- the present invention relates to an apparatus for carrying out manually using, for example with a hammer or a mallet, the insertion of pegs or the like in hard materials such as walls, of the type comprising a push rod on which the user strikes with a hammer or a mallet and which, sliding inside the body of the device, pushes the pin into the material, said body being constituted by a fixed part whose end leans against the material where it is desired to push the pin, and by a movable part capable of sliding relative to the fixed part, a return spring being disposed inside the body of the device to spread the part mobile of the fixed part, the mobile part being able to move in the direction of the material in which the ankle is pushed in by compressing the return spring as the ankle sinks under the action of impacts struck by the user on the rod-poussoi r.
- Apparatuses of this type are already known which allow the insertion of ankles by means of repeated blows given with the aid of a hammer. These devices are not easy to use because on the one hand they do not ensure good guiding of the ankle during its insertion and on the other hand the part on which one strikes with the hammer to drive the ankle tends to rebound under the action of the shocks communicated to it.
- the present invention relates to an apparatus of the aforementioned type which is of a simple and inexpensive embodiment and which makes it possible with great ease to manually drive in dowels or the like in various materials such as walls.
- the present invention relates to an apparatus for driving dowels or the like in materials such as walls of the aforementioned type, characterized in that the push rod is capable of moving axially over a certain fraction of its length relative to the movable part of the body of the device, so that the shock caused by the hammer blow on the push rod does not affect the moving part.
- the push rod has a section of smaller diameter over the part of its length which corresponds to the clearance which it is desired to give it relative to the movable part of the body of the device and at least three lugs which engage radially in the movable part of the body of the device and are applied elastically against the part of smaller diameter of the push rod.
- the fixed part of the body of the device comprises a stop in rubber or similar material against which comes to bear a shoulder formed on the push rod so as to limit the sinking of the dowel in the material.
- the fixed part of the body of the device comprises a removable tip which allows by a set of tips of different shapes to easily adapt the device to different types of washers or fasteners which must be fixed using the dowels.
- the removable endpiece is held in the fixed part of the body of the device by a longitudinal groove disposed on the periphery of the endpiece, bleeding which ends in a circular part of larger diameter in which is placed a locking member which, in one position is opposed to the release of the nozzle and in another position allows.
- this locking member is held by a circular clip in the position which opposes the removal of the endpiece.
