Abstract
La invención se refiere a un dispositivo y un proceso para la desalinización de soluciones de NaCl que emplea una celda electroquímica de tres cámaras separadas por membranas de intercambio iónico relativas, a saber, una sucesión de una cámara catódica (16; 116), una membrana de intercambio catiónico (28; 128), una cámara central (12; 112) para la solución salina, una membrana de intercambio aniónico (26; 126) y una cámara anódica (14; 114). La oxidación de OH- y la reducción de H3O+ bajo la formación de OH- y H2 provoca el paso de iones Na+ y Cl- de la cámara central a las otras cámaras, reduciendo así la concentración de sal. La alimentación de la cámara catódica puede gestionarse en circuito con la inserción de un reactor de carbonatación (50) para reducir la concentración de NaOH y eliminar el CO2 del aire. En determinadas condiciones, los cloruros que entran en la cámara anódica se oxidan y el cloro formado en ella reacciona con el agua para producir HCl y HClO.
