of the shoulders is slightly smaller than the external diameter of the pipes 3 which are to be connected. The shoulders 2a are moreover externally shaped so as to receive a clamping band, for example a cable tie, and, for fastening the latter, they are preferably provided with outwardly directed collars 2b. <IMAGE>
