Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device for collating different printed products according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such a device is known for example from DE-AS 1,260,487.
  • printed products of a first type are inserted into the pockets rotating in a vertical plane at the transition from the lower, returning run of the pocket circulation by means of an feeder.
  • the individual conveyor equipped with controlled grippers is arranged as a further feed conveyor, which feeds printed products of a further type, these being transported hanging in the delivery area of the individual conveyor.
  • This delivery area of the single conveyor moves synchronously with the pocket circulation, as well as parallel to and at a considerable distance above it. The product released by the gripper then falls freely into the intended pocket.
  • the proposed device according to the invention has the features specified in the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
  • the bags can be loaded to a certain extent "accompanied", with the guidance also being carried out for this ensures that the lower edge of the printed products is safely inserted into the intended pocket.
  • the loading opening of the pockets can be kept relatively narrow, which allows the number of pockets (for a given orbit) to be increased considerably and thus the "swallowing capacity" of the device to be increased even without increasing the circulation speed. Fluttering to the printed products in the delivery area of the individual conveyor is practically impossible.
  • the device 10 shown in FIG. 1 has a plurality of pockets 11 of identical design, which are arranged at equal distances from one another and are driven along a closed orbit in the direction of the arrow 12. Only part of this orbit is shown in FIG. 1 and this runs essentially in a horizontal plane. Along this orbit there are several feed devices of the same type, of which only the delivery areas of the feed devices 13 and 14 are shown in FIG. 1. These feed devices 13, 14 each exist from a single conveyor l5 in overhead design, as described, for example, in US Pat. No. 3,955,667. In the present case it is only important that these individual conveyors l5 are equipped with controlled grippers l6 (FIG. 2) for gripping a printed product in each case.
  • FIG. 2 controlled grippers l6
  • the grippers l6 of each of the individual conveyors l5 are fastened to an endless pulling element l8 guided in a hollow rail l7 at mutual distances which correspond to the distances of the pockets 11 from one another.
  • the traction element 18 is driven in the direction of the arrow 19 at a speed corresponding to the rotational speed of the pockets 11.
  • each of the individual conveyors l5 there is a guide plate 20 'fastened to the rail l7, which guides the leading or freely hanging edges of the supplied printed products A exactly in the direction of the loading opening of one of the pockets 11.
  • the position of the leading edges of the printed products in the delivery area is thus precisely defined, which means that the influence of the "driving wind", namely fluttering at higher conveying speeds of the individual conveyors, is eliminated.
  • each of the individual conveyors l5, which belong to the device 10 is fed with printed products, for example directly from a rotary press or from a storage device.
  • the individual conveyor 15 shown in FIG. 2 feeds each of the pockets passing by with a printed product of the genus "A", whereas these bags have previously been loaded with many other printed products. From FIGS. 1 and 2 it can also be clearly seen that the bags in the delivery area of the individual conveyors pass to a certain extent in "reserve".
  • Fig. 1 the area of a delivery station 2l is indicated with a curly bracket.
  • the pockets 11 are first tilted from the "reserve” into a "template", so that the printed products contained therein tip from the system on one wall of the respective pocket to the system on the opposite wall. Then the floor becomes everyone
  • the bag is opened and the printed products, which are brought together in a bag to form the set of printed products, fall down into a device 22 for further processing of the printed products due to their own weight.
  • This further processing device can be, for example, a saddle stitcher, a binding machine or a stretching machine, for example of the type as shown schematically and described in detail in CH-PS 575,303 or US Pat. No. 4,058,202.
  • each pocket 11 has a leading wall 23 and a trailing wall 24. Both of these walls are formed by a frame 26 or 27 covered with a wire mesh 25 (FIG. 4) made of an L-profile. Laterally, the leading wall 23 and the trailing wall 24 are held in a fixed reference position to one another at the top and bottom by struts 28, 29 connecting the frames 26, 27. At the lower edge of the leading wall 23, a flap 31 is articulated at 30, which forms the bottom of the pocket 11. The flap 3l is normally held in the closed state by a pawl 34 formed at the end of one arm of an angle lever 32 pretensioned by a tension spring 33.
  • a strut 35 that connects the upright spars of the frames 36, 37 seen in the circumferential direction stands laterally a pin 36 on which the angle lever 32 is pivotally mounted.
  • the other arm of the angle lever 32 is provided with a run-up surface 37.
  • a roller 38 cooperating with the run-up surface 37 is provided, which can be retracted into the orbit of the run-up surface 37 by means of an actuating element 39, for example a fluidic unit or a lifting magnet (dash-dotted lines in FIG. 4) or extended (pulled out) in Fig. 4).
  • roller 38 If the roller 38 is retracted, the run-up surface 37 is pressed down as it passes and the angle lever 32 is pivoted counter-clockwise (dash-dotted lines in FIG. 3), the pawl 34 releases the free edge of the flap 3l and this opens under the effect of the even weight and drops the printed products present in the bag 11 (not shown in FIG. 3), as shown in FIG. 1 at the level of the delivery station 2l.
  • a resilient striker 40 is attached to it, which runs in the course of the circular movement onto a closing link 4l arranged downstream of the roller 38 (shown in FIG. 3 for simplicity at approximately the same height as roller 38).
  • This run-up causes the flap 31 to fold up from the open position shown in dash-dotted lines in FIG. 3 to the closed position shown in solid lines, as a result of which the free edge of the flap engages in the pawl 34 again.
  • a strut 42 connecting the frames 26 and 27 carries a laterally projecting, freely rotatable roller 43 which rolls on a rail 44 surrounding the entire orbit of the pockets. So that all pockets are supported on the rail 44.
  • a hollow rail 45 which is open towards the side of the pockets 11 and is essentially C-shaped in cross section is arranged, which serves to guide a chain 48 provided with rollers 46, 47.
  • This chain 48 can be constructed as described in CH-PS 588.647.
  • the side of a pocket 11 appearing on the right in FIG. 4 is coupled to each of the connecting plates 49 present between successive rollers 47 of the chain 48 via a driving coupling piece 50 in such a way that it is capable of swinging about an axis coaxial with the axis of the roller 43.
  • each pocket ll carries on its side facing the chain 48 two further, freely rotatable rollers 5l, 52, the axes of rotation of which with respect to the axis about which the pocket ll is pendulum-capable , are arranged in the direction of rotation to the rear or to the front.
  • the rollers 5l, 52 act alternately in the course of the circulation of the associated pocket 11, each with an associated backdrop, of which only the backdrop 53 assigned to the roller 5l is shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.
  • roller 51 is in the case of a sliding surface of the link 53 falling in the circumferential direction is pressed down and thus tilts the bag into “reserve”, as shown in Fig. 2. If, on the other hand, the roller 52 is pressed downward by the backdrop associated with it, but not shown, the pocket 11 pivots from the "reserve” into a “template”, as shown in FIG. 1 at the beginning of the delivery station 2l.
  • FIG. 3 finally shows that a deflector plate 54, which extends over the entire width of its loading opening, is attached to the upper edge of the trailing wall 24 of each pocket 11.
  • the function of this deflector plate 54 can be clearly seen from FIG. 2.
  • the pockets are controlled by the means described so that they run past the individual conveyors l5 in “reserve”.
  • each product supplied to the bag after passing through the insertion slot delimited between the free edge of the deflector plate 54 and the leading wall 23, for bearing against the trailing wall 24 or against those already present in the bag 11 Products arrive so that there are no obstacles in the way of loading the bag II with further printed products.
  • bag 11 Shortly before emptying, bag 11 is then tipped into "template” and during emptying back into “reserve”. The result of this is that during the emptying of the pocket, the bottom opening of the pocket, which is opened by the flap 3l, leads its circulating movement somewhat. This facilitates the delivery of the printed products collected in the bag.
  • the orbit of the pockets 11 is represented by two oval, solid lines.
  • the chain 48 which takes the bags 11 with it, is indicated by an oval dash-dotted line.
  • the drive wheel that drives the chain 48 is indicated by the dot-dash circle 55 and the motor coupled to the drive wheel is indicated by 56.
  • a total of six individual conveyors l5 opening onto the orbit of pockets 11 can also be seen.
  • the orbit of the pockets 11 covers the horizontal-axis cellular wheel of the inserting machine 22 and the dispensing station 2l is located in the area of this cellular wheel.
  • the pockets 11 can, thanks to their pendulous suspension, extend around a chain perpendicular to the chain 48 and parallel to their walls 23, 24
  • the axis of the axis can also be controlled in its inclination in the case of a rising or falling portion of the orbit of the chain 48 in such a way that it can be loaded from above without any problems.
