Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for protecting the strings of a ball racket, in particular a tennis racket, having a band-shaped carrier which can be positioned in a circumferential groove on the outside of the frame and which has tubular projections which engage in radial openings in the circumferential groove of the frame, the carrier having an external one Has circumferential groove.
  • a disadvantage of these known designs is the fact that the portions of the strings running on the circumference of the frame of the tennis racket are exposed without protection, and for this purpose it has already been proposed to provide a circumferential groove on the outside of the tennis racket for a certain protection to ensure the strings in this area.
  • the strings remain exposed, so that on the one hand there is an external sight disturbing the overall picture of the racket, and on the other hand there is the risk that when the outer edge of the racket comes into contact with pointed objects, an unintentional shift of parts of the strings in this groove and thus an unintentional change in the tension of the strings and damage to the strings.
  • US-A-4 220 335 shows and describes a racket with a carrier for tubular attachments arranged in a circumferential groove on the outside of the frame, which engage in openings in the circumferential groove of the frame, through which the strings are guided during stringing.
  • the carrier is designed according to the outer contour of the frame and the string lies on the surface of the carrier after tensioning.
  • the invention now aims to provide a device of the type mentioned, which makes it possible to define the position of the strings on the outer contour of the frame of a tennis racket more precisely, and offers the possibility of bracing these strings protected and concealed.
  • the invention essentially consists in that the circumferential groove is delimited by recessed wall parts of the carrier, which can be moved relative to one another by tensioning the strings inserted into the circumferential groove of the carrier.
  • the circumferential groove of the carrier is at least partially closed, so that the strings lie in the circumferential groove in a completely protected manner.
  • the carrier consists of an elastically deformable material, in particular plastic.
  • the design is such that the side of the carrier facing the frame in the untensioned state of the strings between the base of the circumferential groove of the frame and the carrier leaves a space in which the carrier can be deformed by tensioning the strings.
  • the procedure is expediently such that the mutually facing edges of the recessed wall parts abut one another after assembly of the strings and have recesses or openings aligned with the tubular projections.
  • the recesses or openings aligned with the tubular lugs facilitate the assembly of the strings and the passage of the strings through the tubular lugs.
  • the arrangement can be made according to the invention such that the parts of the carrier which overlap the frame include an angle to the axis of the tubular lugs which is different from the angle of the adjacent frame surfaces to the axis of the tubular lugs before the strings are installed.
  • This angle which the parts of the carrier enclosing the frame enclose before the strings are installed, can be larger, for example.
  • the design is expediently such that the protruding wall parts of the circumferential groove of the carrier after the assembly of the strings complete the circumferential groove by deforming the angle of the parts of the carrier overlapping the frame.
  • the lateral parts of the carrier are appropriately shaped in the cross-sectional profile of the outer contour of the frame.
  • the lateral edges of the lateral parts of the carrier lie snugly against the tennis racket frame, which results in an aerodynamically favorable embodiment.
  • the tennis racket offers less aerodynamic drag when struck thanks to this aerodynamically favorable embodiment, and the strike can therefore be carried out more forcefully with less effort.
  • the circumferential groove is completely closed with the exception of the openings and the parts of the strings lying in the circumferential groove are therefore properly protected.
  • the base of the circumferential groove of the carrier adjacent to the tubular projections in the cross-sectional profile expediently has adjacent, longitudinally extending grooves with a rounded cross-section.
  • the cross section of the grooves is preferably at least the same size as the cross section of the strings, and a longitudinal bulge is provided between the grooves opposite the projecting wall parts. Due to the bead running between the grooves, the string is inevitably steered into one of the two grooves, so that it assumes a precisely defined position in the circumferential groove.
  • the strings are protected from damage and by reducing the air resistance when struck, a stronger stroke is made possible.
  • a frame 1 of a tennis racket is shown.
  • a carrier 2 with a plurality of tubular projections 3 is provided, in which a circumferential groove 4 for receiving a string 5 is arranged.
  • the string 5 is already under tension, so that the carrier 2 is pressed against the outer contour 6 of the frame 1.
  • the contour of the side parts 7 and 8 of the carrier facing the frame 1 is designed in accordance with the outer contour 6 of the frame 1, so that there is a positive overlap.
  • the circumferential groove 4 has two grooves 9 and 10, respectively, which promote the elastic deformation of the lateral parts 7 and 8.
  • the string 5 is subsequently passed through the cavity 11 of the tubular extension and the tubular extensions 3 and guided to the opposite side of the frame.
  • the carrier 2 shows the carrier 2 in the untensioned state, in which it is still placed on the frame 1.
  • the carrier 2 is formed in one piece with the tubular lugs and made of an elastically deformable material, such as plastic.
  • the carrier By tensioning the strings, the carrier, as shown in FIG. 3, is pressed in the direction of arrow 16, the inner contour 17 of the lateral parts 7 and 8 positively engaging the outer contour 6 of the frame 1.
  • this deformation triggers a movement of the edges 13 of the projecting wall parts 12 relative to one another, which is achieved in that the angle a, which encloses the lateral regions 7 and 8 with the axis 18 of the tubular projections 3, before tensioning or moving in the direction of arrow 16 is smaller than the angle ⁇ , which the lateral regions 7 and 8 assume after bracing with said axis 18, as shown in FIG. 3.
  • the lateral regions 7 and 8 are thus entangled in the direction of the arrows 19 when the tubular extensions move in the direction of the arrow 16, which results in the closed configuration shown in FIG. 3.
  • the tubular lugs 3 are arranged at intervals from one another on the carrier 2, which correspond to the intervals of the holes 20 in the tennis racket frame and penetrate into the holes 20 when the carrier moves in the direction of the arrow 16.
  • the carrier 2 which has been slightly modified in its profile, is placed on the frame 1 and the strings 5 are tensioned.
  • the carrier 2 is pressed against the frame 1 in the direction of the arrow 16 in FIG.
  • a slight air gap 21 can be seen between the frame 1 and the carrier 2. It is only essential that the outer edges 22 rest snugly on the frame 1, as a result of which the aerodynamically favorable shape is achieved.
  • Such an air gap 21 even has a favorable effect, since it favors the elastic deformation of the lateral parts 7 and 8 and the protruding wall parts 12.
  • Fig. 5 explains the assembly of the strings.
  • the carrier 2 lies in its position pressed against the frame, in which it is held by the already tensioned strings.
  • the string 5 to be assembled is placed in the position 5 'on the edges 13 of the recessed wall parts 12.
  • the string is inserted through the opening 14 into the tubular extension 3.
  • the string 5 When the string 5 is tensioned, it presses the projecting wall parts 12 downward and the string 5 slides from the position 5 'between the pressed-in projecting wall parts 12 into the circumferential groove 4 of the carrier 2, whereupon the projecting wall parts 12 snap back into the position shown.
