Definitions

  • the invention relates to a mat for a floor covering, in particular for a water-permeable floor covering and preferably for a water-permeable artificial turf, consisting of a reinforcement core embedded in foam plastic, so that a grid-like structure is formed from resiliently flexible foam plastic panels and openings in between.
  • the invention further relates to a method for producing such underlays.
  • a known mat of this type (DE-A-3 113 637) for water-permeable artificial turf has a textile core made of so-called Rascheiware, which has a checkerboard-like pattern of approximately square, thread-formed, at least almost closed fields and also approximately square openings arranged between them forms.
  • This core is embedded in foam plastic, the latter of which forms pillow-shaped cushions on the underside of the underlay mat, between which the openings are arranged, while the textile core on the mat top side is barely covered with foam plastic.
  • this known underlay mat has great advantages, since due to the curvature of the cushion-shaped pads formed on the underside of the mat, water that has penetrated through the floor covering and the underlay mat can also run off well, namely to the side when the floor covering and underlay mat are laid on a flat, water-impermeable surface the step-elastic properties of the known underlay mats still leave something to be desired, especially if they form a playing field used by athletes together with an artificial turf.
  • the desired soft interception of a foot that occurs requires a greater height of the elastic material with a floor covering having holes than with a floor covering without holes, dr. ..n the former the elastic materiai, irn. In this case, the foam plastic into which openings can escape.
  • the invention had for its object to provide a mat of the type mentioned, which is superior in terms of its resilient properties to the known mat described above.
  • This object can be achieved according to the invention in that a underlay mat of the type mentioned at the outset is designed in such a way that it has, on its underside, at the edge of at least part of the openings made of foam plastic and does not completely enclose the bead-like projections.
  • Embodiments are preferred in which all openings are assigned essentially the same, namely projections which are C-shaped in the view from below and are also arranged identically at all openings.
  • the foam plastic also forms cushion-shaped pads on the top of the mat, between which the openings are arranged.
  • the bead-like projections improve the tread elastic properties; If they do not completely enclose the openings, they also do not hinder the outflow of water emerging from the openings of the underlay mat downwards, so that the underlay mat can also be laid on a water-impermeable, flat surface.
  • the bead-like projections on the underside of the underlay mat according to the invention also have the effect that the forces exerted by a jumping player or the like are partially reduced by flexing work, so that the tread-elastic properties are not determined solely by the volume elasticity of the foam plastic, as is the case with the one described above known mat is the case.
  • the bead-like projections on the underside of the underlay mat according to the invention result in a storage space with a relatively high volume between this and a base, so that, for. B. an outdoor, water-permeable artificial turf is not flooded so quickly even in heavy rain.
  • the resilient properties of a floor covering are also improved because the actual floor covering now rests on the cushion-shaped cushions located on the top of the underlay mat according to the invention and not on the thin foam plastic layer that is in the known underlay mat on the top of the textile mat core.
  • a particularly simple method for producing an underlay mat according to the invention is characterized in that, in the continuous process, a foamable, flowable plastic is first applied to the top side of a web of openings and then the thickness of the plastic coating is adjusted, whereupon plastic emerging from the openings downward by means of at least a tool arranged below the web to the in the direction of passage, the rear opening edges are at least partially pushed up and removed at the opening edges in the direction of the passage, and that the plastic is foamed and the shape is stabilized after the plastic, which has been pushed up, has emerged again downward from the openings.
  • the underlay mat according to the invention is suitable for all floor coverings which are to have special resilient properties, whether it is textile floor coverings or plate-shaped or sheet-shaped plastic floor coverings.
  • the particular advantages of the underlay mat according to the invention are most evident when it is used for water-permeable artificial turf with which sports or playing fields are laid out.
  • the preferred embodiment of the underlay mat according to the invention shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 contains a textile core 10 (see FIG. 2) in the form of a web-shaped paschal fabric, which will be described in more detail with reference to FIGS. 4 and 5.
  • This textile core is embedded in foam plastic 12, which forms a grid of pillow-shaped cushions 14 on the top of the underlay mat, between which there are drainage openings 16.
  • the arched shape of the pads 14 has the advantage that water accumulating on the top of the underlay mat is drained completely in the direction of the drainage openings 16.
  • the foam plastic forms approximately C-shaped bead-like projections 18 in plan view, which according to the invention comprise the drainage openings 16 on three sides and, according to FIG. 3, have their greatest height on the left of the associated drainage opening.
  • the height of the projections 18 at their highest point is greater than the width of the drainage openings, which results in particularly good step-elastic properties of the underlay.
  • the foam plastic on the underside of the textile core 10 only covers it with a very thin layer.
  • FIG. 4 already shows part of a system for producing the underlay mat according to the invention, namely a section of an endless, circulating conveyor belt 24 which is equipped with nails 26.
  • the textile core 10 forming a material web is held at its longitudinal edges and moved in the longitudinal direction of the conveyor belts in order to carry out the method according to the invention.
  • the textile core 10 preferably consists of a Raschel fabric with wales 28 running in the longitudinal direction, between which openings 30 and closed fields 32 are arranged, which according to the invention form a checkerboard-like pattern.
  • the closed fields 32 are formed by threads, yarns or ribbons 34 which are integrated into the wales 28, the edge threads 34a delimiting the fields 32 with respect to the openings 30 being thicker than the other threads of the fields 32, which results in a certain amount Trough shape of the fields 32 results.
  • Such a trough was designated 38 in FIG.
  • FIG. 6 shows only the one of two transport rollers 50 over which the two conveyor belts 24 run.
  • the material web formed by the textile core 10 is placed on top of the two conveyor belts 24 and fixed with the help of their nails 26.
  • the conveyor belts 24 are driven in the direction of the arrow B shown in FIG. 6.
  • a foamable, flowable plastic 56 is applied to the top of the textile core 10 by means of a nozzle 54, the thickness of the plastic covering remaining on the closed fields 32 of the textile core 10 being adjusted using a doctor blade 58.
  • a squeegee 60 serves to push back (at least partially) the plastic 56 emerging from the openings 30 downward at the rear edge of each opening in the direction of travel as a result of the bevel 60a of the squeegee through the opening, while at the same time at the front edge of each opening, the plastic which has passed downward therefrom is separated by the doctor blade 60, as is illustrated by the doctor blade 60 indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 6 (the doctor blade is of course always in the same place, namely that where it was shown with solid lines).
  • the thickness of the plastic layer on the underside of the textile core 10 is adjusted with the doctor blade 60.
  • the stripped plastic enters a trough 64 and can be reused.
  • a plurality of doctor blades 60 can also be provided one behind the other for the underside of the textile core 10.
  • the plastic that was last displaced upward emerges from the opening at the rear edge of each opening 30 through the opening and forms a bead 66.
  • the web of material then passes through an oven 70, in which the plastic 56 is foamed and stabilized.
  • the cushions 14 and the bead-shaped projections 18 develop, which, as can be seen in FIG. 3, have the shape of a highly divided collar.
  • the material web is removed from the conveyor belts 24, for example by providing a lifting roller behind the last transport roller 50, over which the material web runs.
