- a hard steel ring 13 fixed to the connector by means of a pin 14. This ring bears on a shoulder 15 which has the upper part of the raccored. Between the ring 13 and the thread 12 is a seal 16.
- the slide 19 is followed by two drill collars 20. At the end of each drill collar is inserted a short hollow rod coated with a sleeve 21 of hard rubber with a diameter large enough to allow centering and the recovery of torque in favor of the casing rotating at the same speed as the drill stand.
- a bottom motor 22 rotated by a hydraulic fluid circulating in the hollow rods of the column and comprising, in order, an upper part of stator 23 , a stator 24 and a rotor 25.
- the upper part 23 carries a ring with longitudinal grooves 26 serving as abutments. In fact, when the casing section 1 is correctly screwed onto the connector 10, the projecting parts of said grooves 26 bear on an internal shoulder 2 which the casing section 1 has at this level.
- the stator 24 and the rotor 25 form a ball bearing 27.
- a drilling tool 28 via the upper part 29 of the tool.
- the central part of the drilling tool 28 carries a bronze centering ring 30, free to rotate and whose outside diameter is only a few tenths of a millimeter less than the inside diameter of the casing.
- the front end of the casing section 1 carries a crown 3 with trim abrasive ture.
- the rotor 25 is provided with vents 31 distributed concentrically and which are intended for the flow of the hydraulic fluid in front of the crown 3 to release the cutting face.
- the distance separating the connector 10 from the drilling tool 28 is calculated in such a way that, when the screwing of the part 1a of the section 1 is correctly carried out, the projecting parts of the grooves 26 bear on the shoulder 2, the ring 30 is at the level of the crown 3 and the distance between the end of the crown 3 and that of the tool 28 takes a predetermined value.
- the thread 12 undergoes considerable stresses during the operation of the rotational driving of the casing.
- a hard steel ring is placed against the shoulder of this fitting so as to reduce the risk of such deformation.
- the drive fitting 10 is a cylindrical fitting of a safety seal whose application is conventional in the field of drilling.
- This cylindrical connection has a lower unscrewing torque than that of the conical connections by means of which the drilling rods are connected. Therefore, by exerting a torque opposite to the direction applied during drilling, we manage to separate the casing from the fitting, without the connection of the rods being affected.
- the bronze ring 30 has an important role. Indeed, the tool driven by the rotor rotating at around 400 rpm and the crown rotating at around 40-60 rpm, it is important that there is no direct contact between the two and that the crown does not come to damage part of the drilling tool.
