Definitions

  • the invention relates to a manually operable liquid atomizer according to the type specified by the preamble of claim 1.
  • the two ring seals of the piston of the piston pump are so closely spaced apart that the mouth of the ventilation line lying in their annular space is already out of its rest position after a relatively short displacement of the piston connects to the atmosphere through the open end of the pump cylinder.
  • the connection is made via an annular space that exists between the main length of the pump piston sealed by the two ring seals against the pump chamber and the surrounding pump cylinder, so that the ventilation of the reservoir during the displacement of the pump piston caused by the handle lever against the force of the return spring is constant is mediated through this annular space.
  • the axial guidance of the pump piston on the surrounding wall of the pump cylinder is thus essentially limited only to the remaining length, which is relatively short with the two ring seals, at the piston end facing the pump chamber, so that this causes a rather unstable displacement of the piston, which tends to tilt, with a corresponding disadvantageous effect Impact on the operation of the piston pump is obtained.
  • This disadvantageous effect is particularly noticeable when the ring seals are formed as one-piece lip seals with the piston, because then such tilting movements also lead to faster wear on the relatively thin lips of the seals.
  • a liquid atomizer in which the distance between two integrally formed lip seals of the piston of a corresponding piston pump is dimensioned such that a ventilation hole designed for ventilation of the reservoir in the wall of the pump cylinder is in the rest position as well also lies in the maximum displacement position of the pump piston obtained with a limit stop in the annular space between the two lip seals.
  • a partial coverage of the inlet suction line opening into the pump chamber is obtained, so that a valve chamber upstream of the pump chamber then also has a connection to the other lip seal against the open end of the pump cylinder has sealed ventilation hole.
  • the annular space between the two ring seals is connected to the atmosphere at the same time via a ventilation groove formed in the wall of the pump cylinder in an axially parallel manner, this connection being different from that in the rest position of the pump piston, the open end of the pump cylinder sealing lip seal is released during the movement of the pump piston. With this liquid atomizer there is therefore a risk of leakage leakage through the open end of the pump cylinder.
  • the invention characterized by the claims solves the problem of designing a manually operable liquid atomizer of the type specified in such a way that greater security for leakage leakage is obtained via the open end of the pump cylinder.
  • the liquid atomizer shown in its entirety in FIG. 1 represents a further development of the atomizer according to DE-C-32 45 493, the individual parts of which are partly adopted unchanged and partly undergo an uncomplicated adaptation to the design according to the invention.
  • the use of an atomizer nozzle is provided, which, with a design according to DE-C-34 43 640, results in simple mounting on the atomizer housing.
  • the atomizer is provided for screwing to a storage container containing the liquid to be atomized by means of a union nut 2 which is freely rotatable by the atomizer housing 1.
  • a handle lever 3 is pivotally mounted on the atomizer housing 1 and bears with a projection 4 on the piston 6 of a piston pump, which piston is biased by a return spring 5.
  • the pump piston 6 can thus be displaced by the handle lever 3 against the force of the return spring 5 in a pump chamber 7 formed with the atomizer housing 1, which is sealed against an open end of the pump cylinder 10 by a piston seal designed with two lip seals 8 and 9.
  • a connection bore 11 opens with a valve chamber 12, to which a connecting line 14 leading to the reservoir is connected via an inlet check valve 13 formed with a valve ball.
  • the connecting line 14 thus forming a partial length of an inlet-suction line opening into the pump chamber 7 passes through a closure piece 15 of the storage container which can be fixed by the union nut 2, the closure piece being cylindrical overall and engaging behind a central push-through opening of the union nut with a radially projecting ring flange 16 which thus supports the union nut so that it can rotate freely.
  • an outlet pressure line 17 extends from the pump chamber 7, at the mouth of which the atomizing nozzle 18 is arranged.
  • the handle lever 3 is formed with an essentially U-shaped bearing fork 19, which has a pivot pin formed as a double pin 20, 21 at each of the two fork ends.
  • Each pivot is inserted into two axially aligned bearing bores 22 and 23 of an outer housing wall 24 and a spaced inner housing wall 25, which are thus arranged in pairs on both sides of the outlet pressure line 17 formed with the atomizer housing 1.
  • This paired arrangement is designed according to the sectional view in FIG.
  • the valve chamber 12 is formed within a hollow cylindrical housing extension 26, which is provided for a plug connection with the closure piece 15 of the storage container.
  • the housing extension 26 is surrounded by a coaxially formed second housing extension 27 with the formation of an intermediate space 28 which is dimensioned such that when a housing extension 26 is plugged onto the closure piece 15 a plug connection with an axially projecting ring flange 29 of the closure piece is obtained at the same time.
  • the plug connection provided for the ring flange 29 of the closure piece 15 is supplemented by a snap connection with the second housing attachment 27, which is formed with a catch lug 30 of the ring flange 29 and a catch hole 31 of the second housing attachment 27.
  • the snap connection primarily serves the purpose of keeping the union nut 2 freely rotatable on the closure piece in the interaction of the second housing extension 27 and the radially projecting ring flange 16 of the closure piece 15, for which purpose the central push-through opening of the union nut has a somewhat larger diameter than the axially projecting ring flange 29 having.
  • an axially parallel longitudinal groove 32 is formed, which is sealed with a press fit of the ring flange against the housing shoulder 26.
  • the longitudinal groove 32 forms a partial length of a ventilation line which, via a prechamber formed with the intermediate space 28 between the two housing attachments 26 and 27 and a ventilation bore 33 in the wall of the pump cylinder 10, connects to the annular intermediate space 34 between the two lip seals 8 and 9 of the pump piston 6 connected.
  • the longitudinal groove 32 has a connection to a bore 35 of the closure piece 15, via which a connection to the storage container can thus be established.
  • a labyrinth seal 36 with the mutual contact surfaces of the second housing extension 27 and the ring flange 29 is also formed, which press-fits the Ring flange 29 is radially preloaded with respect to the press fit supplementing a housing extension 26.
  • the intermediate space 34 formed between the two lip seals 8, 9 of the pump piston 6 is sealed in the rest position of the piston by the one lip seal 9 against the open end of the pump cylinder 10.
  • a seal against the pump chamber 7 is obtained with the other lip seal 8.
  • This double-sided seal also exists with respect to a ventilation groove 37, which is formed axially parallel with a length smaller than the distance between the two lip seals in the wall of the pump cylinder 10 and, according to the detail shown in FIG. 4, has a diffuser-like widening end 38, which with reference to the illustration in FIG. 3 on one to the ventilation hole 33 diametrically opposite point in the wall of the pump cylinder 10 is formed.
  • the other lip seal 8 maintains an unchanged seal of the intermediate space 34 and thus at the same time the ventilation hole 33 against the pump chamber 7, which on the other hand has a connection with the valve chamber 12 that is constantly maintained via the bore 11.
  • the outlet pressure line 17 is thus also continuously connected to the valve chamber 12 via the pump chamber 7.
  • an O-ring can also be provided for the sealing on these contact surfaces.
  • the lip seals 8, 9 of the pump piston 6 can also be replaced by such separate O-rings.
  • a rib can also be formed on the wall of the pump cylinder 10 in order to maintain the connection to the atmosphere outside the rest position of the pump piston.
