Definitions

  • the invention relates to a oarlock for rowing boats, in particular for sport and racing rowing boats, which has the task, on the one hand, to transmit the forces generated by the muscular work of the rower to propel the boat, and, on the other hand, to permit the circular movement of the rudder necessary for the rudder stroke.

  • the invention has for its object to avoid the increase in the actual oarlock distance when "going to the display" and to enable the rower, despite the anatomically limited maximum rear and bow ranges of the hand on the rudder, the largest possible display angle to reach.
  • This object is achieved according to the invention in that the oarlocks are manufactured in such a way that they move on the bow side of the axle, and the rudder rests against the leg of the oarlock when the blade is pulled through the water.
  • the leg of the oarlock which is remote from the axis, is designed as a contact leg with a correspondingly large area.
  • the lever closing the oarlock is designed so that it can transmit the tensile forces that occur.
  • the advantages achieved by the invention are, in particular, that the actual distance between the oarlocks decreases when "going into the display", and thereby a larger display angle is achieved.
  • the area of the final pull, which is less interesting for the propulsion of the boat, ie in the forward reverse position of the hand is reduced, the swept angle remains the same due to the same position of the axis. This also enables smaller rowers to reach out angles that were otherwise reserved for the anatomically preferred large rowers.

  • the stopper leg (11), like the lower leg (6), is profiled to save weight.
  • the oarlock surrounds the oarlock pin (2) over the entire surface. Fig. 4 of the drawing illustrates the operation of this oarlock.
  • the oarlock is rotatably seated on an oar pin (2) mounted on a bracket (12).
  • the boom is firmly connected to the boat (13), which moves in the direction of travel (14).
  • the reversal points of the rudder in the display (15) and in the supine position (16) are anatomical and are assumed to be fixed here. If the rower moves the rudder (3) from (15) to (16), he will cover the angle (17). This angle is of the same size as that swept over in the current state of the art, but is further displaced into the display by the angle (18) relative to the reversing positions according to the state of the art (19) due to the bow-side mounting of the rudder in the oarlock. As a result, the hydrodynamic conditions on the blade (20) can be better used, which ultimately equates to a higher boat speed. Due to the constant position of the oarlock pin (2) and the shown configuration of the oarlock, the majority of the current boats can be converted inexpensively and without difficulty, which is very beneficial to equal opportunities, especially in racing rowing.

Abstract

Description

Patent Nr. 0 035 876, Yamaha, Europ. Patent Nr. 0 061 200, W.A.
    • Fig. 1 : Ansicht von der Seite
    • Fig. 2 : Ansicht von Oben
    • Fig. 3 : Ansicht vom Bug
    • Fig. 4 : Arbeitsweise der Dolle beim Ruderschlag von Oben gesehen.
