Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for precision manufacture of balls of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1 and a grinding and lapping machine of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 2 for performing this method.
  • the invention relates to a method and a device for the precision production of steel balls.
  • Grinding and lapping machines for ball production are known from the common prior art, in which the grinding wheels and lapping wheels, hereinafter referred to as processing wheels for short, are arranged vertically or horizontally. At least one of the machining disks is not rotatable (stator disk) and at least one counter disk is rotatable (rotor disk). The balls are ground and lapped between these processing disks. Grinding and lapping machines of this type are designed for continuous ball passage. For this purpose, a circular ring sector is cut out in the stator disk and is divided into an inlet sector and an outlet sector by a radial guide and partition.
  • Circular ring magazines have proven their worth for precision production in a horizontal plane. Such ring magazines are turntable conveyors with an annular, generally circular conveyor channel. They can be used in conjunction with vertical as well as horizontal processing disks.
  • a ball grinding machine with a circular workpiece buffer which is designed as a horizontally rotating ring magazine.
  • the balls entering the exit sector from the grinding or lapping disks hereinafter referred to as "processing disks" for short, are conveyed out of the exit sector by an endless belt serving as a deflector, which is guided over two deflection rollers, at least one of which can be driven the ring magazine is forced into it.
  • the two deflection rollers of the deflector stand on a transition plate with bevels and lifters.
  • Ball belt is understood to mean the entirety of all orbiting balls.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a method for the precision manufacture of balls on a grinding and lapping machine with a continuous ball pass and a horizontally rotating ring magazine and a device for performing this method, in which the rotating workpiece quantity no dead volume stack pile builds up, in particular does not form such stacks in the outlet sector.
  • the main idea of the invention is therefore to form the required stack of workpieces not as a stack at the end of a conveyor section, but as a discharge stack at the beginning of a horizontal conveyor section.
  • the formation of a stack of jams in the outlet sector is switched off by an additional radial conveyor, which begins at the radially inner boundary wall of the outlet sector.
  • This radial delivery is effected by a delivery fluid, preferably a flushing liquid fed under pressure.
  • this lifting conveyor is preferably a cellular wheel sluice with good entry in the axial conveying direction at the lowest point of the housing and good exit in the radial direction over the entire axial width of the cell at a level below the horizontal plane running through the axis of the rotor shaft.
  • the ball enters the cellular wheel sluice, which is used here as a lifting conveyor, under forced conveyance by means of a conveying fluid, preferably water or an aqueous detergent solution.
  • the balls roll freely from the cellular wheel wing through the outlet opening on the side of the housing.
  • the rotation of the cellular wheel is preferably briefly interrupted whenever one wing of the cellular wheel is aligned with the outlet opening and the transfer bevel surface adjoining it to the outside.
  • the duration of the interruption of the rotary movement of the cellular wheel is dimensioned such that, when the cell is fully loaded, the last ball is also rolled out of the cell before the following wing of the cellular wheel is guided into the outlet position and stopped again.
  • This discontinuous drive of the rotor shaft of the cellular wheel sluice can be carried out, for example, by a discontinuously operated drive or, with the interposition of a suitable stepping mechanism, also by a continuously operated drive.
  • a discontinuously operated drive or, with the interposition of a suitable stepping mechanism, also by a continuously operated drive.
  • an inclined surface is formed, onto which the balls roll out of the respectively advanced cell.
  • the balls then run on this inclined surface and are at the end of the inclined surface over an open edge, i. H. So pass over an edge without a guide bar or stop in the ring magazine.
  • This outlet or discharge edge is preferably at least a few ball layers, preferably of the order of approximately 10 ball layers, above the sole of the ring magazine, the conveyor table of which runs vertically below the discharge edge.
  • the distance between the discharge edge and the bottom of the ring magazine lying vertically below this is preferably closed by a smooth vertical wall, a sufficiently large gap remaining between the conveyor table forming the bottom of the ring magazine and the lower edge of this wall, on the one hand, for free and unimpeded leakage to ensure the conveyor table, but on the other hand to prevent bullet entry.
  • the inclined surface between the outlet opening in the housing of the cellular wheel sluice and the discharge edge lying in the ring magazine preferably has a sieve, grating or grating section over the entire width of the rolling surface, which covers a chute located underneath.
  • the openings of this route are as large as possible, but in any case they are kept small enough to be overrun by the balls. Through these openings, however, abrasion or breakage carried along with the balls can be thrown out of the processing disks and other contaminants carried along can be thrown off. When using a wet delivery fluid, the delivery fluid can also be drawn off at this point.
  • FIG. 1 the most important elements of an embodiment of the grinding and lapping machine are shown in a schematic partial view and in plan view.
  • the processing disks namely the stator disk 1 and the rotor disk 2 (FIG. 2) are arranged horizontally and one above the other.
  • the rotor disk 2 rotates counterclockwise around an axis 3 perpendicular to the plane of illustration in FIG.
  • the outer edge of the inlet sector 5 and the outlet sector 6 are connected to the inner edge of a ring magazine 7, the circular conveyor table 8 of which rotates clockwise and essentially at the same height as the rotor disk 2.
  • the balls passing through as a relatively tightly packed single-layer band are transferred from the ring magazine 7 to the inlet sector 5 and run from there between the processing disks 1, 2 around the stator disk 1 and enter after a processing revolution of not quite 360 ° the outlet sector 6. From there, in the manner explained in more detail below, they are returned to the ring magazine 7 via a cellular wheel sluice 10, which serves as a lifting conveyor, namely in its feed area 11. From there, they are again on the horizontally rotating table 8 to the exit 9 of the ring magazine 7 promoted.
  • This ball passage is indicated in Fig. 1 by arrows.
  • FIG. 2 shows a section according to AB in FIG. 1, that is to say a section in the view from radially outside to radially inside into the outlet sector 6 onto its radially inner guide and boundary wall 12.
  • This inner boundary wall 12 is therefore aligned essentially tangentially and borders on one side to the radially aligned partition 4, on the other side to the radial edge of the stator disk 1 and the stator disk carrier 13.
  • the rotor disk 2 is driven with the direction of rotation from left to right (arrow in FIG. 2). As a result, the balls 14 are also conveyed from left to right in the illustration in FIG.
  • the balls 14 are lifted out of the lapping grooves 16 by a short flat wedge 15 and lifted onto a flat and completely horizontal rolling surface 17 (cf. also FIG. 1).
  • at least one conveying fluid nozzle 18 (FIG. 3) is tightly located in the radially inner tangential boundary wall 12 of the outlet sector 6 the horizontal rolling surface 17 is provided.
  • a conveying fluid preferably water or an aqueous washing and rinsing agent, is radiated through this nozzle 18 and conveys the balls running on the horizontal rolling surface 17 radially outward from the outlet sector 6.
  • the direction of the delivery fluid jet emerging from the delivery fluid nozzle 18 is indicated in FIG. 1 by arrows 19.
  • the conveying fluid star 18 can be designed in the manner shown in Fig. 2 as a slot nozzle or as a series of perforated nozzles.
  • further conveying fluid nozzles 20 can be provided in front of the rear boundary wall 12. While the auxiliary nozzles 20 can, however, possibly be dispensed with, the arrangement of the conveying fluid nozzles 18 in the rear boundary wall 12 is indispensable in order to exclude with certainty the formation of a dead volume in the case of ball conveyance directed radially outward with respect to the machining disks.
  • the balls 14 conveyed horizontally and radially free of jams and stacks by the conveying fluid jet 19 out of the outlet sector 6 are transferred axially via a connecting bridge 21 through the open end face 22 into the cellular wheel sluice 10, which is also arranged horizontally.
  • the cellular wheel sluice 10 has a horizontally mounted rotor shaft 23, to which wing blades 24 are fastened, which rotate with only a small radial clearance to the inner wall surface in a cylindrical housing 25, namely counterclockwise in the illustration in FIG. 4.
  • the deepest level 26 of the horizontally lying housing 25 lies in or only slightly below the level of the horizontal rolling surface 17 of the outlet sector 6. “Slightly” means that the difference in level between the two surfaces 17 and 26 is not more than about one ball diameter.
  • the rotational speed of the rotor shaft 23 or, in the case of intermittent operation, the average rotational speed of the rotor shaft 23 is dimensioned such that backflow of the balls axially introduced into the cellular wheel sluice on the rear wall 27 (FIG. 1) is impossible. Just as on the dividing wall 4, the balls must not be piled up by back pressure on the closed end wall 27 of the rotary valve 10 under all circumstances.
  • the balls 14 thus inserted axially into the cells 28 of the rotary valve 10 through the conveying fluid jet 19 axially through the open end face 22 are then turned in the manner recognizable from FIG. 4 by the rotation the cellular wheel under guidance through the cylindrical inner wall of the lock housing 25 raised from its entry level.
  • the housing 25 has an outlet edge or outlet opening 29, at which the balls 14 emerge from the rotary valve 10.
  • the lower edge of the outlet opening 29 lies at a height level below the horizontal plane defined by the axis 30 of the rotor shaft 23.
  • the rotor shaft 23 is preferably driven intermittently by a stepping mechanism 31 schematically indicated in FIG. 1, for example a radial slot driver, in such a way that the wing 24, more precisely, its surface, which carries the balls, is briefly stopped in alignment with the ball outlet opening 29 until the ball 14 'closest to the rotor shaft 23 has also rolled off the wing 24.
  • a stepping mechanism 31 schematically indicated in FIG. 1, for example a radial slot driver
  • the inclined surface 32 is provided with lateral guide plates, not shown in the figures, and runs at its lower end into a discharge edge 33, which is at a height, preferably at a height of a few ball layers, preferably approximately ten ball layers, above the surface of the conveyor table 8 of the ring magazine 7 lies.
  • the distance between the discharge edge 33 and the conveying surface of the ring table 8 is preferably closed by a smooth vertical boundary wall 34.
  • the conveyor disc 8 which rotates from left to right on the lower edge 36 of the vertical boundary wall 34 in the illustration in FIG. 4, always carries along the entire stack 35, which then becomes at least essentially in the course of further ring conveyance under its own gravity single-layer horizontal densities free of dead volume with a view to promoting spreading. Due to the balls 14 falling out of the cellular wheel cells 28 at the beginning of the conveying path in the ring magazine 7, the ball stack 35 is always formed anew as a discharge stack.
  • the inclined surface 32 is preferably designed as a grate, perforated plate or sieve 37, under which a collecting chute 38 with an extraction channel 39 opens.
  • the openings of the screen cover 37 are dimensioned so large that with the conveying fluid also the fine-grained impurities carried off fall into the collecting shaft 38, while the openings in the screen 37 are at the same time so small that they are overrun by the balls 14 without the rolling movement the ball is inhibited.
  • the conveying fluid which is injected through the conveying fluid nozzles 18 and 20 is separated by gaps on the conveying path, in particular by an annular gap at the bottom of the ring magazine 7 , discharged into a collecting container located under the machine.
  • the inclined surface 32 for transferring the balls from the rotary valve 10 into the ring magazine 7 is preferably designed as a plane in the manner shown in FIG. 4 and arranged such that its rearward extension beyond the ball outlet opening 29 also extends over the central axis 30 of the rotor shaft 23 of the rotary valve 10 cuts. This configuration ensures that, in the aligned position shown in FIG. 4, the surfaces 24 and 32 lie in one plane between the vanes 24 of the cellular wheel and the outlet opening 29.
