Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing a planographic printing plate by electrophotography.
- Such methods are known and described for example in DE-PS 11 17 391, DE-OS 23 22 047 and DE-OS 25 26 720.
- a photoconductor layer which is located on an electrically conductive substrate, is charged, imagewise exposed, developed with liquid or dry toner for the image, the toner image is fixed by heating and the printing plate is stripped by removing the unprotected background areas of the photoconductor layer.
- the offset printing form obtained takes on ink at the toner image areas and water at the exposed areas of the carrier surface.
- the toner which normally contains a resin which is soluble in organic solvents, swells when it comes into contact with the printing ink for a longer period of time, thereby becoming sticky and can hold dirt particles in place or can form an uneven, wrinkled surface.
- the invention has for its object to propose a method for producing printing forms of the type specified above, in which the disadvantages described are avoided.
- the invention is based on a process for producing a planographic printing plate by electrophotography, in which an oleophilic photoconductor layer, which contains an photoconductor and a binder and is located on an electrically conductive hydrophilic substrate, is uniformly charged, imagewise exposed, emphasized and fixed, and the image-free areas the photoconductor layer can be removed with a stripping agent.
- the process according to the invention is characterized in that after stripping, the exposed areas of the support are coated with the solution of a water-soluble film-forming polymer which is insoluble in hydrocarbon solvents and with a vinylphosphonic acid compound, the solution is dried to a uniform coating, and the toner image is then washed out with a hydrocarbon mixture. which contains at least about 20 percent by weight of aromatic constituents, and then optionally exposes the background areas of the support again by washing with water.
- a hydrocarbon mixture which contains at least about 20 percent by weight of aromatic constituents
- Another advantage of the method according to the invention is an improved tonal value reproduction, in particular in the case of raster images, since the image elements which are somewhat widened by the melted toner are returned to their original size by detaching the toner.
- hydrocarbon mixtures in which the molten toner image is soluble are commercially available technical G e-mix suitable that at least 20 preferably 70 - contain 100%, aromatic moieties.
- higher-boiling benzene homologues ie Zole alkyl-substituted ene-B, having about 8 to 15, in particular 9 to 13 carbon atoms can be used.
- the proportion of harmful components such as trimethylbenzene and propylbenzene should be kept as low as possible and the flash point of the mixture should be above 40 ° C.
- Other higher-boiling hydrocarbons, in particular naphthenes can be used as non-aromatic constituents.
- the density of the hydrocarbon mixture can be between 0.85 and 0.95 g / ccm at 12 ° C, measured according to DIN 51 757, the boiling range between about 150 and 280 ° C.
- the Kauributanol value according to ASTM D-1133 is generally between 70 and 100.
- the hydrophilic carrier surface is protected against contamination by the organic toner solution.
- all such substances which are usually used as constituents of preservation solutions for planographic printing plates are suitable as water-soluble film-forming polymers.
- suitable substances are gum arabic, dextrin and polyvinyl alcohol.
- the concentration of the polymer is generally between 4 and 30, preferably between 5 and 15%.
- Suitable vinylphosphonic acid are olyvinylphosphonklare for example, vinylphosphonic acid, and P Vinylphosphonklamonomethylester. Other suitable compounds are described in DE-PS 11 34 093. Polyvinylphosphonic acid is preferred.
- the vinylphosphonic acid compound can be used in a concentration of 0.05 to 10, preferably 0.2 to 4% by weight. After treatment with the hydrocarbon solvent, the plate surface is normally rinsed with water, the water-soluble protective coating being removed together with any toner residues still adhering, and the printing form being given a clean appearance. If this should not be printed immediately, it is then coated with a conventional preservation solution and dried.
- the printing form freed from the toner according to the invention is to be stored only for a short time, to leave the protective layer of water-soluble polymers and vinylphosphonic acid compound on the background spots and to wash them off with water only at the beginning of the printing process.
- Organic photoconductors are preferably used as photoconductors, for example those as described in DE- P S 11 20875 or DE-AS 25 26 720.
- Suitable binders in the photoconductor layer are preferably those which are insoluble in water and soluble in aqueous alkaline solutions. Copolymers containing carboxyl groups are particularly preferred. The production of suitable electrophotographic materials and their processing into printing forms is described in the publications mentioned above.
- the plate was charged with a corona to about -450 V and exposed imagewise in a repro camera with 8 autophot lamps of 500 W each for 25 seconds.

Abstract
Description

- 10 Gt Tapiokadextrin
- 1 Gt Glycerin
- 0,3 Gt Phosphorsäure (85 %ig)

- 2 Gt Polyvinylphosphonsäure in
- 84,2 Gt Wasser
