Definitions

  • the invention relates to a locking device for two side-by-side pedal arms having pivoting pedals, in particular brake pedals, which can be determined by locking parts engaging in rows of teeth, the locking parts biased by springs in the direction of the rows of teeth, mounted on a rotatable shaft and the shaft in their Pedals releasing positions are pivotable.
  • a known locking device (John Deere operating instructions for 6000 HI-Cycle OM-N 159 558, edition JO 1980) is used to lock the brakes of a parked work vehicle.
  • the brake When the brake is not applied, the only locking part rests on the cabin floor.
  • the locking part When the brake is applied, the locking part can be pivoted by hand around the shaft attached to the cabin floor so that its free end engages in the rows of teeth on the pedal arms. To release the locking device, the brake pedals must be depressed again by a further amount. Both brakes are set together.
  • a locking device (DE-A-2 352 224), from which the invention is based, has become known, in which rods having rows of teeth on the pedal arms are articulated and in which pawls can engage under the action of springs in the rows of teeth.
  • the pawls are pivotally mounted on a shaft and can be pivoted away from the teeth of the rows of teeth by rotating the shaft via a pull rod, for which purpose radial pins are arranged on the shaft, which can be brought to bear against stops on the pawls.
  • the range of rotation of the shaft must be so large that the radial pins can be swiveled out of the range of action of the pawls so that they can engage in the rows of teeth due to the spring action for locking the pedals. If the springs become tired or break, the pawls can only fall into the rows of teeth due to their own weight, so that a reliable locking position serving as a parking brake is no longer present. In addition, the locking position can be released by simply lifting the pawls, so that operational safety is not ensured if access to the pawls is possible from the outside.
  • the object to be achieved with the invention is seen in designing the locking device in such a way that, even with different pedal travel, each pedal can be locked with the brake fully applied and operational safety is maintained.
  • each brake pedal can be locked when the associated brake is fully applied, so that the risk of accidents due to different wear of the individual brake systems is avoided.
  • the pawls can pivot into their locking position via the shaft.
  • each locking part can be provided at the end with a sleeve which is rotatably arranged on the shaft, arms being fixedly arranged on the shaft, with the other ends of the locking parts being connected so as to be movable to a limited extent.
  • the springs are expediently provided between the other ends of the arms and the locking parts.
  • a screw can advantageously be screwed into each locking part, the other end of which extends through an opening in the arms and is secured against falling out, the springs being arranged on the screw shafts between the arms and the locking parts.
  • the shaft can be locked in a rotational position in which the locking parts can snap into the pedal arms, with spacers being provided on each shaft of the screws between locking parts and arms.
  • the relative swivel range between locking parts and arms can thus be positively limited.
  • a handle can be connected to the shaft, which can be locked in an end position of the shaft.
  • the locking device can be actuated easily and also secured against unauthorized actuation in the loosening sense.
  • the drawing shows a pedal arrangement 10 for two brake pedals arranged next to one another, as is used for pedal control of a tracked vehicle that can be used in the construction industry.
  • these brake pedals can be locked together in their depressed position via a locking device 12.
  • the pedal assembly 10 consists of a transverse shaft 14 which is mounted in supports, not shown, which are fixedly connected to a frame 20 of the vehicle, a right pedal 22 being provided with a pedal arm 24 which has a cylinder part 26 at its end, which in turn is rotatably mounted on the cross shaft 14.
  • the end of the pedal arm 24 remote from the cylinder part 26 is connected to a tread surface 28 which has a tongue 30 directed to the left.
  • return spring 32 is provided between the frame 20 and an eyelet 34 which extends from the cylinder part 26 upwards.
  • the pedal arm 24 has a row of teeth 36 near the pedal surface 28, into which the locking device 12 can engage, as will be explained in more detail below.
  • a linkage connects the pedal 22 to a right-hand brake mechanism.
  • a left pedal 38 is equipped with a pedal arm 40, one end of which merges into a cylinder part 42 which is fixedly arranged on the cross shaft 14 via a holder 44.
  • the other end of the pedal arm 40 receives a pedal surface 46, into which a cutout 48 is incorporated in its right area. In the cutout 48, the tongue 30 is received when the treads 28 and 46 are next to each other, as shown in the drawing.
  • a return spring not shown, is provided between the frame and an eyelet 52 which is fixed to the cross shaft 14.
  • This pedal arm 40 also has a row of teeth 54 near the tread surface 46, into which the locking device 12 can engage when the pedal has been depressed to actuate the brake.
  • the pedals 22 and 38 can be actuated together but also independently of one another, as a result of which the associated right and left brake mechanisms or brakes grip together or individually.
  • the locking device 12 has, inter alia, an actuating device with a handle 56 which can be welded to one end of a shaft 58.
  • the shaft 58 itself is rotatably mounted in supports 60 and 62, which are fixedly connected to one another by the frame 20, in a region which lies above and in relation to the direction of travel in front of the pedal arrangement 10.
  • Right and left locking parts 64 and 66 in the form of angled rods are pivotally supported on the shaft 58, for which purpose sleeves 68 and 70 are used, which are welded to the ends of the locking parts 64 and 66 and are rotatable on the shaft 58.
  • the arrangement and design of the locking parts 64 and 66 is such that their corresponding lower ends 72 and 74 can only engage in the rows of teeth 36 and 54 when the handle 56 is in its raised upper position, not shown in the drawing, and pedals 22 and 38 were depressed.
  • right and left L-shaped arms 76 and 78 are also provided, of which one leg is welded tangentially onto the shaft 58 at locations next to the sleeves 68 and 70 is.
  • the other legs of the arms 76 and 78 lie in relation to the direction of travel in front of the locking parts 64 and 66, but are connected to these.
  • screws 80 and 82 are used, which are screwed into the locking parts 64 and 66 and secured by lock nuts 84. Only the right lock nut 84 can be seen in the drawing.
  • the screws 80 and 82 are loosely guided through the other legs of the arms 76 and 78 and secured against falling out by nuts 88 and 90 which are screwed onto the screws 80 and 82.
  • springs 92 In the area between the locking parts 64 and 66 and the arms 76 and 78, springs 92, of which only the right one, which is shown as a spiral spring, are pushed onto the shafts of the screws 80 and 82. This results in a one-way flexible connection between the locking parts 64 and 66 and the arms 76 and 78.
  • a return spring 95 is also provided between the handle 56 and the frame 20, which the handle and thus the entire locking device 12 in the in Fig 1 reproduced position in which the pedals 22 and 38 are not locked.
  • the locking elements 64, 66 are pivoted into their locking position in which the correspondingly ramp-shaped ends 72 and 74 of the locking parts 64, 66 in the rows of teeth 36 and 54 of the pedal arms 24 and 40 can engage when the pedals 22 and 38 are depressed to actuate the brakes.
  • the pedals 22 and 38 can thus be fixed in these positions, specifically as soon as the locking parts 64 and 66 engage between two teeth of the rows of teeth 36 and 54. In the case of different pedal paths, i.e.
  • an opening 100 can be provided in the handle 56, which in the raised position of the handle is aligned with an eyebolt 102 connected to the frame 20.
  • Two spacers 104 cooperate with the padlock and have the effect that the amount by which the locking parts 64 and 66 can move relative to the arms 76 and 78 is limited, so that in the locked position, the locking parts 64, 66 cannot disengage from the rows of teeth 36, 54 without rotating the shaft 58.
  • the spacers 104 are provided in the springs 92 on the screws 80, 82.
  • the operation of the locking device should appear from the above description.
  • the locking device can be used wherever a function is performed by swiveling parts. It makes it possible for the locking parts to be able to be moved independently of one another due to their special arrangement on the shaft 58, so that the pedals can be locked independently or together and together again can be solved. A safeguard against unauthorized loosening is also available and useful if the vehicle is left unattended in the respective field of application.
