Abstract

Auxiliary device for placing a T-shaped intra-uterine contraceptive device, a so-called coil 26, in such a way into a tube 27 for introduction into the uterus that the branches 31 and 31' of the coil are folded against its body 29 and the coil is then introduced into the tube 27 over such a length that the free ends of the branches 31 and 31' are surrounded by the tube 27, whilst the body 29 and the branches 31 and 31' project beyond the tube 27 with a predefined length. The auxiliary device has a recess 15, which is formed by opposite side walls 13 and 13' and an intermediate rear wall 14 and converges in the direction of the rear wall and into which the lead-in tube 27, with the body 29 of the coil 26 inserted in the tube 27, can be slid, whereupon the branches 31 and 31' of the coil are folded together in the direction of the body. At a distance from the rear wall 14, the recess 15 contains holding members 18 and 18' for securing the folded coil 26 when the lead-in tube 27, following folding of the coil, is withdrawn a bit and the recess is configured such that the branches 31 and 31' of the coil 26, following withdrawal of the tube 27, are brought close enough together that their free ends are enclosed by the tube 27 when this is pushed back in a bit towards the rear wall, so that a predefined length of the body 29 and branches 31 and 31' remains outside the lead-in tube 27. <IMAGE>
