Abstract

An installation for purifying sewage comprises a pump 13 for carrying sewage to the installation and an injection inlet 15 for injecting a chemical into the outlet conduit 14 from the pump 13. The pump 13 leads to a pair of mutually connected U-shaped mixing chambers 171, 172 which are connected to the outlet conduit 14 from the pump 13 and which possess plates 181 and are of a special construction. Recirculation also takes place from the inlet conduit 14 to the mixing chambers back to the pump 13 for the purpose of recirculating approx. 1-20% of the total flow rate, consisting of approx. 20-160 l/min, through the installation. The U-shaped mixing chambers also possess at least two injection inlets 178, 180 for injecting chemicals into the chambers. A dividing chamber 21 for producing two parallel flow outlet conduits 25, 27 from the chamber is connected to the outlet 19 from the mixing chambers 171, 172. A separation chamber 30, which has a construction 39, 42 for separating sludge from the chamber and for removing the sludge from the bottom 41, 44 of the chamber and for removing pure water from the uppermost central core 35, 38 of the chamber is connected to these parallel flow conduits 25, 27.
