Definitions
- the present invention relates to an anti-panic security lock of the type which is mounted on the doors intended to be quickly opened from the inside by simple actuation by an operator of a bar controlling the movement of the bolt of said lock in the striker with which it is associated.
- security locks are, in particular, frequently used on emergency exit doors from public places and others (cinemas, theaters, restaurants, etc.).
- panic locks that can be adapted to the two types of doors.
- Such locks are complex to handle, their reversibility necessitating the use of specific tools.
- such locks are relatively expensive.
- US-A-3,897,092 relates to a door opening device, with lever and panic bar, intended to be fitted on a lock already in place and the bolt of which is controlled by a rotary shaft, generally at square section.
- the device comprises a cam comprising a housing for receiving the control shaft of the bolt, and a lever, controlled by a panic bar, provided with a finger for rotating the cam.
- This device can be mounted either with the lever pointing downwards and the actuating bar located below the pivot axis of the lever, or, by turning the housing upside down, with the lever pointing upwards and the bar actuation located above the pivot axis of the lever, the cam can also be turned. This possibility of reversal allows mounting on a door "right” or "left”, already equipped with a bolt, but the lever will be directed up or down (or vice versa).
- the present invention provides, for its part, a panic lock device, comprising at least one bolt, which can be adapted both on "right” or “left” doors, which in particular makes it possible to considerably reduce stocks necessary and errors, this device having economic advantages and being of a very simple handling, its reversibility being able to be obtained without specific tool.
- the present invention provides an anti-panic lock in which the mechanism for operating the bolt of said lock can be reversed so that the actuating bar controlling said bolt can act on it in both directions of its pivoting movement , said actuating bar retaining, in the lock in place, the same relative position with respect to the pivot axis of the levers, whether the door is "to the right” or "to the left".
- the present invention therefore relates to an anti-panic lock intended to be mounted on a door and comprising at least one bolt admitting two positions, one authorizing the opening of the doors, the other being a closed position where said bolt can be engaged in a strike
- this lock comprising, in addition, an actuating bar pivotally connected to said door by a assembly formed by at least two housings fixed on said door and two levers integral towards one of their ends of the actuating bar and pivotally mounted, at their other end, in an associated housing, said lock comprising a first spring member recalling in a first of the two right dihedrons of the half-space defined by the plane parallel to the bottoms of the housings passing through the pivot axes of the levers and delimited by the plane perpendicular to the bottoms passing through the axes, corresponding to a first direction of door opening , the actuating bar and the levers to a rest position, one of the levers being a control lever cooperating with elements for actuating the bolt e during the angular displacement
- the first and the second spring member are constituted by a single spring with two branches journalled in the housing around the pivot axis of the lever of this housing, one of the branches of this spring being supported on a projecting part of said lever, the other of the branches of this spring being supported on a member integral with said housing.
- At least one housing of the lock has a first stop limiting the stroke of the associated lever in the first dihedron, this lever coming to bear on said stop for the rest position; according to the invention, the first stop can be moved in its housing so as to release the angular displacement of the associated lever, the lever then being able to pivot to be placed in the second dihedron; and at least one housing has a second stop making it possible to limit the angular displacement of the actuating bar in this second dihedron, one of the levers coming to bear against this second stop for the rest position in the second dihedron.
- one of the housings has a stop which serves both as the first and second stop.
- the or each stop can cooperate with holding means capable of stabilizing it in a position where it limits the travel of a lever.
- the housing comprises a bottom on which the element forming a stop is disposed, said element being able to move in translation on said bottom.
- the stop element can have two protuberances separated from each other by a recess in which the end of the associated lever can pivot, when the stop element is moved away from its working position, each protuberance serving as a proper stop depending on the direction. opening of the door to be fitted.
- Said abutment element can be held on said bottom by means of a rod serving as an abutment guide, passing through the housing at the bottom of the recess of said element.
- the housing has a bottom and the stop element can take, on the bottom of the housing, two positions symmetrical to each other with respect to the plane orthogonal to the bottom and passing through the geometric axis of pivoting of the associated lever.
- the element forming a stop can pivot in the housing with respect to an axis orthogonal to the geometric axis of pivoting of the associated lever and situated in a plane passing through this geometric axis and perpendicular to the bottom of the housing.
- the element forming a stop is associated with a light in the form of an arc of a circle on the bottom of its housing, this light cooperating with a retaining screw.
- the housing containing the stop element is distinct from the housing comprising the bolt.
- the stop element and the bolt with its mechanism.
- the housing including the bolt and the lever control is characterized in that the bolt is a lateral bolt pivoting in the housing, this bolt being tilted by an operating pin cooperating with two parts of the bolt distributed symmetrically with respect to the plane perpendicular to the bottom of the housing and passing through the axis of rotation of the lever.

- a spring 110 ⁇ On said axis 10 ⁇ 8 is journalled a spring 110 ⁇ whose two branches 111 are supported, respectively, one on a stop 112 which is provided with the end of the lever 10 ⁇ 2 opposite the actuating bar, the other on a lug 113 secured to one of the walls 10 ⁇ 7 a , or 10 ⁇ 7 b .
- the bottom 10 ⁇ 6 of said housing 10 ⁇ 4 is associated with an element 150 ⁇ forming an abutment, having a cross section in the form of an elbow, one branch 151 of which is the actual abutment perpendicular to the bottom 10 ⁇ 6.
- This branch 151 extends from said bottom 10 ⁇ 6 over a height corresponding substantially to the width of the rectangles partially defining the contour of the walls 10 ⁇ 7 a , 10 ⁇ 7 b , the other branch of this element 150 ⁇ being a tab 152 of small thickness, parallel to said bottom 10 ⁇ 6 and pivotally mounted around an axis 153 perpendicular to the bottom 10 ⁇ 6 and arranged in the plane perpendicular to the bottom 10 ⁇ 6 which passes through the axis of the rod 10 ⁇ 8.
- This axis 153 is close to the walls 10 ⁇ 7 a of the housing 10 ⁇ 4.
- the distance between the axis 153 and the stop 151 is slightly greater than the thickness of the lever 10 ⁇ 2.
- the length of the assembly formed by the tab 152 and the stop 151 is slightly less than the internal width of the bottom 10 ⁇ 6, which allows the pivoting of the assembly in the housing 10 ⁇ 4, substantially in a semicircle.
- the bottom 10 ⁇ 6 is further crossed by a light 154 in an arc centered on the axis 153, arranged symmetrically on either side of the plane perpendicular to the bottom 10 ⁇ 6 and passing through the axis of the rod 10 ⁇ 8, the radius of the arc of this light 154 substantially corresponding to the distance separating the axis 153 from the axis of the stop 151.
- the stop 151 is itself traversed in its axial height by a threaded cylindrical housing cooperating with a screw 155 passing through the light 154, the head of this screw 155 being disposed opposite the element 150 ⁇ relative to the bottom 10 ⁇ 6.
- the tab 152 and the stop 151 are arranged along the wall 10 ⁇ 7 a , the stop element 150 ⁇ being held in place by tightening the bottom 10 ⁇ 6 between the stop 151 and the screw head 155.
- the angular movement of the levers and of the actuating bar is limited to a first dihedral by the stop 151, in the same way as in the example of the first embodiment.
- panic locks are used in the manner which will now be described. If the lock is adapted to the direction of opening of the door, that is to say, if the levers and the actuation bar are located in the right dihedral relative to the housings, it then mounts on this door in having that of the two housings in which the bolt of the lock is mounted, on the side opposite the hinge of the door, the lock housings can be, for example, screwed onto this door. If, on the contrary, the actuation bar and the operating levers are arranged in the wrong dihedral and do not, consequently, allow the panic lock to be directly adapted to the door, we will then proceed to reverse the set of levers and actuation bar.
- the stop 14 can be released which is returned to its median position of rest by the spring or springs 18.
- the lever 3 has pivoted about its axis 8, the maneuvering pin 22 describing an arc of a circle tangentially to the convex part 27 of the bearing surface 25 of the bolt 23, so as to pass from one notch 26 to another.
- the panic lock is thus ready to be used on the door, the opening direction of which did not correspond to the initial configuration of the lock.
- the stop element 150 ⁇ is pivoted by a quarter turn relative to the axis 153. This new position of the stop element 150 ⁇ allows the angular movement of the lever 2, this lever 2 can pass just above the leg 152 and thus change the dihedral.
- the stop element is again pivoted by a quarter of a turn in the same direction, so that the stop 151 is found at the end of the lever 10 ⁇ 2, symmetrically in its initial position relative to the plane perpendicular to the bottom 10 ⁇ 6 passing through the axis 153.
- this panic lock is ready to be mounted on a door, thanks to reversing its operating direction.
