Mit 1 ist eine senkrechte Lüftungstrennwand bezeichnet, die einen Arbeitsbereich in zwei separate, voneinander lüftungstechnisch getrennte Räume 2 und 3 unterteilt. Der Raum 2 ist mit einer offenen radioaktiven Belastung beaufschlagt, also kontaminiert, da sich in ihm zerlegte abgebrannte Brennelemente befinden, die z. B. als Brennstabbündel oder als gepreßte quadratische Brennelement-Strukturteile, sogenannte Preßlinge, ausgelagert werden. Der Raum 3 ist kontaminationsfrei; er dient dem Beladen von endzulagernden Behältnissen 4 mit den auszulagernden radioaktiven Gegenständen 5. Die Lüftungstrennwand 1 weist eine Öffnung auf, vor der sich ein Einsatz 6 befindet, der mit zwei in ihrem Querschnitt unterschiedlichen Öffnungen 7 und 8 versehen ist. Die Öffnung 7 weist einen quadratischen Querschnitt auf und dient zum Durchlaß von Preßlingen. Die Öffnung 8 weist einen Querschnitt in Form eines an einer Seite gewölbten Trapezes auf und dient zum Durchlaß von Brennstabbündeln. Die Öffnungen 7 und 8 sind in ihrem Querschnitt genau entsprechend den Maßen der endzulagernden Behältnisse 4 ausgearbeitet. Die Öffnungen 7 und 8 erweitern sich zu einem Bereich, der zur Aufnahme eines aufblasbaren Dichtringes 9 dient. Der Einsatz 6 besteht aus einer runden Scheibe, bei der sich die Öffnungen 7 und 8 auf einer zum Mittelpunkt der Scheibe konzentrischen Kreislinie befinden.
