Description

The present invention relates to a device for fixing a reservoir to a support structure of the type comprising, on a first side of the reservoir, at least one first flat lug which is provided with a hole intended for the passage of a threaded member in view of its immobilization by bolting on the structure. It applies more particularly to the fixing of a synthetic fuel tank to the structure of a motor vehicle.

The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks by proposing a particularly simple fixing device, therefore easy to implement and at a low cost price which is applicable to the fixing of fuel tanks made of synthetic material.

To this end, the fixing device according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises, on the opposite side of the reservoir, at least one second curved lug which turns its convat in the opposite direction to the structure and which is received in a conjugate arcuate slot belonging to a clip mounted on this structure.

  • la Fig. 1 est une vue partielle en plan d'un réservoir fixé selon l'invention;
  • la Fig. 2 est une vue en coupe selon la ligne 2-2 de la Fig. 1;
An exemplary embodiment is the subject of the following description, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
  • Fig. 1 is a partial plan view of a tank fixed according to the invention;
  • Fig. 2 is a sectional view along line 2-2 of FIG. 1;
  • Figs. 3 and 4 represent on a larger scale details of FIG. 2.

The drawings show a fuel tank 1 made of synthetic material, for example high density polyethylene. On one of the sides of the tank, for example the side 2 directed towards the front while considering the vehicle, are formed ears 3 constituted by sails of curved shape, with concavity turned downwards. On opposite side 4 of the tank are provided 5 flat ears.

Each curved ear 3 is intended to engage in a slot 6 of arcuate shape conjugated with a clip 7 of plastic material of general shape in S. The clip thus comprises below the slot 6 a slot 8 allowing its clipping on a support 9 forming part of the metal structure 10 of the vehicle. The lower end of the S is extended downwards by a flange 11 applied against the part of the structure 10 adjacent to the support 9, the angle thus formed being reinforced by one or more vertical ribs 12.

The clip 7, shown on a larger scale in FIG. 3, can be made for example of polyamide. As shown, it preferably comprises, in the slot 8, a stud 13 intended to engage in a conjugate hole 14 of the support 9 This ensures the correct positioning of the clip 7 while ensuring its immobilization.

Each flat ear 5 has an oblong hole 15, elongated parallel to the side 4 of the reservoir, which is intended to be crossed with clearance by a vertical screw 16 projecting downwards from the structure 10. In the example shown, the screw 16 is made integral with the structure 10 by welding its head 17 to the latter, and the reservoir is fixed, for each ear 5, by a nut 18.

Preferably, this spacer, shown on a larger scale in FIG. 4, is integral with a stirrup 20 which clips onto the ear 5 with engagement of a stud 21 in the oblong hole 15 of the ear. The spacer-caliper assembly can be made, for example, of polyamide. The stud 21 is pierced with a circular central hole 22 whose diameter roughly corresponds to that of the screw 16.

The mounting of the tank in the downwardly open housing which is defined by the structure 10 between the support 9 and the screw 16 is done in a particularly simple way:
  • First, by clipping in place, the clips 7 on the supports 9, on the other hand the spacers 19 on the flat ears 5. The tank is then presented in the downward inclined position indicated in phantom. in Fig. 2, and the curved ears 3 are made to slide to the bottom of the slots 6 of the staples while gradually straightening the reservoir. When the tank has almost reached its horizontal service position, the spacers 19 are threaded onto the screws 16 until they come up against the structure 10, the screws 16 then protruding beneath the beings 20. It then suffices to put in place and then to tighten the nuts 18 to ensure the perfect retention of the tank on the vehicle structure. Dismantling the tank is also easy, reversing the order of the above operations.

The arrangement thus described is particularly simple and inexpensive. In addition, the reservoir 1 is perfectly maintained without any contact with the metal parts of the structure 10. This avoids any risk of deterioration by plastic-metal friction of the plastic which constitutes it, and thermal insulation is ensured between the structure and the tank, delaying the heating of the latter in the event of a vehicle failure.
