  • the invention therefore provides an indicator suitable for attachment to the hook of a moulded plastics garment hanger, said indicator comprising a body adapted to display indicia and comprising side walls, end walls and a top wall dimensioned to form a body having a low generally rectangular profile and defining a downwardly opening cavity shaped and dimensioned to receive a narrow upwardly projecting web formed on a hook of a moulded plastics garment hanger, said body having regions between at least said side walls and said top wall which are smoothly rounded while the lowermost edges of at least said side walls are substantially non-rounded to define relatively sharp edges at said lowermost edges, said end walls being spaced to engage in use spaced points on said web such that said indicator is in use stably supported on said web, said smoothly rounded portions and said sharp edges facilitating sorting of said indicators into a preferred orientation.

It is considered desirable that the width of the indicator should not materially exceed the width of the hook of the hanger so that the indicator is less obtrusive in use.
  • the indicator body is also formed with smoothly rounded edges, particularly at the uppermost edges of the body, while the lowermost edges of the sides of the body are not rounded, so as to present sharp edges, as shown in Figure 3.
  • This feature allows the indicators to be sorted with the cavity directed downwardly by running the indicators along a narrow edge in the sorting machine (not shown) whereby engagement between the rounded edges and the narrow edge cause an indicator engaging the edge in this manner to topple over and rest on the sharp edges so that its cavity is directed downwardly. If the sharp edges engage the narrow sorting edge, they will not cause the indicator to topple.
  • the web W formed on the hook of the hanger H is shaped to provide engagement points between the ends 9 and 10 of the opening to the cavity 4 and the top 11 of the cavity 4 when the indicator is fitted to the web W to limit movement of the indicator on the hook H.
  • the shape of the web W is not significantly different from a "normal" shape so the hanger can be used with or without the indicator.
  • the web may be moulded with an upwardly projecting generally rectangular portion (not shown) which substantially filis the cavity 4 to inhibit any significant movement of the indicator on the web W of the hook H.
  • Such an arrangement has the advantage of providing a rectangular surface on the hook for labels when the indicator is not used.
  • the cavity 4 may be shaped to correspond to the shape of the web W, although the net benefit of such an arrangement would not appear to outweigh the extra amount of plastics required for such a moulding.
  • the indicator embodying the invention provides an aesthetically acceptable alternative to the indicator disclosed in Patent No. 509042 with only a minimal modification being required to the shape of the hook of the hanger to which the indicator is to be applied.
  • the indicator presents a narrow profile which does not excessively modify the shape of the uppermost end of the hook of the hanger, while the hook itself may be used without the indicator since it is not significantly different in shape to other hooks.
  • the indicators embodying the invention also lend themselves to automated application techniques which are assisted by the rounded upper edges of the indicator, as described in greater detail above.

Claims (8)

  1. Anzeigevorrichtung (1), die geeignet ist, am Haken (H) eines Kleiderbügels aus Pressplastik befestigt zu werden, wobei die Anzeigevorrichtung (1) einen Körper (1) umfasst, der angepasst ist, um ein Kennzeichen (7) anzuzeigen und Seitenwände (2, 3), Endwände und eine Deckenwand umfasst, die so bemessen sind, dass sie den Körper (1) bilden,
    wobei der Körper (1) einen sich nach unten öffnenden Hohlraum (4) definiert, der geformt und bemessen ist, um einen schmalen, nach oben vorstehenden Steg (W) aufzunehmen, der auf dem Haken (H) des Kleiderbügels aus Pressplastik gebildet ist,
    wobei die Endwände mit einem Abstand angeordnet sind, um beim Gebrauch in beabstandete Punkte (9, 10) auf dem Steg (W) einzugreifen, so dass die Anzeigevorrichtung (1) im Gebrauch stabil auf dem Steg (W) getragen wird,
       dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Körper ein niedriges, im allgemeinen rechteckiges Profil hat, wobei die Höhe der Anzeigevorrichtung kleiner ist als ungefähr ein Drittel der Breite der Anzeigevorrichtung (1),
    der Körper eine ebene rechteckige Öffnung gegen den Hohlraum (4) hin definiert, und
    der Körper (1) Bereiche zwischen zumindest den Seitenwänden (2, 3) und der Deckenwand hat, welche sanft abgerundet sind, während die untersten Ränder von zumindest den Seitenwänden (2, 3) im wesentlichen nicht abgerundet sind, um relativ scharfe Kanten an den untersten Rändern zu definieren,
    wobei die sanft abgerundeten Teile und die scharfen Kanten das Sortieren der Anzeigevorrichtungen in eine bevorzugte Ausrichtung erleichtern.
  2. Anzeigevorrichtung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Körper (1) mit einer Einrichtung (5, 6) gebildet ist, die angepasst ist, um mit einer entsprechenden Einrichtung (A) auf dem nach oben vorstehenden Steg (W) des Hakens (H) des Bügels zusammenzuwirken, um die Anzeigevorrichtung auf dem nach oben vorstehenden Steg (W) festzuhalten.
  3. Anzeigevorrichtung nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Einrichtung (5, 6), die im Körper (1) gebildet ist, mindestens eine Öffnung (5, 6) in mindestens einer der Seitenwände (2, 3) umfasst, wobei diese Öffnung vollständig durch die Seitenwand (2, 3) hindurch geht und diese mindestens eine Öffnung (5, 6) zum Verriegeln mit der entsprechenden Einrichtung (A) auf dem Steg (W) angepasst ist.
  4. Anzeigevorrichtung nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Seitenwand (2, 3) die mindestens eine Öffnung (5, 6) vollständig umgibt.
  5. Anzeigevorrichtung nach irgend einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das niedrige, im allgemeinen rechteckige Profil eine Breite hat, die kleiner ist als die Breite des Hakens (H) des Bügels.
  6. Anzeigevorrichtung nach irgend einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche in Kombination mit einem Kleiderbügel aus Pressplastik, der einen Haken (H) hat, der mit einem schmalen, nach oben vorstehenden Steg (W) gebildet ist,
       dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Steg (W) und der Hohlraum (4) so geformt sind, dass die untersten Ränder der Endwände in beabstandete, diskrete Punkte (9, 10) auf dem Steg (W) eingreifen, während ein anderer diskreter Punkt auf dem obersten Randteil des Steges (W) sich zumindest sehr nahe bei der Deckenwand (11) des Hohlraumes (4) befindet, so dass die Anzeigevorrichtung in diesen anderen diskreten Punkt eingreift, wenn sie aus einer mittleren Position auf dem Steg (w) verschoben ist, wobei die Anzeigevorrichtung auf dem Steg (W) durch Eingriff bei den diskreten Punkten (9, 10) stabil getragen wird.
  7. Kombination nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Körper (1) der Anzeigevorrichtung eine Dicke hat, welche nicht wesentlich über die Dicke des Hakens (H) des Bügels an seinem oberen Ende hinaus geht.
  8. Kombination nach Anspruch 6 oder 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Steg (W) einen sanft gekrümmten oberen Rand hat, der so bemessen ist, dass er in die Deckenwand (11) des Hohlraumes (4) der Anzeigevorrichtung (1) eingreift oder sich sehr nahe bei ihr befindet.
