Description
The invention relates to a melt spinning process for producing pre-oriented, less crystalline filaments (POY), which are characterized by a particularly high uniformity. More particularly, the invention relates to the manufacture of POY filaments suitable for processing by high speed friction stretch texturing, i.e. H. of well over 600 m / min.
Processes for producing POY filaments are known and characterize melt spinning processes in which the filaments are drawn off at high spinning speeds. For polyester filaments, speeds greater than 2750 m / min are usually used, a degree of pre-orientation being achieved which is described by a birefringence greater than 0.025. The elongation at break of these filaments is then less than 180%. An upper limit of the spinning speed results from orientation-induced crystallization. For polyester, it is 4200 m / min.
Pre-oriented filaments are characterized by high thread tensions when drawn off at high spinning speeds. Depending on the spinning process and the control of the thread-air friction of the threads on the way from the cooling zone below the spinneret to the entry into the take-off machine, thread tensions can exceed 0.3 to 0.5 cN / dtex occur. On the other hand, in view of optimal bobbin build-up, limited winding thread tensions between 0.05 and 0.3 cN / dtex are aimed for.
When the spinning speeds are not too high, the tension requirements are met by take-off machines which draw off and wind up the filaments directly without godets, the take-up speed being specified by the winding unit.
Such a method is e.g. See, for example, U.S. Patent 4,446,299 to Koschinek et al. described. When working without godets, however, there is no possibility of regulating yarn vibrations and tension fluctuations, so that filaments are obtained with at most average uniformity.
In other cases, two driven, single-looped take-off godets are used before the filaments are wound up.
For example, the method of U.S. Patent 4,517,149 to Oka et al. on the production of raw yarns for knitting and weaving use, with spinning a stretching treatment between two godets is connected, and the process speed should be at least 5000 m / min. The godets are operated unheated.
This involves stretched yarns, with lower draw ratios of up to 20% as the draw-off speed increases above 5000 m / min. be applied. A reference to further processing in the stretch texturing process is thus excluded from the outset.
If no drawing is used (US Pat. No. 4,517,149, Tab. 4, Comparative Example 8), yarn vibrations occur between the two godets, which lead to excessive fluctuations in the bobbin tension and are classified as negative. In the non-crystalline property range for speeds at 4000 m / min, unacceptably high values are obtained. It should be noted that the Uter values are unclear because the test mode was not specified.
Furthermore, U.S. Patent 3,772,872 to Piazza et al. a process for the production of textured yarns, starting from undrawn, oriented threads with low crystallization, is known.
The spinning threads are drawn off with a pair of rapid draw-off rollers at speeds which provide specific average parameters in the POY. Thread take-off fluctuations, their meaning and correlation with thread characteristics and the texturing behavior are not described.
If statements are made about texturing, a false wire spindle process at a maximum working speed of 114 m / min is used. Statements about a friction disc process with speeds well above 600 m / min cannot be derived from this.
The object of the present invention is therefore to produce pre-oriented, less crystalline synthetic filaments which are distinguished by a high degree of uniformity and the possibility of being processed at high speeds in a friction stretch texturing process into high-quality textured yarns.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in a method according to the preamble of the main claim in that the damping ratio of the spinning thread between the cooling point and the winding unit is less than 0.10, the damping ratio being the ratio of the fluctuation range of the thread tension at the beginning of the thread path described to that at the end this thread path is defined, and as a godet system a driven godet with a free-running idler roller in multiple wrapping can be used.
The process according to the invention is suitable for all melt-spinnable polymers, such as polypropylene, polyamides, in particular PA-6, PA-6,6 and PA-4,6, copolyamides, polyesters, in particular polyethylene terephthalate and polybutylene terephthalate, and copolyesters .
In the case of polyester, the filaments are produced in a spin draw area greater than 2400 m / min and a maximum of 4200 m / min. The speed at which the filaments are withdrawn from the driven godet is described as the withdrawal speed. they corresponds in practice to the peripheral speed of this godet. The speed of the assigned feed roller is set lower according to the entrainment through the filaments.
The use of multiple wrapping also prevents stretching in the godet system. Likewise, a temperature treatment that would inevitably increase the crystallinity is excluded.
The speed of the driven godet relative to the winder speed is adjusted in a known manner with regard to the bobbin construction and the thread tension between these two systems. According to the invention, this must not be chosen too high in relation to the elastic behavior of the filaments, characterized by the initial region (A) of the force-elongation diagram, shown as an example in Fig. 1.
Verwendet wurde das Electronic Tensiometer der Firma Rothschild/Schweiz, Typ R-3192, und Schnellschreiber, Typ R-3094.According to the invention, the thread tension fluctuations are measured at selected points along the thread path, in particular at the thread cooling point, directly in front of the godet unit and in front of the winder. A high frequency resolution of approximately 120 Hz is important for the measuring method. The electronic tensiometer from Rothschild / Switzerland, type R-3192, and high-speed recorder, type R-3094 were used.
The cooling point is the point at which the thread has cooled to such an extent that it does not appear on the measuring head of the tension measuring device. Measured temperatures are below the glass transition point of the polymer.
Up to the measuring point directly in front of the godet system, the mean thread tension has increased by the amounts of thread-air friction and the friction around thread guides along the thread path.
The terms "before" and "after" are always used in relation to the thread running direction. In the prior art, this direction characterizes the causality of influences of the thread tension on the uniformity properties of the wound filaments.
According to U.S. Patent 4,517,149, with a higher draw ratio between the godets, lower thread tension fluctuations after the godets are obtained, resulting in better yarn properties.
Das Dämpfungsverhaltnis allein des Galettensystems lag bei 0,27.When understanding the state of the art with take-off systems without godets or with differently wrapped pairs of godets, voltage fluctuations in front of the winder of 13.5 and 25.7% (examples 1 and 2) and damping ratios for the entire thread path of 0.44 for godetless and 0 , 16 determined for a pair of godets wrapped in a meandering shape. The damping ratio of the godet system alone was 0.27.
In the process according to the invention with a blowing length of 700 to 1500 mm, a distance of the preparation oil from Zimmer from the spinneret of 700 to 1500 mm, a spinning length of 4400 to 6000 mm, defined as the distance between the spinneret and the godet entry point, and a godet system with a driven one Galette with idler roller, voltage fluctuations in front of the winder of 39.6%, in front of the godet unit of 4.4% and at the cooling point of 2.0% were measured. The damping ratios were 0.11 based on the godet unit and 0.051 based on the total spinning path.
Überraschenderweise zeigte sich bei der Bewertung der Filamenteigenschaften, daß die erfindungsgemäß hergestellten Filamente, im Vergleich zum Stand der Technik, bessere Uster-Werte aufwiesen, und zwar im Uster-Normaltest maximal 0,5 U% bei einem Schwankungsbereich von maximal 2,0 %.Surprisingly, it was found in the evaluation of the filament properties that the filaments produced according to the invention had better Uster values than in the prior art, namely in the Uster normal test a maximum of 0.5 U% with a fluctuation range of a maximum of 2.0%.
At the same time, a more evenly textured yarn was obtained during the stretch texturing, even at high texturing speeds.
It was surprising that - contrary to previous causality - no worse yarn result was obtained because of the high tension fluctuations in front of the winder. It was even shown that when the number of loops of the godet system used according to the invention was varied, the best yarn result was obtained when the tension fluctuation in front of the winder was at a maximum.
In practice, the optimal number of loops of the godet system can be determined by measuring the thread tension fluctuations and determining the damping ratio in the form given if the number of loops around the godet system is gradually increased for a configuration of the spinning device.
This surprising result suggests a reversed causality of the influence of thread tension fluctuations with respect to the thread running direction.
Short-period voltage fluctuations arise due to the traversing principle of the high-speed winders and yarn vibrations in the godet system. These do not affect the yarn quality in the direction of the thread travel if the tension towards the winder is set sufficiently low in the elastic thread area. But they spread against the direction of the thread to the plastic thread area below the spinneret and there lead to periodic fluctuations in mass and structure in the cooling thread, namely in the frequency of the generator disturbance. A voltage device with high frequency resolution is therefore a prerequisite for recognizing this mechanism.
According to the invention, the damping ratio was recognized as a measure of the effect of these disturbances on the thread quality. By definition, the damping ratio of the entire thread path or the godet system is the ratio of the fluctuation range of the thread tension at the cooling point or directly in front of the godet system to that in front of the winder.
Conventional two-godet systems are characterized by damping ratios above 0.25 to 0.30.
The godet system used with multiple wrapping according to the invention has a damping ratio of at most 0.19, which results in a damping ratio of less than 0.10 for the entire thread path, corresponding to a thread tension fluctuation at the cooling point of at most 2.6% or directly in front of the winder from at least 26%.
