- the inductance on the secondary side forms an oscillating circuit together with the piezo converter acting as a capacitance.
- a pulse-wise control on the primary side now has the effect that a voltage surge is induced with the rising edge of the control pulse on the secondary side, which is polarized such that the piezo element expands.
- a voltage in the opposite direction induced which triggers a contraction of the piezo element.
- Suitable switching means dampens the vibration on the secondary side so that it subsides after a short time. It is an advantage of this circuit that the voltage swing available for changing the diameter of the piezo element can be chosen to be very large. However, voltages occur, even if only briefly, the polarity of which is opposite to the direction of polarization of the ceramic material used as the piezo transducer. This can lead to depolarization of the piezo material over time, especially at high voltages.
- the transistor T11 becomes conductive, so that there is a low-resistance discharge circuit for the drive element P1 via this and the resistor R21.
- the controllable switching device ST is simultaneously supplied with a pulse at its control input EO, which leads to the transistor T2 being blocked and thereby interrupting the charging circuit.
- the voltage UB is no longer available on all drive elements for a short period of time, but this has no effect, since their discharge circuits are only switched on when a control pulse occurs at their control inputs.
