Definitions
- the invention relates to an adjustable nozzle on a hand-operated liquid atomizer, which has a threaded attachment connected via a connecting line to a piston pump arranged in the atomizer, with a cavity provided in the threaded attachment and open towards the free end of the threaded attachment, one at the mouth of the connecting line into the cavity provided valve seat for a check valve body, a holding bush inserted into the cavity with tension, a swirl body which can be displaced to a limited extent in the holding bush, a nozzle cap which carries the nozzle opening and can be screwed onto the threaded attachment, and an annular seal which is arranged on the end of the holding bush protruding from the threaded attachment and causes a seal between the latter and the nozzle cap.
- the check valve body is arranged on the rear end of the swirl body facing the valve seat. Since the cylinder space of the pump cylinder is directly connected to the cavity in the threaded connection via the connecting line, the check valve body is pressed against the valve seat by the vacuum that is created during the suction stroke of the piston. During the pressure stroke of the piston, on the other hand, the check valve body is lifted off the valve seat and moved together with the swirl body in the direction of the nozzle opening, the swirl body resting on the inside of the nozzle cap with its swirl plate arranged at the front end.
- the liquid present in the cylinder chamber and in the connecting line can drip out of the nozzle when not in use, provided that the nozzle cap is not screwed tightly onto the threaded attachment each time. Since the swirl body is connected to the check valve body, it is lifted from the inside of the nozzle cap with each piston stroke or brought back into contact with the nozzle cap. Thereby, the spray can to the start of each piston stroke have a 'different shape.
- a holding sleeve made of plastic is also inserted into the threaded attachment with tension.
- a swirl body made of plastic can be displaced to a limited extent in the holder bush.
- the swirl body is hollow towards the valve seat and a compression spring is arranged in its cavity, which presses the valve cone against the valve seat.
- an additional sealing ring is also provided, which creates a seal between the screwed-on nozzle cap and the holding sleeve.
- this known nozzle has the disadvantage that an additional valve cone and a valve spring have to be manufactured and assembled. An additional sealing ring is also required.
- the holding bush is only held in the cavity of the threaded attachment by its fit. If not maintenance of precise tolerances or in the event of material fatigue, the holding sleeve can be pressed out of the threaded attachment under the action of the compression spring, as a result of which the function of the nozzle and the check valve are impaired.
- nozzle known (DE-OS 26 49 915) whose spray jet is not yet adjustable.
- the swirl body is made of plastic, the check valve body is arranged on the end of the swirl body facing the valve seat, forms an extension and is connected to the swirl body via two semicircular elastic webs. These elastic webs form a compression spring, so to speak, which normally press the valve body onto the valve seat.
- the swirl body is constantly supported on the inside of the nozzle cap, the shape of the spray or jet emerging from the nozzle opening cannot be changed.
- the invention has for its object to provide an adjustable nozzle on a hand-operated liquid atomizer of the type mentioned, which always ensures a secure seal of the check valve body while maintaining the adjustability of the spray or spray and is characterized by a small number of individual parts.
- check valve body is arranged on the end of the holding sleeve facing the valve seat, forms an extension thereof and is connected to the holding sleeve by means of a plurality of elastic, essentially radially extending webs and in that the holding sleeve, non-return valve body and webs all come from one single plastic molded part made of elastic plastic.
- This configuration has the advantage that the check valve body is always pressed against the valve seat with a certain slight prestress under the tension of the elastic webs. This creates a good sealing effect on the check valve regardless of the respective position of the atomizer. A good pumping action of the piston pump is thus always ensured and, moreover, it is prevented that liquid does not escape from the connecting line and the cylinder space when not in use.
- the new nozzle is also characterized by a very simple structure. Retaining sleeve, check valve body and the webs consist of a single molded plastic part, which is cheap to manufacture. Installation is also simplified, since practically only the holding bush with the parts molded onto it needs to be inserted into the threaded attachment.
- An advantageous embodiment consists in that the holding bush has on its part inserted into the cavity an outwardly projecting annular bead which engages in an annular groove of the cavity, the annular bead being provided in the region of the webs.
- the ring seal is expediently formed as an annular sealing lip in one piece with the holding bush.
- the length of the check valve and the swirl body is dimensioned so that the completely screwed nozzle cap presses against the swirl body and the latter against the valve body and thus holds it in the closed position.
- This configuration is advantageous if the atomizer is screwed onto a bottle filled with liquid and the bottle is to be transported together with the atomizer. In this case, no liquid can escape from the nozzle regardless of the respective position of the atomizer and even if pressure is exerted on the pump lever unintentionally.
- 1 denotes a pistol-like housing which has a handle part 2 which is perpendicular in the normal position and a barrel part 3 which is horizontal in the normal position.
- a pump cylinder 4 extending in the direction of the handle part is arranged in the handle part 2.
- a threaded projection 5 is provided for screwing on a nozzle cap 6.
- This threaded attachment 5 has a cavity 7 that is open toward the free end of the running part.
- the cavity 7 is connected to the cylinder 4 via a connecting line 9.
- a valve seat 30 for a check valve body 8 is provided at the mouth of the connecting line 9 into the cavity 7.
- a holding bush 31 with tension is inserted into the cavity 7.
- the valve body 8 is arranged and forms an extension of the holding sleeve.
- the check valve body 8 is connected to the holding bush 31 via a plurality of essentially radially extending webs 32 - in the exemplary embodiment shown, as can be seen from FIG. 3, four such webs 32 are provided.
- the webs 32 are expediently curved convexly towards the check valve body 8.
- the holding sleeve 31, the webs 32 and the check valve body 8 consist of a single injection molded plastic part and are made of elastic plastic.
- the parts are dimensioned such that the check valve body 8 is pressed against the valve seat 30 by pretensioning the webs 32.
- the holding sleeve 31 can be easily inserted into the cavity 7 on the one hand and on the other hand is not pressed out of the cavity by the pretensioning of the elastic webs 32, it is expedient if the holding sleeve 31 has an outwardly projecting annular bead on its part inserted into the cavity 7 33, which engages in an annular groove 34 of the cavity 7.
- the annular bead 33 is provided in the area of the webs, since in this area the retaining bush 31 also has greater elasticity. It can therefore be slightly compressed when inserted into the cylindrical cavity 7. After it has been pushed completely into the cavity 7, the annular bead 33 engages in the annular groove 34 and thus locks the holding bush 31 with respect to the threaded attachment 5.
- An annular sealing lip 35 is expediently provided on the part of the retaining bush 31 projecting beyond the threaded shoulder 5, which is produced in one piece with the retaining bush. This sealing lip 35 ensures a good seal between the nozzle cap 6 and the holding sleeve 31. In addition, it generates a certain amount of friction between the two parts, so that the nozzle cap cannot be adjusted unintentionally.
- the central nozzle opening 37 is provided in the front wall 6a of the nozzle cap.
- a swirl body 38 is mounted within the holding sleeve 31 to be displaceable to a limited extent. In the exemplary embodiment shown, this takes place in that the holding sleeve 31 has a radially inwardly projecting shoulder 39 at its front end.
- the swirl body 38 has a plurality of projections 40 on its periphery, which are normally spaced from the shoulder 39.
- the swirl body 38 carries a swirl plate 41, which is designed in a known manner.
- the length of the check valve body 8 and the swirl body 38 are expediently dimensioned such that the nozzle cap 6, which is completely screwed on, presses against the swirl body 38.
- the latter acts on the check valve body 8 and then presses it against the valve seat 30. In this way, with the nozzle cap 6 fully screwed on, the check valve body 8 is pressed against the valve seat 30 regardless of the pretensioning of the webs 32 and a leakage of liquid is thus prevented.
- the check valve body 8 is expediently designed as a valve cone.
- Fig. 1 the nozzle is drawn in the transport position when the nozzle cap 6 is screwed completely onto the threaded extension 5.
- the check valve body 8 is pressed firmly against the valve seat 30 and thus an undesired leakage of liquid is prevented.
- the nozzle cap 6 is screwed slightly to the front, ie to the right according to FIG. 1. This creates a certain distance between the swirl plate 41 and the front wall 6a of the nozzle cap.
- the swirl body 38 can move in the holding sleeve 31 in the axial direction.
