Traditional methods of displaying plants in pots or trays are not suited to supermarket operations. On the other hand when a plant is simply placed in a plastics bag, the mouth of which is drawn together, it is constricted and certainly not displayed to any advantage.

In any event, the enhancement in the appearance of the display produced by the stretched netting is very marked.

  • Planting and cultivation instructions may be printed on the polyethylene bag 11 as indicated at 18, and these will be clearly visible through the tube 12. Since the sock 14 is made of fine thread, it presents no appreciable impediment to reading the instructions. Also, a label 25 may be inserted between the outside of the transparent tube 12 and the sock 14. The sock therefore provides a convenient method of retaining the label in position on the tube.
  • the label 18 may bear an illustration of the plant when in flower or fruit and it may also bear additional descriptive and/or advertising matter.
  • a series of displays such as that illustrated in the drawing can be placed in a shallow tray containing water, on the shelf of a supermarket or the like. Because the compost block 13 will be in contact with the water through the perforated bottom wall of the bag 11, and the lower portion 16 of the sock does not prevent this, the plant is able to recieve a moisture supply, so long as it is on display. Also, whilst the top end of the tube is effectively closed, so that it is not possible for anyone to interfere with the plant, there is adequate ventilation through the perforated top 22 of the display. Hence, the plant is able to continue to grow naturally whilst in the display device, and because it is not constricted to any substantial extent by the display device, it is shown to the best possible advantage to potential customers. Moreover, if someone decides to purchase the plant, it is a simple matter to lift the entire display by means of the hand grip 24, and the display device protects the shrub 10 during transportation.

Claims (9)

1. Botanische Ausstellungsvorrichtung für eine wachsende Pflanze, insbesondere für den ganzjährigen Verkauf der Pflanze, worin die Wurzeln einer Pflanze (10) sich in Kompost (13) befinden und der Kompost und die Pflanze in einem selbsttragenden Rohr (12) aus durchsichtigem Material angeordnet sind, wobei das Rohr (12) am oberen und am unteren Ende Öffnungen aufweist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Kompost (13) in Form eines Blocks vorliegt und die Innenseite des Rohres (12) eine Grenze für den Block bildet, so daß die im Inneren des Rohres kondensierte Feuchtigkeit an der Innenseite des Rohres nach unten und in den Kompostblock abläuft, wodurch eine sich selbst bewässernde Umgebung geschaffen wird; daß ein Netzstrumpf außen über das Rohr gestreckt und am oberen Ende des Rohres (12) zusammengezogen ist, um eine perforierte Bodenabstützung für den Kompost zu erzeugen, durch die Feuchtigkeit nach oben gefördert werden kann, und um weiterhin einen perforierten oberen Abschluß für die Ausstellungsvorrichtung zu erzeugen.
2. Botanische Ausstellungsvorrichtung nach Anspruch 1, worin der Kompostblock (13) in einem oben offenen Kunststoffbeutel (11) enthälten ist, wobei die Seitenwände des Beutels zwischen der Innenseite des Rohres und dem Kompost eingefügt sind und der Boden des Beutels perforiert ist.
3. Botanische Ausstellungsvorrichtung nach Anspruch 2, worin der Kunststoffbeutel (11) gleitend in das Rohr (12) eingepaßt, ist.
4. Botanische Ausstellungsvorrichtung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, worin das Rohr (12) aus einer ebenen Folie gebildet ist, die um den Kompostblock (13) und die Pflanze (10) gelegt ist, wobei die vertikalen Ränder der Folie aneinander befestigt sind, um das Rohr zu bilden.
5. Botanische Ausstellungsvorrichtung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, worin das Rohr einen kreisförmigen Querschnitt hat.
6. Botanische Ausstellungsvorrichtung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, worin ein Etikett (25) auf der Außenfläche des Rohres (12) angebracht und durch den Maschenstrumpf (14) geschützt ist.
7. Botanische Ausstellungsvorrichtung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, worin der Strumpf aus einem Netzgewebe gebildet ist.
8. Botanische Ausstellungsvorrichtung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, worin der Kompostblock (13) über das untere Ende des durchsichtigen Rohres (12) vorsteht.
9. Botanische Ausstellungsvorrichtung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, worin ein Teil des Strumpfes (12) der am oberen Ende des Rohres zusammengezogen ist, gebündelt ist, um einen Handgriff zum Tragen der Ausstellungsvorrichtung zu erzeugen.
