- Claim 5 characterizes the teaching of this invention in the event that the heater is equipped with a variable curvature over the length.
- the invention eliminates the prejudice and runs counter to the general trend that increasing thread speed and larger thread titer require a longer heater length if the target temperature required for false twist texturing is to be reliably reached.
- the invention is based based on the new finding that there is a narrow range (hereinafter referred to as the "dependency range") in which there is a dependence of the heater length required to achieve a specific target temperature on the radius of curvature of the heater.

- the special feature of this invention is that for the heater 4 radius R and length L are optimally matched to one another so that the length L of the heater is minimized to achieve the desired temperature.

- the heater is circularly curved so that it has only one radius.
- the wrap angle is the same as the angle between the inlet tangent and the outlet tangent.
- the heating rail there is a minimum length of the heating rail. This minimum length depends on the thread titer. The limits are specified in claim 1. The minimum length on the one hand ensures a sufficient minimum dwell time of the thread on the heating rail. On the other hand, a large heater length with a small radius also means a large wrap angle and thus a large increase in tensile force in the thread. By limiting the length of the heating bar the wrap angle and thus the increase in tensile force is therefore technically limited to areas that are specified by the technology of false twist texturing.
- the required heater length depends essentially on the thread speed and the thread titer.
- a heater length that is sufficient to essentially heat the thread to its desired temperature is referred to as necessary.
- the target temperature of the thread corresponds to the limit, i.e. with ideal heat transfer, the actual temperature of the heating rail.
- the heater length also depends on the heater radius. That means: the smaller the radius, the smaller the length.
- a heater that has a greater curvature in the infeed area ensures intensive heat transfer to the thread and thus rapid heating in the infeed area and, on the other hand, a longer running distance to even out the thread temperature.
- the reverse measure could be useful to adapt the increasing heater curvature to the increasing twist build-up in the running thread.
