Definitions
- the present invention relates to small depilatory devices capable of being held in the hand to remove excess hair.
- Some of the current devices of this kind comprise, for pulling out the hairs to be removed, a rotary depilation roller formed by a series of thin disks arranged side by side with a little play between them, mechanical actuation means being also provided for periodically pinching the bristles engaged between these discs. These are then torn off due to the rotation of the hair removal roller.
- the present invention relates to an epilating device in which there are provided pinching blades which are arranged in a completely different manner in order to avoid the drawbacks of the devices mentioned above.
- the epilating device comprises a series of pliers consisting of blades carried by a mobile support and which are themselves driven by movements successively causing them to be pressed against each other to pinch the hairs to be pulled out and spread apart to allow the prior introduction of these between these blades.
- this device is characterized in that: .
- the support of the pinching blades constituting the tear-off pliers consists of a part of generally flat shape animated by a rotational movement around a central axis perpendicular thereto, .
- the nip blades are mounted on this support in the form of one or more rows arranged radially and in each of which they are placed at right angles to the corresponding radius of rotation and these blades are mounted movable so that their free edges can alternately be pressed against each other or spread apart, .
- means for actuating these blades are provided, which are capable of causing, at least once per rotation, the tightening and opening of the clamps formed by these blades.
- the free edges of the pinching blades are arranged in the same plane which is intended to constitute the surface for applying this device to the skin.
- the hairs to be removed are caused to easily engage between the ends of these blades when they are spaced from each other. Then these hairs are pinched between these blades when they are tightened and they are then pulled out, because during a certain fraction of each rotation of the support of the assembly, these blades remain tight against each other.
- the means for actuating the movable blades are constituted, for each row of blades, by two strips slidably mounted on the rotary support of these blades and driven by movements of translation in opposite direction, these bars each comprising a fork or the like in which is engaged a part of the corresponding blade to be actuated.
- the movable blades constituting the pliers are flat and have the general shape of arcs which are mounted articulated, at their ends, on the support of these blades, the actuating bars being able to cause the pivoting of these blades alternately in one direction and in the other so as to close the clamps formed by the ends of these blades.
- the working head of the device shown by way of example in FIGS. 1 to 4 comprises a rigid body 1 in the general shape of a bowl which is attached to the end of a housing (not shown) containing the electric motor of the apparatus. This case can be held by hand to move the working head in contact with the skin.
- a plate 2 of generally rectangular shape which is rotatably mounted around a fixed central axis 3, perpendicular thereto.
- the rotational drive of the wafer 2 is provided by a rotary shaft 5, itself coupled with the output shaft of the motor, the end of this shaft being provided with a pinion 6 meshing with a toothed wheel 7 carried by the rotary plate 2.
- these blades are flat and they each have the general shape of an arch (see FIG. 3).
- blades are mounted one after the other on the support 2 in the form of two rows arranged radially on either side of the central axis XX ′. For clarity of the drawing, only one of these rows is shown in Figures 1 and 2, the other row being located on the opposite side, but on the same diameter.
- the blades 8a and 8b are arranged perpendicular to the corresponding radius OA. Consequently, they are tangent to the various concentric circles passing through the corresponding points of this radius OA. This is an important characteristic for the good engagement of the bristles between these blades and the efficiency of their subsequent pinching.
- each blade 8a or 8b is mounted articulated at its foot on bosses 9 provided on the internal face of two parallel ribs 10 carried by the upper face of the rotary plate 2. These bosses are engaged in notches provided on the internal edge of the lateral branches of the blades 8a and 8b. Due to this arrangement, these various blades are mounted articulated around a series of axes Y-Y ′, all arranged at right angles to the corresponding radius OA.
- These actuating means consist of two bars, one of which 11a is associated with the blades 8a, while the other 11b is associated with the blades 8b, and this in one and the other of the two rows arranged on the side and d 'other of axis XX ′.
- Each of these bars carries on the top a small fork 12a or 12b inside which is engaged the internal edge of the corresponding blade 8a or 8b.
- the inner edge of the blades 8a and 8b has a different cut so as to be gripped by the forks 12a and 12b which have offset positions.
- Each bar 11a and 11b has a central part 13a or 13b of square shape comprising a recess 14 inside which is located the upper end of the fixed axis 3. These two central parts 13a and 13b are superimposed, the two bars 11a and 11b comprising a special cutout for this purpose.
- the end of the fixed axis 3 carries bosses 15a and 15b constituting cams capable of acting on the parts opposite the bars. 11a and 11b, and this during each rotation of the movable support 2 of the assembly.
- the corresponding edges of the central parts of the bars may advantageously include balls 16 placed in contact with the end of the fixed axis 3.
- bosses 15a and 15b are able to repel one and the other bars to impart to them a sliding movement towards the outside.
- return springs 17a and 17b are provided which tend to return these bars in the opposite direction.
- the arrangement thus provided is such that twice per rotation of the movable support 2 of the assembly, one of the bars is pushed in one direction and the other in the opposite direction. This causes the blades 8a and 8b to pivot alternately in one direction and in the other so that their free edges are clamped against each other, as shown in FIG. 1.
- the latter may advantageously include a cap 17 carried by radial arms 18 secured to a ring 19, the latter being attached to the free edge of a cylindrical skirt 20 secured to the rotary plate 2.
- a number of cylinder sections may be provided, the free edge of which is located in the same plane as the free edge of these clips, or even slightly forward. These cylinder sections can rotate with the tweezers, in which case the rectangular plate 2 serving as a support for the tweezers is replaced by a disc and these cylinder sections are fixed thereon, in the space existing between the rows of pliers.
- the blades 8a and 8b could be curved. Moreover, they could possibly correspond to sections of concentric cylinders with center O.
- the sections of protective cylinders could be fixed by being placed in the intervals between the clamps. These cylinder sections could then be carried by the radial arms 18 integral with the cap 17. But any other suitable arrangement could be provided for this.
- the blades constituting the tweezers could have a shape other than the shape of a hoop, as is the case in the example previously described. Indeed, these blades could be mounted differently on the rotary support of the assembly, so as to be able to pivot in one direction and the other by being actuated by the sliding bars 1a and 11b or any other suitable mechanical means.
- cams 15a and 15b controlling the sliding bars 11a and 11b could be replaced by cams provided at the periphery of the mobile assembly and capable of acting on the external ends of these bars. Again these cams could control a more or less significant number of distinct phases of closing and opening of the tweezers.
- the movable support 2 of the assembly could be secured to a rotary central axis coupled with the output shaft of the drive motor.
- the cams controlling the sliding bars 11a and 11b should necessarily be provided at the periphery of the mobile assembly.
- the pinch blades 8a and 8b could be embedded at their base 21 in such a support 2a molded in plastic material thereon, as shown in the Figure 5. These blades should then have sufficient elasticity to be able to be clamped against each other, at the location of their free edges, by bending under the action of the two sliding control bars 11a and 11b, during the movement of these in reverse.
- the support 2a has a groove 22 of greater depth than the thickness of these bars. After fitting these bars, a strip 23 is then engaged under them.
- the pinching blades could be rigid and integral alternately with one and the other of two support and sliding actuation bars in opposite directions in the same way as the bars 11a and 11b, and this on a rotary support such as the wafer 2 or a disc replacing it.
- control means for example cams, capable of causing the sliding of these bars in the opposite direction, one or more times during each rotation of the mobile assembly.
- FIGS. 6 and 7 show yet another embodiment, in which the pinching blades, forming the tearing pliers, are produced in a completely different manner. Indeed, these are formed by bars cut from a strip or plate of elastic material, and this by practicing a series of parallel slots in such a plate.
- each of them comprises a plate 24a or 24b of elastic material, of generally rectangular shape, which extends over a diameter of the corresponding rotor.
- Each of these plates is rotated by the head 25 of a central shaft 26.
- Each of these two shafts carries a toothed wheel 27 meshing with a pinion 28 carried by the shaft of a drive motor 29.
- the ends of these two shafts are slidably mounted in the wall 30 of the corresponding end of the body 31 of the device.
- the diametral plate 24a or 24b of each rotor is disposed inside a support 31a or 31b of generally rectangular shape.
- the hollowed-out bottom of each of these supports comprises an annular rib 32 in contact with which are arranged two radial strips 33 placed under one and the other radial parts of each diametral plate 24a or 24b made of elastic material.
- the strips 33 are engaged under the bulged head 25 of the corresponding rotary shaft 26.
- a fixed plate 35 attached to the corresponding end of the body 31 of the device. Opposite the annular ribs 32 of the cup 31a or 31b of each rotor, the plate 35 has a groove 36 and rolling balls 37 are interposed at this location.
- each diametrical plate 24a or 24b of elastic material has a series of slots 38 delimiting as many pinching bars 39.
- All the slots 38 are made at approximately right angles to the corresponding diameter.
- These slots are formed in only part of the thickness of the plates 24a and 24b, in this case in their external part to open outwards.
- their opposite ends open into an inner cell 38a.
- These slots thus delimit as many parallel bars 39 which are intended to constitute the movable nip blades forming the tear-off pliers of each working rotor.
- pinching bars 39 can be tightened against each other to form tearing pliers, and this by contraction of the corresponding elastic plate 24a or 24b on itself. This corresponds moreover to the state of the elastic plate 24b of the right-hand rotor in FIG. 6.
- control means which ensure, during each rotation of each rotor, an axial displacement of the corresponding rotary shaft 26 in the direction F, then in the opposite direction.
- these control means consist of an annular cam 40 provided on a collar 41 secured to the plate 35.
- each shaft 26 carries a support ring 41 provided with rollers 42 arranged in contact with the corresponding cam 40.
- each lifting rotor is ultimately the same as in the embodiments described above. Indeed, after the hairs have been pinched between the bars 39, they are torn off due to the rotation of each of the corresponding rotors.
- the plate 24b of the right-hand rotor differs from the plate 24a of the right-hand rotor in that each of its radial parts has a large triangular notch 43 delimiting two distinct branches 44. In such a case, the parallel slots 38 separating the pinching bars 39 are formed in one and the other of these two branches. This therefore further increases the number of pinch bars.
- it may be provided, on either side of each diametral plate 24a or 24b, solid parts 45 rotating with the corresponding rotor. Thus, the presence of these solid parts prevents the skin from being able to engage in the intervals existing on either side of a rotary diametral plate 24a or 24b.
- the embodiment according to Figures 6 and 7 has the advantage of greater simplicity compared to the embodiments described above.
- FIGs 8 to 10 show a variant of the embodiment according to Figures 6 and 7.
- This variant differs from the previous by the fact that the radial strips 33 are replaced by two superimposed strips 46 and 47 which can be actuated by separate shoulders of the swollen head 25a of the corresponding rotary shaft 26a, and this when this shaft slides in the direction of the arrow F.
- the strips 47 can pivot on the top of the annular rib 32 of the bottom of the support 31a of the corresponding plate 24a of elastic material.
- the radial strips 46 they are slightly bent at their outer end and can thus pivot there on the corresponding end of the lower strip 47.
- each strip 46 carries a small lever 48 for tightening which extends against the end corresponding to the plate 24a of elastic material.
- Each of these levers is bent and can thus be articulated at 49 against the internal wall of the support 31a in the form of a bowl.
