Dihydrodibenzothiepin derivative, pharmaceutical preparation containing the derivative and method for its preparation. 11-(3-dimethylaminopropylidene)-6,11-dihydrodibenzo(b,e)- thiepin-2-carbonitrile with the formula <IMAGE>, I or pharmaceutically acceptable salts display inhibition of the uptake of neurotransmitter amines and are therefore useful in treatment of depressions. The compound is prepared in various ways from starting materials with the dihydrodibenzothiepin skeleton.
