Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a decorative covering panel and a panel obtained by this method.
Various methods of manufacturing decorative panels are already known, comprising a basic plastic support on which decorative patterns are traced. In one of these processes which is the subject of French patent application No. 79.16612, filed on June 27, 1979 by the applicant, a metallic powder diluted with a spray gun is applied to a colored background. using an appropriate diluent and the diluted metal powder is blured so as to displace and shade the powder as desired for the formation of the desired decorative patterns on the colored background, after which the pattern formed by the metal powder is dried. If such a process makes it possible to obtain panels having a remarkable aesthetic effect, it is however not without drawbacks. Indeed, it uses a metal powder diluted in a solvent which evaporates fairly quickly and, therefore, we are dependent, during the formation of decorative patterns, this evaporation time. In other words, it is necessary to very quickly carry out the patterns which must appear in the panel obtained immediately. In addition, the solvents thus used are flammable and they can therefore present certain risks during their use.
Finally, despite the final application of a layer of varnish, the panels obtained can be scratched.
The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks by very simple means.
To this end, this method of manufacturing a decorative covering panel comprising a base support constituted by a plate or sheet of rigid or flexible plastic material, in which a colored background is first applied to this plate or sheet of plastic material, then the decorative patterns are formed on this colored background and these patterns are then dried, is characterized in that at least one UV ink is applied to the colored background, by screen printing. say drying under the action of ultraviolet radiation, the UV ink is then dimmed so as to move and shade the ink as desired for the formation of the desired decorative pattern, the UV inks are dried and fixed in subjecting the panel to ultraviolet radiation and finally applying a varnish UV transparent and dried by subjecting it to ultraviolet radiation.
The method according to the invention offers the advantage that the UV inks used, of different colors, remain fluid for as long as desired, as long as they are not subjected to ultraviolet radiation. As a result, it is possible to compose the decorative patterns at will, with sufficient time. In addition, since UV inks do not contain a volatile solvent, there is no risk of intoxication by inhalation of harmful vapors, neither during printing nor during drying.
As a base support, a plastic plate such as polyvinyl chloride (rigid or flexible), polyvinyl fluoride, ABS, etc., is used, having a thickness ranging from 0.4 to 3 mm. A UV base ink is applied to this support, which is dried by subjecting it to ultraviolet radiation. This drying takes place in an ultraviolet drying tunnel comprising lamps emitting ultraviolet radiation.
To enhance the aesthetic effect of the decorative patterns formed, a metal powder, for example gold powder or any other shade, is advantageously incorporated into the UV inks.
The blurring of UV inks of different colors is advantageously carried out with compressed air, by means of a blower, making it possible to move and shade these inks according to the desired effect. The whole is then blended with a pad, using dry cellulose wadding.
When UV inks of different colors are used in combination, a UV ink of a first color, in which a metallic powder is incorporated, is applied by screen printing, then this ink is blured to form the desired patterns with this color, and the ink is then dried by subjecting it to ultraviolet radiation. Then these same operations are carried out with an ink of a second color which is then dried, and so on.
The UV inks used for the manufacture of decorative panels according to the invention are advantageously of the reference type 4CMUV manufactured by the DUBUIT company.
Once the decorative patterns formed by the inks have dried in different colors, a UV overprint varnish such as varnish A 602 manufactured by the DUBUIT company is applied. This varnish is dried in a tunnel with ultraviolet radiation. This drying can be carried out with or without surface glazing.
If one wishes to obtain a glaze, the varnish is dried in depth hot under press between two sheets with mirror polish. A press with heating and cooling plates manufactured by the company DOLOUETS can be used for this purpose. The thickness of the transparent UV varnish is of the order of 50 to 180 microns. It is heated to a temperature of 140 to 165 ° C, under a pressure of 25 bars, for a period of time of 15 to 30 minutes.
We finally obtain a decorative panel with a very beautiful aesthetic effect and whose surface is very difficult to scratch.
