Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a machine for the CNC-controlled grinding of decorative surfaces of the like to relatively large deviations from the desired shape of workpieces made of glass, such as hollow glasses or the like, the grinding of each decorative surface being carried out in a preliminary grinding and at least one regrinding. In order to achieve uniform decorative surfaces in spite of the glasses, which sometimes differ considerably from the target shape, the grinding tool (2) or the workpiece (11) can recede in the infeed direction during pre-grinding if a preselectable grinding pressure limit value is exceeded, regardless of the infeed device. Any deviations in the position of the point of engagement between the tool (2) and the workpiece (11) that occur as a result are recorded by measurement technology and correction values to be taken into account are stored in the control system as during regrinding, in which the possibility of the grinding tool (2) or workpiece (11) then being blocked is blocked .

Description

The invention relates to a method and a machine for the CNC-controlled grinding of decorative surfaces, decorative grooves or the like on hollow glasses or the like, according to the preambles of claims 1 and 2.

Hollow glasses, in particular mouth-blown glasses, are inevitably fraught with large tolerances due to the way they are manufactured, which make automation of decorative grinding considerably more difficult. Until now, efforts have been made to take these conditions into account by flexibly arranging either the tool or the workpiece in the machine and controlling the grinding process only by means of the grinding pressure. Satisfactorily uniform decorative cuts can be obtained, however, as long as the cutting ability of the grinding tool does not change significantly, which must accordingly be constantly monitored by the operator of the machine. Nevertheless, considerable grinding deviations occur again and again, which, moreover, creates further difficulties when it comes to pre-grinding that still has to be further processed, that is to say finely ground and / or polished.
In contrast, the object of the invention is to provide a method and a machine with which dimensionally identical decorative patterns can be achieved automatically even with glasses which deviate considerably from their target contour.

This object is achieved in the method which is assumed to be known in the preamble of claim 1 and in the machine described in the preamble of claim 2 from the features contained in the characteristics of claims 1 and 2. The method according to the invention and the machine for its implementation enable the grinding depth during pre-grinding not to exceed certain permissible values during decorative grinding, on the one hand despite the programmed delivery values corresponding to the target dimensions of the glass blanks and on the other hand despite the considerable deviations from their target contour that occur arbitrarily for the individual glasses these contour deviations are also taken into account when regrinding, so that the decors on the finished glass, regardless of the actual contours of the glass blanks, all have essentially the same dimensions and thus also the same appearance. This is especially important when decorating grooves or so-called olives are ground, because grooves of different depths are particularly noticeable and, in addition, rejects can easily arise by grinding the glass.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing schematically illustrating an exemplary embodiment.

Dabei zeigt:

  • Fig. 1 den Dekor-Vorschliff eines Hohlglases
It shows:
  • Fig. 1 shows the decorative pre-grinding of a hollow glass
    and
  • Fig. 2 or the decorative regrinding (s) using a machine according to the invention.

The hollow glass 11 to be ground is held in the machine by means of a pivotable workpiece holder 1. 1, the grinding tool 2 moves on a path 3 preprogrammed according to the desired value of the decoration to be ground on the glass into the position 4 shown in broken lines. In order to take into account the contour deviations of the individual glasses from their desired contour, a piston-cylinder unit 6 is used the pivotable workpiece holder 1 and thus the workpiece 11 are pressed against the grinding tool 2, the pressure in the piston-cylinder unit 6 being set to a specific value. This pressure corresponds to a desired machining of the first pre-grinding tool (grinding tool 2), which is designed in such a way that the smallest possible machining deviations occur over the period of use, since this grinding cycle is intended to serve more for sensing the surface and for careful preparation for the following grinding process. The actual surface is felt in such a way that when there is a contour deviation of the workpiece 11 from the target contour, the counterpressure in the piston-cylinder unit 6 is overcome, and thus there is evasion or pushing against it the grinding wheel 2. These then occurring movements of the workpiece 11 or the workpiece holder 1 are simultaneously detected by a position measuring system 5 and stored in the control of the machine. The further machining operations then take place according to FIG. 2, with the workpiece holder 1 locked by the piston-cylinder unit 6 against a stop 10, taking into account the individual deviations measured on the glass during pre-grinding and stored in the machine, ie the tool 7 used during regrinding, the rest may be identical to the tool 2 used in the pre-grinding, moves into the position 9 during the further processing of the pre-processed decorative surfaces on a path 8 corrected according to the actual contour of the respective glass 11.
