  • the roller 5 may be of an ordinary type with a pawl mechanism adapted to retain the roller against unintentional rolling up the blind 4, but another possibility is that the roller is permanently urged in its winding direction and that the friction between the ends of the lower bar 14 and the walls of the guide slot 13 is sufficient to hold the blind 4 in any desired position against the winding load.
