Definitions

  • the invention relates to a labeling device for dispensing and attaching self-adhesive labels, which brings a self-adhesive label into a dispensing position under a pressure roller, which is rotatably mounted on a rigid axis, in each operating cycle, the pressure roller having individually formed rings with a hard surface that has a their inner surface arranged spring element are mounted on the sleeve.
  • Such a labeling device is known from IBM TECHNICAL DISCLOSURE BULLETIN, Volume 18, No. 7, December 1975, pages 2256-2257, New York, US; D.L. PIERSON: "Label attachment machine” known.
  • the rings formed individually in this known labeling device have a hard surface and are connected in one piece to the spring elements described there, which are molded on the inside. Lateral deformation of the spring elements is not possible. The circumferential surface of the rings slides over the entire width of the label, and the spring elements cannot be replaced.
  • a labeling device is known from US Pat. No. 4,102,731, in which the pressure roller also has individually formed rings, but the surface of these rings is made of soft material. These rings shown there are mounted on finger-like spring elements arranged inside. The soft surface of the rings creates a high frictional force and smears the pressure of a labeling device if the pressure roller slides over the printed label immediately after the printing process.
  • a labeling device is known from European patent application 0087636, in which the surface of the pressure roller consists of a hard material, which is flexibly mounted in order to achieve its flexibility.
  • the pressure roller on a labeling device must on the one hand have the necessary elasticity to adapt to the surface of the object to be marked, on the other hand the surface should be designed so that the quality of the print on the label is not impaired when the pressure roller is unrolled.
  • the present invention is based on the object of providing an alternative for the known spring elements.
  • the spring elements are arranged annularly and in opposing grooves on the inner surface of the rings or the outer surface of the sleeve.
  • the rings continue to have a hard surface, but that the rings are softly supported by the spring elements arranged inside.
  • These spring elements can now be replaced, i. H. spring elements can be used which have a different spring force depending on the requirements. Furthermore, it would also be possible to renew spring elements whose spring force has decreased.
  • the described pressure roller can meet the respective requirements - adaptation to the label format; any number of rings - can be adjusted.
  • the spring elements usually consist of a rubber material.
  • the rings are preferably designed as profile rings and have a tip in cross section. This configuration of the rings creates a particularly small contact area between the pressure roller and the labels, so that the smearing of the label print can be largely avoided.
  • the sleeve is preferably in one piece.
  • the sleeve has individually designed sleeve elements, the length of the profile rings being less than the length of the sleeve elements.
  • the sleeve has individually designed sleeve elements, the length of the profile rings being less than the length of the sleeve elements.
  • the sleeve has individually designed sleeve elements, the length of the profile rings being equal to the length of the sleeve elements.
  • spacer rings are preferably additionally provided, the outer diameter of which is smaller than the outer diameter of the profile rings.
  • the length of two of these spacer rings is advantageously equal to the length of one profile ring.
  • the profile rings have different outside diameters.
  • the labeling device shown in FIG. 1 has a housing to which a handle 12 is attached. On the upper side of the housing there is a shaft 13 for receiving a supply roll 14 of a carrier tape 15 with self-adhesive labels 16 adhering to it.
  • the carrier tape 15 runs in the device from the shaft 13 first downwards and then after a deflection on a roller 17 forward to a dispensing edge 18 , on which the carrier tape 15 is deflected and is guided past a schematically illustrated transport device 19 to the rear end of the housing.
  • a pressure roller 1 is rotatably mounted in the housing 11 about an axis 20, with which a label 16 ′ detached from the carrier tape 15 on the dispensing edge 18 and in the dispensing position can be stuck onto an object by rolling off the pressure roller 1.
  • An operating lever 22 is attached below the handle 12 and is mounted rotatably about an axis 23. Between the handle 12 and the operating lever 22 there is a spring 24 which always tries to push the operating lever 22 into the rest position shown in FIG.
  • a printing unit lever 25 which is also rotatably mounted about the axis 23.
  • This printing unit lever 25 carries a printing unit 26, by means of which a self-adhesive label 16 located on a printing table 27 can be printed.
  • a spring 29 is attached between an arm 28 of the operating lever 22 and the printing unit lever 25 and serves to transmit a movement of the operating lever 22 directed against the handle 12 to the printing unit lever 25. In the rest position shown in Figure 1, the printing unit lever 25 is held in the raised position by a nose 30 on the operating lever 22.
  • the nose 30 pivoting the printing unit lever 25 back into its shown starting position clockwise about the axis 23.
  • the transport device 19 is also moved back into its starting position shown in FIG. 1; during this movement, however, it is firmly engaged with the carrier tape 15, so that it is pulled around the dispensing edge 18 by a distance corresponding to the length of a self-adhesive label.
  • a self-adhesive label detaches from the carrier tape 15 and reaches the position of the self-adhesive label 16 'below the pressure roller 1.
  • the self-adhesive label 16' can now be stuck onto an object by rolling the pressure roller 1.
  • FIGS. 2 to 5 show sections or partial views of pressure rollers 1, as can be used in the device shown in FIG. 1.
  • the pressure roller 1 has individually designed profile rings 2, which are mounted on the sleeve 5 via a spring element 4 arranged on their inner surface 3. These spring elements 4 are arranged in mutually opposite grooves 6 and 7 on the inner surface 3 of the profile rings 2 and the outer surface of the sleeve 5.
  • Figure 2 the sleeve 5 is integrally formed.
  • Figure 3 shows a pressure roller 1, in which the sleeve 5 has individually formed sleeve elements 8, the length a of which is greater than the length b of the profile rings 2.
  • FIG. 4 there are additional spacer rings 10 between the profile rings 2.
  • FIGS. 2 and 3 When comparing FIGS. 2 and 3 with the embodiment shown in FIG. 4, it can easily be seen that with lateral pressure on the profile rings 2. according to FIGS 3 an excessive tilting of these rings and tilting would be possible.
  • the length b of the profile rings 2 is equal to the length d of the sleeve elements 9
  • Spacer rings 10 are arranged, whose outer diameter is smaller than the outer diameter of the profile rings 2.
  • the length c of two spacer rings 10 is equal to the length b of a profile ring.
  • the length of the pressure roller 1 can be varied as desired by fitting profiled rings and spacer rings.
  • FIGS. 5 and 6 show two embodiments in which the profile rings 2 have different outside diameters.
  • the sheathing of the pressure roller is barrel-shaped. These pressure rollers are particularly suitable for marking cross-arched concave surfaces, such as yarn cones in the textile industry.
  • the pressure roller has a concave covering. These pressure rollers are particularly suitable if cross-convex, convex surfaces (bottles and cans) are to be provided with a label.
  • FIG. 7 shows the cross section through the pressure roller according to FIG. 2.
  • This spring element is usually ring-shaped.
  • the profile ring 2 On the spring element 4 is the profile ring 2, which has the groove 6 on the inner surface 3.
  • the pressure on the profile rings 2 can be compensated by the spring element 4.
  • the sleeve 5 rotates on the axis 31.
  • the longitudinal section of the profile rings 2 according to FIGS. 2 to 5 makes it clear that the profile rings have a tip in cross section, so that a minimal friction surface is formed on the surface of the label. This avoids smearing of the writing.
