Definitions
- the invention relates to a kit for the production of light pipe, systems or space trusses in the form of pipes connected by connectors, with connectors, each having at least one tube extension, and with tubes which are divided along axially parallel jacket lines into two interlocking tube shells and at the ends each have a connected to one of the pipe shells, horseshoe-shaped, in the radial direction on the tube extension of the connector pushable end flange and an arcuate closure flange which can be locked with the end flange to a closed ring surrounding the tube extension.
- Such a kit is known from the applicant's European patent 0 018 005.
- the end flange, together with the closure flange, serves for rotatably fastening the pipe to the pipe extension of the adjacent connecting piece.
- the horseshoe-shaped design of the end flange has the advantage that, for example, when replacing a pipe in a fully installed space frame, the pipe shell connected to the end flanges of the new pipe to be inserted is inserted in a purely radial movement into the gap in the space frame and connected to the pipe extensions with the aid of the closure flanges can without changing the position of the already installed neighboring pipes.
- the closure flange is completely detachable from the end flange and can be latched by means of leaf springs projecting tangentially from the outer periphery of the closure flange at both ends on inner projections of the tubular shell connected to the end flange.
- a disadvantage of this conventional kit is that the closure flanges can easily be lost and must be held in a suitable position by hand before locking onto the pipe end. Often the axial position of the closure flanges has to be corrected again after the locking.
- the invention has for its object to simplify the locking of the closure flanges in the intended position and to ensure that the closure flanges can not be lost.
- closure flange is hinged to the end flange with a curved end.
- the closure flange is thus permanently connected to the end flange.
- the fitter has both hands free in order to bring the pipe into a suitable position with respect to the adjacent connecting pieces and to push it radially onto the pipe lugs when the closure flanges are open.
- the hinge-shaped connection to the closure flanges ensures that the closure flange is correctly seated.
- a tube 10 is indicated by dashed lines, which comprises an upper tube shell 12 and a lower tube shell 14 locked with this.
- a horseshoe-shaped end flange 16 shown in detail in Figures 3 to 6 is attached.
- the end flange 16 is screwed to inner shoulder strips 18 of the upper pipe shell 12.
- the legs of the end flange 16 each end at the interface between the top. ren pipe shell 12 and the lower pipe shell 14th
- a curved closure flange 20 shown in detail in FIGS. 7 to 8 supplements the closure flange 16 to form a closed ring.
- the end flange 16 and the closure flange 20 each have, on their inner peripheral edge, a web 22 or 24 projecting axially into the interior of the tube 10.
- a connector 26 is shown as an example, which serves to connect two pipes 10 at right angles.
- the connector 26, shown on a reduced scale, has annular contact surfaces 28 for the end and closure flanges of the adjacent pipes. From each contact surface 28 projects a coaxial pipe extension 30, the in the assembled position is surrounded by cuffs by the webs 22, 24 of the end flange 16 and the closure flange 20.
- the tubular extension 30 has a radially outwardly projecting collar 32, by means of which the webs 22, 24 are fixed in the axial direction.
- an axially projecting stop 34 is provided in a predetermined position on the circumference of the tube extension 30, the meaning of which is explained below.
- the end flange 16 has on the left in Figures 1 and 3 adjacent to its inner edge a pivot 36 which forms a hinge axis for the closure flange 20.
- An extension of the web 24 of the closure flange which projects in the circumferential direction has an eye 38 mounted on the pivot 36 at the free end.
- the edges of the end flange 16 and the closure flange 20 are each convex or concave on the hinge-side end of the flange and describe circular arcs around the hinge axis.
- the closure flange 20 can be pivoted so far outward about the pivot 36 that during the assembly of the tube 10 the tube extension 30 can enter from below between the legs of the end flange 16.
- a lug 40 is formed on the web 24 and engages with a hook-shaped angled end of a leaf spring 42.
- the leaf spring 42 is fixed at its upper end to a pin 44 of the end flange 16 and is supported by a further pin 46 in such a way that it bears against a straight section of the web 22 of the end flange 16.
- the leaf spring 42 is fixed on the one hand by the end flange 16 and on the other hand by a radial projection 48 at the axially inner end of the web 22, but an axial fixing is not absolutely necessary.
- closure flange 20 If the closure flange 20 is to be opened so that the end flange can be detached from the tubular extension 30, the lower tubular shell 14 is first removed and the leaf spring 42 is pressed by pressing a tab 50 on the hook-shaped angled lower end of the leaf spring which is easily accessible to the user bent outward so that it releases the nose 40. The closure flange 20 then opens due to its own weight. In this way, the connection of the closure and closure flanges 16, 20 to the tube extension 30 can be released in a very simple manner with a single handle.
- the nose 40 When the closure flange 20 is pivoted back into the closed position, the nose 40 describes an arc around the pivot 36.
- the tab 50 of the leaf spring 42 is advantageously set such that it forms an acute angle with the path of movement of the nose 40. In this case, the leaf spring 42 is bent outwards when the nose 40 slides onto the tab 50, so that the leaf spring 42 is not actuated to lock the closure flange 20, but only the free end of the closure flange 20 needs to be pressed upward.
- the closure flange 20 has a base 52 which projects inwards in the axial direction beyond the web 24.
- a limiting pin 58 is fixed with the aid of a screw 56 or in some other way and protrudes radially inward beyond the web 24.
- the limiting pin 58 cooperates with the stop 34 on the tube extension 30 and limits the angular range in which the tube 10 can be rotated with respect to the end piece 26. This limitation of the rotational movement ensures that lines running through the connecting piece 26 and the pipe 10 cannot be twisted too much.
- the end flange 16 has a recess 60 on its upper apex, which is aligned with an undercut groove 62 of the tube 10 which serves to fasten hangers or the like. Furthermore, the end flange 16 is provided with guide pins 64 which engage with angle profiles 66 of the upper pipe shell 12 and facilitate the positioning of the end flange before screwing onto the upper pipe shell 12. Screw holes 68 are provided for screwing the end flange 16 onto the attachment strips 18.
