Description
The invention relates to a splinter body for splinter projectiles, in which splinters designed as spheres are pressed between two centrally arranged shells, the outer shell being plastically molded into a recess having the balls.
From the German patent 28 52 657 an above-mentioned splinter body for splinter projectiles is known.
According to the previous production method, the balls were applied to the inner shell, an outer shell was pushed over it and the outer shell was forged over the length covered with balls. When producing the projectile casing from the above-mentioned forged part, weld seams had to be placed at the front joints to achieve the required tightness between the two casings. These seams were only partially gas-tight and had to be sealed by an expensive after-treatment. The seam leakage caused moisture to enter the splinter area and impaired the strength of the outer shell due to corrosion.
The object of the invention is therefore to design the end-face contact surfaces of the sleeves so that the outer sleeve is connected to the inner sleeve in a gas-tight manner.
The invention solves this problem in that the recess is dovetail-shaped and the outer shell with its corresponding end faces rests over the entire surface with relatively high pressure. In addition to the inexpensive manufacture, a further advantage of the invention is that the front end connection of the inner and outer shell is stable in the case of highly stressed projectiles.
At this juncture, with the high swirl stresses or swirl projectiles in largely imposed gun barrels, the inner shell has so far been detached by protruding beyond the contour of the projectile. As a result, the hit position of the projectile changed significantly.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing.
An inner shell 1 has a dovetail-shaped recess 2 with undercut end faces 3 and 4. The inner shell 1 forms, with an outer shell 5, a
The compressive stresses indicated by the
On the ogive-side end face 3, this is achieved by a
A sealing ring can be forged in the
