Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for hardening the rail head of rails, consisting of a plunge pool for the rail head, a manipulator for taking over individual rails resting on head and foot from a feed conveyor and for immersing the rail head into the plunge pool and from a conveyor for removal of the treated rails.
- At least the rail head is quenched by a coolant, with immersion of the rail head in the coolant being preferred because of the associated quenching conditions that are more uniform over the length of the rail than spraying on the coolant (AT-PS 375 402).
- the immersion of the rail head in a plunge pool requires a suitable manipulator as part of series production, which takes over the rails conveyed via a feed conveyor individually and dips the rail head downwards to deter the plunge pool.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of providing a manipulator for a device of the type described at the outset which is not only of simple construction but also allows monitoring of the rail handling.
- the invention solves this problem in that the manipulator on both longitudinal sides of the plunge pool has height-adjustable and pivotable about an axis running in the longitudinal direction of the plunge pool support arms that protrude against the plunge pool support approaches for the rail foot for receiving the rail to be handled with Form the rail head pointing below and the rail web protruding downwards between the support lugs.
- the provision of support arms on both sides of the plunge pool initially creates a simple, space-saving possibility of immersing the rail held between these support arms, with the rail head pointing downwards, into the plunge pool by lowering the support arms.
- the pivotability of these support arms about an axis running in the longitudinal direction of the plunge pool also allows the rails resting on the head and foot to be taken from the feed conveyor in the correct position in a simple manner because the inclined rail foot is pivoted on both sides with the aid of the support lugs by a corresponding pivoting of the support arms extended to different heights the support arms can be gripped before the rail is rotated by compensating for the different stroke positions of the support arms in the rotational position required for immersion.
- the rail remains accessible from above during its handling, which considerably simplifies its monitoring.
- the rail is transferred via the support arms from the plunge pool into the conveying plane of the conveying device, the support arms having to be swung apart in order to release the rail head.
- the pivoting possibility required for gripper-like detection of the rails could possibly take over the Rails are used by the feed conveyor connected laterally to the manipulator or for transfer to the conveyor for the removal of the rails.
- the feed conveyor can consist of a support fork forming a stop running in the longitudinal direction of the plunge pool for the rails.
- a leveling process is thus associated with the transverse conveying of the rails because the individual rails lie against the stop of the carrying fork.
- the design of the feeder as a carrying fork also has the advantage that the support arms of the manipulator with their support lugs can grip between the fork tines for trouble-free transfer of the rails.
- the rail that is being conveyed can be taken over with the support fork and put down again after the cross-conveying, for example on an intermediate carrier, which means that the support fork is withdrawn before the takeover the rail through the manipulator and thus possibly shortening the cycle times allowed.
- an intermediate carrier which means that the support fork is withdrawn before the takeover the rail through the manipulator and thus possibly shortening the cycle times allowed.
- the conveyor for the removal of the rails as an intermediate carrier because of the necessity to also withdraw this intermediate carrier from the lifting range of the support arms.
- This conveyor is functionally retractable from the support arm area and is otherwise not required during the rail transfer from the feeder to the manipulator.
- the rails quenched in the plunge pool are generally fed to a cooling bed.
- the transfer of the treated rails from the supporting arms of the manipulator to the cooling bed can be ensured in a structurally very simple manner in that the conveying device for removing the rails consists of at least one conveying lever carrying the rail support with a pivot axis running in the longitudinal direction of the plunge pool.
- the conveying device for removing the rails consists of at least one conveying lever carrying the rail support with a pivot axis running in the longitudinal direction of the plunge pool.
- Different drives can be used to move the manipulator support arms. Particularly favorable construction conditions result, however, if the support arms have a rack meshing with a drive pinion, which ensures simple height control of the support arms.
- the support arms which can be raised and lowered in this way, they can be mounted in a stroke guide which can be pivoted about the axis of the drive pinion extending in the longitudinal direction of the plunge pool, which creates advantageous design conditions with regard to the drive connection of the drive pinion.
- Appropriate actuators can be used to pivot the support arms around the axis of the drive pinion are used, for example eccentric drives, which can be actuated via a common actuating shaft at least for all support arms on one side of the pool.
- the device shown essentially consists of a feed conveyor 1 between a roller table 3 which feeds from a rolling mill in the longitudinal direction and a manipulator 4 for immersing the rail head 5 into a plunge pool 6 and a conveyor device 7 for removing the treated rails 2 be placed on a cooling bed 8 in a corresponding immersion bath after the quenching.
- the feed conveyor 1 is designed as a carrying fork 9 with supporting tines 11 resulting in a rail support 10, which reach between the rollers of the roller table 3 in order to lift the rail 2 from the roller table 3 and to be able to convey the manipulator 4.
- the carrying fork 9 is connected to a guide rail 12 which is held transversely to the longitudinal axis of the rail 2 in a roller guide 13 and carries a rack 14 which meshes with a pinion 15 so that the carrying fork 9 via the pinion 15 in Direction of arrow 16 can be driven. Since the guide rail 12 is also supported on a roller 13a of the roller guide 13 which is height-adjustable via an eccentric drive 17, the carrying fork 9 can additionally be pivoted about the axis of the pinion 15 in order to lift the rail 2 off the roller table.
- the carrying fork 9 To feed the rails 2 to the manipulator 4 in a position aligned with respect to the plunge pool 6, the carrying fork 9 has a stop 18 running in the longitudinal direction of the plunge pool, against which the rails 2 strike when they are taken over by the carrying fork 9.
- the manipulator 4 taking over the rails 2 essentially consists of support arms 20 which are arranged on both longitudinal sides of the plunge pool 6 and which are displaceable in height in lifting guides 19, which on the one hand have guide rollers 21 mounted in a housing and on the other hand have a rack 22 associated with the support arm Intermeshing drive pinions 23 are formed so that the support arms 20 can be adjusted in height within the stroke guides 19 via the drive pinions 23.
- the lifting guides 19 are also connected to a swivel drive 24, preferably an eccentric drive, by means of which the support arms 20 can be pivoted about the drive shafts 25 of the drive pinion 23.
- the support arms 20 have at their upper end support lugs 26, with which they protrude in the working positions shown in Fig. 2 with full and dashed lines against the web 27 of the rail 2 and the rail base 28 in the immersion position with the rail head 5 pointing downwards reach under.
- the support arms 20 are extended into the position shown in dash-dotted lines by means of the rack and pinion drive, in order to grasp the rail resting on the support prongs 11 of the support fork 9 between them.
- the support arms 20 assigned to the rail foot part protruding from the rail support 10 must first be swung out on one side of the plunge pool in order to be able to grip around the rail head 5 lying laterally next to the rail foot with the support lugs 26.
- the support arms 20 are to be extended to different heights on the two sides of the plunge pool, so that the inclined position of the rail foot 28 at its Under reach can be taken into account.
- the rail 2 to be quenched can be taken over by the manipulator, with a height compensation of the support arms 20 ensuring the rail rotation into the immersion position, as is indicated by the broken lines in FIG. 2.
- the rail 2 can therefore be immersed in the plunge pool 6 for hardening the rail head after the support arms 9 have been withdrawn from the support arm region via the support arms 20 with the rail head 5.
- the quenched rail 2 is transferred to the conveyor device 7, which is made up of at least one conveyor lever 30 provided with a rail support 29 which grips between the support arms.
- the conveyor device 7 By pivoting this conveying lever 30 about an axis 31 running in the longitudinal direction of the conveying basin 6 from the takeover position drawn in full lines in FIG. 1 into the transfer position indicated by dash-dotted lines, the respective rail 2 can be placed on the cooling bed 8, which, for example, a step conveyor for step-wise May have transmission of the rails.
- the transfer of the treated rails by the conveyor lever 30 takes place in a reverse sequence to the feeding of the rails to the manipulator 4.
- the conveyor lever 30 After lifting the rail over the support arms 20, the conveyor lever 30 is pivoted with its rail support under the rail 2, so that after the support arms have been lowered and spread apart, the rail comes to rest on the rail support 29 of the conveyor lever 30, specifically with a head and footrest.
- the support arms 20 of the manipulator 4 retracted into the starting position according to FIG. 1 in no way hinder the subsequent conveying step of the conveying lever 30.
- the rail 4 to be taken over by the manipulator can first be taken over by the conveying device 7, which is adjusted for this purpose into the swivel position shown with full lines.
- the takeover of the rail 2 resting on the rail support 29 by the support arms 20 of the manipulator 4 then takes place in the manner already described for the takeover by the feed conveyor 1.
