  • the invention relates to means for locating a wheelchair, primarily in a moving vehicle, for example a road vehicle, although it might be applicable to other situations.
  • Many wheelchairs have a brake which can be applied by the occupant, and can be arranged to remain applied without calling for further attention from the occupant. Whilst this prevents most movements of the wheelchair it could tilt or slide with respect to the floor, or the brake could be inadvertently released. It may therefore be desirable to restrain the wheelchair more positively against unexpected movement, especially in a moving vehicle, such as a road vehicle, ship or aircraft.

  • the belt 5 splits into two portions 7, each terminating in a readily releasable clip 8 capable of being easily clipped by hand onto any convenient part of the structure of a wheelchair.

On reaching the destination the driver closes the switch again to release the belt and allow the occupant to move it away from the partition 1 and disengage the clips.
  • the belt 5 can be left fully retracted in normal use of the taxi, only the ends 7 protruding, so it does not interfere with normal use by able-bodied passengers, and both halves of the partition 1 can carry the usual "jump seats" 11.

Claims (10)

1. Système d'immobilisation d'un fauteuil-roulant, capable de retenir les roues d'un fauteuil-roulant contre une surface de contention (2), comportant un panneau de forme générale plate définissant la surface de contention (2), des moyens de contention sous forme d'un ou plusieurs éléments flexibles extensibles (5, 7) munis de dispositifs de fixation (8) grâce auxquels le fauteil-roulant peut être attaché, de façon détachable, à l'élément, ou aux éléments flexibles (5, 7) ainsi qu'un dispositif de contention à partir duquel l'élément ou les éléments flexibles (5, 7) sont extensibles, le dispositif de contention comprenant des moyens de rétraction élastique conçs pour tirer automatiquement l'élément ou les éléments flexibles (5, 7) en direction de la surface de contention (2) de façon à pousser les roues du fauteuil-roulant contre la surface de contention (2), et un dispositif de verrouillage qui peut placer le dispositif de contention dans un premier état ou dans un second état indépendamment de la position de l'élément ou des éléments flexibles (5, 7), le dispositif de contention, dans le premier état, autorisant l'extension manuelle de l'élément ou des éléments (5, 7) en agissant contre l'action des moyens de rétraction élastique et, dans le second état, empêchant cette extension et retenant de ce fait le fauteuil roulant contre la surface de contention (2).
2. Système d'immobilisation d'un fauteil-roulant selon la revendicaton 1, caractérisé en ce que les moyens de rétraction élastique du dispositif de contention sont constitués par un dévidoir à inertie (4) rétractable, et en ce que le dispositif de verrouillage comporte un cliquet en coopération avec le dévidoir (4), la disposition étant telle que, lorsque le dispositif de contention est dans le second état, le dévidoir (4) est verrouillé par la coopération du cliquet avec le dévidoir (4), et que, lorsque le dispositif de contention est dans le permier état, le cliquet est déverrouillé et l'élément ou les éléments flexibles (5, 7) automatiquement tendus par les moyens de rétraction.
3. Système d'immobilisation d'un fauteil-roulant selon la revendication 1 ou 2, caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte des moyens de signalisation (10) pour indiquer si le système se trouve dans le premier ou dans le second état.
4. Système d'immobilisation d'un fauteil-roulant selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3, caractérisé en ce que des surfaces de limitation du basculement sont prévues de chaque côté de la position dans laquelle la fauteil-roulant doit être retenu.
5. Système d'immobilisation d'un fauteil-roulant selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que le dispositif de verrouillage est commandé par une commande (9), à distance du dispositif de contention.
6. Système d'immobilisation d'un fauteuihrou- lant selon la revendication 5, caractérisé en ce que la commande (9) comporte un commutateur électrique.
7. Véhicule motorisé muni d'un système d'immobilisation d'un fauteil roulant conforme à l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes.
8. Véhicules motorisé selon la revendication 7, caractérisé en ce que le compartiment du conducteur est situé en avant du compartiment des passagers, et en est séparé par un cloison transversale (1) qui est décalée en avant dans la région qui s'éloigne du conducteur pour définir une niche entre le décalage dans la cloison et la paroi latérale du véhicule, de façon que la niche donne un plus grande espace dans le compartiment des passagers dans la région qui s'éloigne du conducteur que celui existant derrière le conducteur, et véhicule dans lequel le système d'immobilisation d'un fauteuil-roulant est disposé de façon à immobiliser un fauteuil-roulant dans la niche.
9. Véhicule motorisé selon la revendication 7 ou 8, caractérisé en ce que le système d'immobilisation du fauteuil-roulant est conçu pour immobiliser le fauteuil-roulant, dans un passage tel que l'occupant fait face à l'arrière du véhicule.
10. Véhicule motorisé selon l'une quelconque des revendications 7 à 9, caractérisé en ce que le dispositif de verrouillage est commandé par une commande disposé près du siège du conducteur du véhicule.
