Definitions
- the subject of the invention is a new composite thermal insulating material, based on mineral fibers, more particularly a material comprising a strip of felt made of mineral fibers, covered on one of its faces with a protective sheet which is practically waterproof. air and vapor.
- a material can advantageously be used for thermal insulation of roofs, floors or walls with wooden frames.
- the panels or felts based on mineral fibers can be lined, on one of their faces, with a protective sheet acting as a vapor barrier.
- a protective sheet can either be placed separately, during additional handling, or be pre-glued to the external face of the mass of mineral fibers: the vapor barrier sheets known to date are made of paper, aluminum or else composite material based on paper or aluminum for example.
- the protective sheet trice has lateral fixing tabs. Once placed between two beams of a roof for example, said material is held in place by means of tabs nailed or stapled to the same beam.
- the uncoated felts or panels are held in place by lateral compression of the mass of mineral fibers.
- the insulating material comprises a felt strip 1, preferably rectilinear, made of mineral fibers.
- a felt strip 1, preferably rectilinear, made of mineral fibers.
- glass wool or rock wool, or any other suitable mineral fiber.
- glass wool is used, the density of which may advantageously be between 6 and 18 kg / m3 approximately. This is an easy-to-use and easily compressible material, either laterally when it is placed between two beams, or for packaging the rolls in the factory (compression ratio of 2.5 to 5 times) .
- the strip 1 also comprises, on its external face 2 (that is to say on the side of the user) a protective sheet 3 made of a translucent polymer material, even transparent depending on the case, flame retardant.
- a translucent polymer material even transparent depending on the case, flame retardant.
- Such a material must indeed be translucent if not transparent, to allow visual control of the insertion of the strip 1 between two beams for example. It must also be difficult to burn for reasons of standards and safety that are understandable.
- the smoke from its combustion must not contain toxic residues such as chlorine residues for example.
- the rate of opacity of the air by the smoke from its combustion will be minimum, between 0 and 50%.
- a material of the polyolefin type such as polyethylene or polypropylene, is preferably used, flame retarded by means of current techniques.
- Such protective polyethylene sheets have the mechanical strength desired for holding in place and handling the material according to the invention; at the same time, they have sufficient flexibility so as not to be punctured or torn accidentally during the laying operations or once the insulating material is in place. Such flexibility is not found in known vapor barriers, paper or aluminum.
- the protective sheet 3 is of dimensions such that it protrudes on either side of the strip 1, so that the excess lateral portions 4, 5 of protective sheet 3 act as a fastening member for the insulating material (see figure 3 on this subject).
- This fixing can be carried out using any known means such as "U" nails, staples or self-adhesive seals for example. Additional seals made of compatible polymer material can also be placed between two adjacent tabs, which will then be superimposed when the material is laid. according to the invention. It is thus possible to ensure optimum air tightness, in particular to pressurized air such as a strong external wind.
- the protective sheet 3 adheres only to the central portion 6 of the external face 2 of the felt strip 1.
- two free lateral zones 7, 8 are formed on said face 2 any adhesion.
- the corresponding portion of the felt strip can then be easily compressed laterally (arrows in Figures 1 and 2), of several centimeters for example, to adapt to the errors of parallelism of two beams or to any other disparity encountered in the construction of '' a structured roof.
- the sheet 3 can be simply glued to the external face 2 of the strip 1. This gluing can be carried out in full surface, by points distributed symmetrically in said zone 6 or by parallel strips or ridges. There are adhesives in the specialized trade having the qualities required for the manufacture of the material according to the invention.

Abstract
